Looking at Rookie reporting dates, anyone know why ours is so early (not like the Bills though, their rookies reported on the 9th...)
Yup, also if there is an offset clause, I would imagine if it ever is invoked that means the agent is the one really losing out, so I can see them fighting tooth and nail to keep it out.
Good point.

Like the sig.

What about LeRibEye? Certainly he is not squabbling over offset language, is he?

The top of the 3rd round has it's equivalent squabble:

Why Are There so Many 3rd-Round NFL Draft Picks That Are Still Unsigned? | Bleacher Report

and

Again it seems like a bit of change that the agents are fighting tooth and nail for.

I assume that once the penalties for holding out kick in these type disputes will be quickly put to rest.

He wants unlimited free dining at all DC area Outbacks but the FO wont budge.

That is a sticking point worth fighting for. Their wheat bread is fantastic.

Don't bring back the painful memories of my first job. And it's actually pumpernickel. ;)

What's baffling to me is why is it taking so long sign Josh LeRibeus. He was a third round draft pick. If Griffin's contract situation is close to him signing, then what about LeRibeus?

Will be interesting to see what if anything the Bucs do with Mark Barron (#7 pick). Their rookies are permitted to report tomorrow. After that, we're looking at the Browns/Trent Richardson, whose rookies report July 24. Colts rookies report the next day, July 25. In my opinion, that's the day the offset-language chips fall where they may (and just in time for Redskins camp).

It would of course be ideal to have RGIII in there now, but the Redskins FO has to have seen this coming - especially after they set such an early date for rookies to report as compared to the Colts.
My 2 cents...

(1) The Colts realize that the language of their contract with Luck will set the precedent for the language in the other top contracts.
The Colts don't open camp until July 28.
They gain nothing by signing Luck before the 28th and also get to put the teams waiting on them at a competitive disadvantage.

(2) The specualtion is the contract hinges on offset language within the contract.
Especially in our case it makes no sense to haggle over such contract language.
We gave up alot to get Griffin everyone knows he's our guy.
If we end up cutting Griffin a few million is the least of our problems.
And the Panthers (who also have an early camp) already signed their 9th pick without the offset language.

(3) We cannot/must not wait on Luck.
Its up to the FO to get this deal done, asap.
They need to think for themselves and set their own precedent.
If they wait on Luck, Griff might not be at camp til the 28/29.
great post, i completely agree. it's up to our front office to get this done. i would hate nothing more than for griff to be on the sidelines next thursday, should be done by now, has to be done by then.
