ESPN also hops on.

ESPN is at the top of the pandering list. Unwatchable.
At this point I just don’t care and In this current climate it be some good press for a team that is always on the bad side of the press.
Good point. I'll take the positive press. As I said before, I don't care about the name change. They'll still be my team regardless of what the team name will be.

I dislike Washington Warriors though. It sounds dumb. Guessing something along the same lines as Capitals/Nationals would happen, the question is what though.
Is Bullets taken?

Re: Skins getting heat again over name issue

Just my opinion, but if I were Dan Snyder and I did change the name it wouldn't be anything that has to do with Indians at all. The Native Americans that don't see it as racist need to speak up about how they feel. Taking down statues that have been up for years. Where is this going to end. It's not. The majority of people don't see it as a racist name, but the people who do speak out and the one's who don't feel it is racist, don't. Just my opinion.
No, because it's not 100 years ago and I, along with literally everybody else, is not prejudiced against Native Americans.

Go find me any group of people anywhere who are still actively encouraging slaughter against Native Americans and maybe I'll reconsider.
There are plenty of slurs that people don’t use anymore - eg, the ones for Italian and Irish immigrants from the early 20th century. That no one uses them these days doesn’t make them less a slur. I know I’d be pretty offended if one were directed my way. I don’t even see how this is a debate anymore.

Change the name. Enough with this issue. If there are Native Americans that are offended by it - and who am I to say otherwise - then just do it. (See what I did there?). It isn’t worth it and won’t affect my affection for the team which is keyed more to the fact that I am from the DC area.

Re: Skins getting heat again over name issue

If you are at a bar, and you overhear someone say “some redskins just walked in,” would you think they were talking about a football player, or a Native American? Would ANYONE who heard that think they were talking about anything other than a football player?

There was a time in the past where the word was a slur. But, unlike the n-word, LITERALLY NO ONE uses the word as a slur anymore. NO ONE. The “racial slur” definition of the word is extinct.

The overwhelming majority of pressure to change the name comes from white liberal men who, instead of doing anything meaningful to help minorities who are suffering REAL injustice, instead want to write a blog or tweet about the how awful the redskins team name is. It’s a way for them to assuage their “white guilt” from the comfort of home without actually doing anything. Well, I’m a very left leaning liberal white man who says this is absolute bull shit.

Take a cue from former HC Jim Zorn and rename the team "The Maroon, Black, and Yellow."
How in the world would calling them Skins change anything? Racism is all about skins, specifically skin colors. That dog don't hunt.
Wrong. The Skins is all encompassing.

The difference is white supremacy still exists and in the last 4 years they've suddenly found their voice again.

What about the N.A. reservations that use it as a term of pride?
