Re: For all you D Hall lovers
My point is getting rid of a guy that's paid his dues here & worked hard to come back from injury (Rogers) for a guy who plays half a season, needs a new contract & has a history of attitude problems, is generally bad for team chemistry. Honestly i wasn't aware of Rogers' being an "arrogant punk."
You assume that "my entire perception" is based on reports from nat'l media. Quite the contrary. I'm a Va. Tech alum & live less than an hour from VT, and a big fan of the football team. When Hall played for VT he had the same reputation, a selfish prima donna that divided the locker room. I heard from several people over the years that know players & coaches well, and their opinion of him is never good, aside from his talent. Granted, I did not get info first hand, but I trust the people who relayed stories to me. Obviously, 99%+ of the opinions on this site are based on our limited perception of people who live somewhat public lives. If I waited for first hand info on everything, I'd never vote, because I've never met a president! The last year Hall played at VT in 03, the team went from #3 in the country to losing a bowl game 52-49 & finishing 6-5 (pretty sure but not positive). The next year Hall left & the coaching staff made a point in camp of emphasizing team unity. That year they won the acc w/what most considered a less talented team. Not saying that Hall has to shoulder all the blame, but several people close to the team single him out for negatively affecting the team's chemistry. The same behavior has continued in the nfl. Yes, I get most of my info. from the nat'l media, but there is a reason a guy w/so much talent at a vital position has been dumped twice (w/one of them being the ever dysfunctional raiders) & he's only 25!!!
I don't get why people keep bringing up Hall's attitude. Have you ever thought he might have matured and realized he can't do the same stuff that got him a bad rep w/ATL? All his "so called" behavior problems came on bad teams ('07 ATL) with a coach who quit on his team in the middle of the season. Are you supposed to be the only reason they cut him in OAK is because he couldn't play man coverage. I'm not saying he's not a risk but I think he's matured and learned from his mistakes. |

The skins are going to wish they had just given hall the 6 year deal with 16M garaunteed averaging around 7M/year when they had the chance. Now, its highly unlikely they can sign him to anything less than 8-9M/year garaunteed. he's going to walk. Add to that the fact that we're trying to trade Rogers and Smoot sucks, it looks like Springs will be back for another year making an obscene amount of money for a guy who will likely play only half the games. Unless we overspend on someone like Bly, its highly likely that we are going to have to use a top pick on a corner now. In any case, Smoot is going to be our #1 or #2 corner for the majority of next year... and we can push of helping the lines for yet another year. Signing Hall early BEFORE the big money started getting thrown around was the #1 offseason priority for the skins and they blew it. Good job, Cerrato. END RANT. |

Of course I have. I'm all for people getting second (& third) chances, and maybe he's truly changed. If you read my earlier post, you'll see why I disagree w/the statement that ALL his problems were w/a bad team in Atl. He has a longer history of it, and I believe his attitude was one of the reasons he was cut by Oakland. I truly hope the dude has changed & would love for him to be the great cb he's capable of w/the Skins. I'm just not holding my breath on it |
Re: For all you D Hall lovers
Everything is connected. Letting Hall walk or signing him to an over-inflated price will have a trickle down effect that will weaken our entire team. Smart teams extend their own young starters before the price gets too steep. The Redskins FO is full of idiots.

Re: For all you D Hall lovers
Can we just wait and see what happens with Hall before going batshit about it?
 |

Dude, why don't you wait to rant until something actually happens? Like I said, we don't know if Hall's agent wanted to wait for this deal to come through. You do understand that players and agents tend to do this, right? |
Re: For all you D Hall lovers
And to add there was never a contract offer made to Hall... JLC from the Post simply speculated what the offer would be.

its a foregone conclusion now that he will either walk or we will overpay. every year salaries increase and new precedents are set that drives the price up for everywhere else. Hall is nowhere near the corner Aso is, but 15M/year and 26M garaunteed in the first two years is unheard of for a corner. |
Re: For all you D Hall lovers
Ok whatever. We'll see.
I'll save my breath for when there is actually something to talk about. |

Several days before JLC posted it, a reputable source on extremeskins said those were the numbers being discussed. as to this talk being premature, possibly, but if we talk about it now, we're less likely to look for tall buldings and bridges to jump off of when it actually happens, haha. |
Re: For all you D Hall lovers
Well if someone on ES said that it must be true. I take everything back, we're so screwed.

Man, just let it go and wait until some type of concrete news on this matter comes up. |
