Have you not noticed in the last ten years other then two playoff years we have sucked big time, I am not saying just those miss picks have made us suck but sure didn't help us get better.
Nothing like a nice dose of hyperbole.

Just looking at winning percentage since 2000, ours is 43.7%. A quick glance at Cleveland at 31% shows a big difference. Cleveland sucks. We're mediocre, sub-par, below average, but we don't "suck".

Teams that "suck" don't make the playoffs twice in the last five years. We had a horrible season last year (it sucked), but IMO that was the best thing long term for the franchise. It spurred a much needed house cleaning and hopefully we're moving forward in the right direction.

Agreed, we've been painfully mediocre. There are several teams that have been much worse off.
just looking at the teams that were in the afc and nfc championship teams over the past few years, it looks like most of those teams DIDN'T have a first round QB that the team drafted. atleast half got to that point with veteran QBs. this further makes me think that whomever we draft in the 1st round, should not be someone we take a gamble on. there are lots of ways to build successful franchises. you dont need to draft a top5 QB to be successful anymore than you need to draft a top5 left tackle or pass rusher. its all about making smart decisions in free agency, keeping your draft picks, and making wise use of the picks you have.
I think it's all about fulfilling your needs. I think sometimes it's easy to get caught up in, "WOW that guys fantastic!" Yes he might be an upgrade at his position, but does that position need to be upgraded as much as another? Is it a large upgrade that would make a difference in wins and losses? And do you ignore your greatest needs by taking this guy? Sometimes you're stuck and have to take BPA, but if at all possible, trade down and address your needs. When you have the same needs year after year, somethings wrong with the way you're drafting.

Well said. Considering the depth of this draft and the number of needs this team has, i think our best option is to trade down and pick up as many picks in rounds 1 and 2 as possible. With multiple picks, we shouldn't have to reach to fill any of our actual needs.

if we can't trade down, we need to make sure that whomever we select at 4 meets a need AND is close to being the BPA.

You know, if Shanny is not sold on Clausen, but Buffalo is, we might see this:
Washington sends Buffalo #4 overall pick (1800 draft value chart points)
Buffalo sends Washington #9 overall and #41 overall (1840 points)

We slide down to #9 and pick up a second rounder

would love that.. hit the 3rd OT or so

either that or slide back a bit more towards mid and pick up a 3rd or early 4th

If we miss out on Bradford that would be the best possible outcome. Like you said though...its assuming Shanny doesn't love Clausen and none of us really know how he even rates these QB's.

Off topic, but I miss your old sig. I used to live vicariously through that sig

that would make me happy beyond belief. its possible the skins are already trying to manipulate the situation to increase the likelyhood something like this occurs. rumor had it the bills were interested in trading for Campbell. Perhaps we rejected their overtures, in part, to increase Buffalo's interest in Clausen.

With those picks, we could probably get:

#9 - Dez Bryant, WR, Ok State
#36 - Tim Tebow, QB, Florida
#41 - Aaron Hernandez, TE, Florida

Oh wait, i forgot Vinny's gone. With Mike Shanahan and Bruce Allen making the picks, we could end up with:

#9 - Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa
#36 - Jahvid Best, RB, California
#41 - Jared Odrick, DT, PSU

This would make me very, very happy.

What did it say? I don't even remember. I remember having some quote from Marty after dumping Vinny but that doesn't apply now that Vinny is gone again.
