Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
you're right, my bad. it was threat of a draft day cut and that they really aren't happy with him. that move has not actually been made though. so, i apologize.
Is that what it was? I was about to say, the only person that they announced cutting was Justin Hartwig and before that was Deshaun Foster. |
Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
Zorn know's Hackett better than anyone and he has not been exactly glowing in praise of Hackett. His comments about Hackett, or should I say lack of anything really good to say about him, make me wonder if he is worth even signing.

when have you ever heard of a coach praising a player in the public? Parcells was fond of Keyshawn Johnson and got him to Dallas but he wasnt in the media on a daily basis praising him. If Hackett does not come here I do not think it will be because of his relationship with Zorn (or lack thereof), but because he does not feel he fits in with the Redskins. |
Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
I know it's PFT, but the 49ers might cut Darrell Jackson ProFootballTalk.com - 49ers BID FAREWELL TO DARRELL
If Hackett goes for more money elsewhere, which is likely to happen. Should Darrell Jackson be given a chance in a Skins uniform? He was very productive when healthy in Seattle's WCO, and he'll likely have a very low price tag. I'm sure Zorn knows why Seattle traded him away in the first place and would know why to avoid him as well. But this could be it for him if he doesn't produce on his next team, so I imagine he'd be really motivated. |

This isn't a PFT originated story. So that's an example of PFT being good as a portal of information, but it shouldn't be confused with PFT taking the lead on going out there and scooping stories. |

i was confused by this article, i thought that hackett rejected our offer
They made him an offer and he didn't immediately accept. That's not the same as saying he rejected the offer. He wanted to visit Tampa and Carolina as well, weigh all the offers and then give Seattle a chance to match. |

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
Apparently Carolina doesn't have room for him and with Jackson on the market our chances of getting him just went up 10 fold.

Re: Zorn and Skins to pursue D. J. Hackett
I get what the article is saying, im just saying that im confused because i thought i remembered reading a few days ago (I think it was on PFT) that hackett turned down our offer, and this article says that he never turned it down.

yeah, it was PFT. And they were wrong. If I remember right they took what the Wash Times was saying about Hackett not accepting the offer so he could visit other teams to mean Hackett rejected the offer. Not the same thing at all. If I recall correctly, Andre Carter did the same thing when he was a free agent. |

This says only the Skins have an offer out. Makes me wonder why Tampa and Carolina didn't make one on the spot knowing he had 3 trips... Speculating here but....I think it is one of 3 things... 1. They heard what the Skins offered and that combined with word Bryant Johnsons 1 year deal fwas only 2 mil + Darrell Jackson being cut, may have reduced there desire to match and walked away.....OR 2. They gave him a physical and felt his ankle may be a long term issue. 3. They don't want to be the first to up the ante only to be topped by another offer. (These teams held out to get a fair deal and don't want to drive his price up) Anyone know if Hackett did a physical with either Tampa or Carolina? If he did...and they didn't make an offer, I'd be worried. |
