I keep seeing the phrases "No price is too much for Fletcher" or "he's worth a huge contract" and "What's he's done for the past 5 years" (my personal favorite) mentioned in this thread but none of you are logical about it.

First off, you have to remember this is a business. Second, you have to remember there is only a certain amount of resources a team can tie up on salaries.

Ok, once you grasp those two concepts, then you'll understand that paying a 37 year old linebacker huge sums of money isn't smart. I don't care if he is the leader of a team. I don't care if he is the face of the franchise. I don't care if he did lead the NFL in tackles. It's not what he has done, it's what he will do. I think history shows us quite well that 37+ linebackers really aren't going to produce at the level that they did 5 years ago. Do you actually think that Fletcher can cover RBs/TEs like he did 5 years ago? Not sure what team you were watching last year, but I recall Fletcher slow to a many of plays and it wasn't because of lack of effort or heart. It's his age, his speed and it sure isn't going to get better over the course of the next year. A 37 year old isn't going to beat a 23 year old RB on the edge. A 37 year old isn't going to keep up with a Gronkowski.

I understand you guys are huge fans of him and so am I. There isn't a person on this team that has been more valuable to this franchise than Fletcher. That doesn't mean you just throw tons of cash at him because of what he's meant to us. He got paid rewarding during his time here and will so on this next contract.

You think Fletcher meant more to our team than Peyton Manning meant to the Colts? They made a business decision (smart one) and so did we by not overpaying Fletcher. I'm very satisfied with the numbers that he signed for and think it's funny he could have gotten more had he not fired his agent. Talk about a huge backfire.

Let's put away all this talk about "hobbled" linebacker and raise our mugs to welcome a man back who's put it all on the line for this team even though many others haven't.
So what's your point about London's contract? He got less than he might have and deserves it? Or he deserves the bigger contract he (probably) could have gotten a few weeks ago?

Posts this long that don't go anywhere drive me to drink :drink

he's probably worth 6-7mill per, he wanted 8-9, he got 5.? something. good for us.

and anyone saying he should be brought back at any price aren't thinking. you'd seriously pay him 40mill a year and cut 60 other players to do it? oh, you wouldn't? then don't say you would.

I know! First NC says we paid to much for a old LB then at the end wants to stop talking Fletcher being hobbled and wants to toast a drink to him.

Did Witchy Poo write that post? Good god.

Then neither one of you can read worth a damn. Show me where I said or even hinted that we paid too much for Fletcher?

This part implies we paid too much. Now un-bunch panties and resume your daily activities.

I think you are missing the point he starts off saying we paid too much then says we didn't at the end and we should cheer LF.

His post is very contradicting.

No it doesn't. It's a statement to some of the people arguing that no salary is too high and that he's worth whatever contract he wants. The fact that I said this solidifies it.

Noooo ... first part implied it was possible to pay to much and then he says he's glad we didn't.

My panties not in a bunch, friend. Never were. In fact, others inability to get how the english language works always makes me laugh. Besides, NC and I often butt heads, just this once I thought I'd back him up. Mainly b/c he's right.

I disagree. It was long and contained more than one complete thought, but they were all consistent.

c'est la vie - you say potaytoe, I say potahto. Does it matter? LF is resigned at good numbers. RGIII is on the way. Once again the offseason is looking good.

My butt is too big for my panties to bunch. I guess I need bigger panties.

Well you should laugh at your self because I never said your panties were in a bunch. I was talking about NC.

Much like your perception of me saying we overpaid for LF, it's a bit off on this as well.

Nothing about that post was contradicting and I'm not even sure how you are coming up with that. /shrug

Oh well....moving on.

HOW ABOUT THAT RGIII!!!
