However, I don't think the Heat will win. They have 3 VERY expensive players, who will leave room for Mike Miller (barely) and 8 more minimum contract scrubs. The bench will have zero depth barring any surprise stepping up from minimum wage players.

I think he should have gone to the Bulls. Their overall roster is far superior than Miami's gutted team to afford 3 top free agents. They have Derrick Rose, who could end up being as good as Wade, Boozer (comparable to Bosh when healthy), Noah, Deng, Taj Gibson is a good young talent, even Brad Miller and Pargo are better-than-average players off the bench. I also have doubts about Wade and James co-existing. They will both have to cut back their stats and share the spotlight.

I think LeBron has the right intentions, to win, even if it requires taking less money and sharing the team...but I think he made the wrong choice.

I expect Pay Riley to step back onto the sidelines, firing another coach when it looks like he could come in and get credit for success. I used to respect him a lot as a coach, but it seems he is only willing to coach when it looks like things are going good. When the team struggles, he steps back into an office job and lets some other temporary coach deal with the team and get the blame.[/quote]

(As a Bulls fan) I was hoping Wade would go to the Bulls...for a day or two, it seemed very likely.

The East seems as strong, or stronger than the West this upcoming year.

The West had a long run of being FAR superior than the East. Even when Detroit or Boston won...the West was still stronger top to bottom.

Right but like I said, NBA ticket prices are much much higher. Helps makes up for the fewer games.

Revenue is by far the better measure, it shows what the fans are willing to pay to consume the product. The price of the ticket is going to change based on the demand for the seats, the supply of the seats, and the supply of the games. It says something that MLB is able to sell the tickets they do to 162 games, it shows demand for the product is higher than the NBA. Because if demand for the NBA's product were higher, they'd either build bigger arenas or raise the ticket prices to generate more revenue.

It is business after all. Supply & demand drives everything, the revenue generated is ultimately supported by fan interest.

Dude the MLB almost plays two seasons worth of NBA basketball in one season. That is a huge gap.

I think the Suns (even with Amare gone), and Jazz (even with Boozer gone) are still formidable. Spurs are getting old but I never count them out. I think Dirk is better suited to be the #2 guy on a team, but they're strong. The Nuggets, despite the adversity of Karl's cancer battle, are very competitive. And then you've got the OKC Thunder. Not to mention the Blazers and Grizzlies as up and coming teams as well.

Yeah I know, you're missing my point. Short of repeating the same exact post over again, all I can say is that the ticket prices adjust based on the number of games and number of seats available, and based on the demand for said seats.

Despite the game difference, if the NBA were more popular than MLB, people would pay quadruple the ticket price, given the fewer games and smaller arenas.

But they don't do that.

I don't know how the Suns or Jazz compete in the low post against Gasol/Bynum and Duncan without Amare and Boozer.

Doesn't mean they can't compete with them

On another note, I'm not saying Hakim Warrick is Amare, but I think he can be a sleeper offensively for Phoenix with Nash distributing him the ball

To me, though, the biggest wild card is Greg Oden. If he can come back healthy I think the Blazers could be like Orlando out of the East in 2009

That's a good call, combined with a full healthy season out of Brandon Roy, who was nagged for a good portion of last year.

Generally speaking the West is always a stronger conference. Look at records. Barring one team in the East, all playoff teams in the West have better records. Furthermore the cut line in terms of W-L is much lower in the East each year.
