Re: Cardinals vs Redskins game thread
This was the ugliest win since the playoff game we won against Tampa...I'll take the win...but the D better get plenty of rest this week!!!
|
Re: Cardinals vs Redskins game thread
Next week is going to be humiliating. I may just prepare to take next Monday off just to avoid all the Pats fans.
One thing I don't understand is that while a run heavy, ball control offense is great, it only works if you're picking up first down. It's just not happening... We need to open things up...
It's just not that simple. I would agree IF our offensive line was fully intact. People will get tired of me saying it, but the offensive line dictates what type of offense you're going to have. When all but one starter is injured, then this is the end result. |
You know... now that I think about it: We lost two games we deserved to win, now we win one we deserved to lose. Let's just breathe a deep sigh of relief and look forward to next week. Personally, I'm excited to see how well our D does against that offense. It's going to be a huge measuring stick for them.
I think our D can totally take the Pats. Our D definitely fought their guts out. It was good to see those guys really dig deep and earn that win. Our offense on the other hand... |
Re: Cardinals vs Redskins game thread
They better find some wonder drugs for our ailing line this week!!!
|
Re: Cardinals vs Redskins game thread
This team is a disaster on offense. Al Saunders sucks ass!!! Our WR corp sucks ass!!!!!!! Our QB looked totally inadequate today. We are looking at last place in our division unless we can get our act together.

No man, I hear ya. In fact if you look back over most of my posts on this site you'll see I'm on your side. I just wonder if the fact that we are not getting a solid run off the bat means we have to use some quick passing to open it up a little. |
Re: Cardinals vs Redskins game thread
I hate to say it but our D can't take the Pats. No D in the NFL can take the Pats. I will be happy if we hold them to 31 points to be honest. And in the scenario our defense holds them to say 21 or something we still can't do it because our offense can't put up 21 points on bad defenses.

I agree.. I am a little iffy on Saunders now. Our WR don't suck, they just can't catch. Well... I guess that would make them a little sucky. I was upset that Moss didn't get more catches especially after that poor GB game. So I guess we have to wait till next week to see if he'll bounce back. The only reason JC didn't look great was because he didn't open it up very much and when he did, they were dropping passes. Last place in the division... I dunno. I don't think so. Our defense is too good. If the offense doesn't win games then the defense will (like today) I think we may look at a wildcard position at best. |

Let's go Vikings! I'd like to see the Cowboys get knocked off today...

I think we've tried some of that too. I just don't believe Portis is fully healthy. The problem with that too is that we're not getting good passing lines developed for that either. Maybe if we can throw in some more timing patterns to counter our injured line, that might help to open things up. |
Re: Cardinals vs Redskins game thread
On our last posession, what was up with that draw play on third and seven? To me that was almost saying "We're just going to give Arizona the ball back!" Why would you call that play on such a crucial posession? Is it because they don't want an interception? If that's the case, how we gonna win games with that kinda of crap play calling?

Aikman mentioned that last week, that something seemed a little off with him. You think that tendinitis is flaring up from time to time? |

Thing is we lost two of our best guys for the season, so our O line is going to be suspect the rest of the way. WE can't win too many more ball games with this offense, if any at all. Only winnable games if we do this poorly or even a little better is our game with the Jets and maybe Tampa Bay. I can't see us winning another divisional game with our O line this banged up and our offensive production so putrid. |
Re: Cardinals vs Redskins game thread
I think the quote of the day, is we lost games we deserved to win (both NYG/GB)...now we defintley won one that we should have lost.....I mean I'm very excited/happy we won...but that was one of the ugliest wins I've ever seen.

It seems to me we've always done that... No matter who's coached this team I can remember so many third and 5+ draw plays. Always pisses me off. It's like a Redskins' signature move... |

I don't have a problem on third & seven with the draw to keep the clock moving, but why on 2nd and 7 with an injured line and a pathetic passing game do you not run the ball or throw a high percentage pass to keep the clock moving....if we keep the clock moving on 2nd down AZ probably doesn't have time to get in FG range and may not have scored the TD. |

If our O line was intact I would say we would be a 2nd place team for sure, but not how things have looked the past 2 weeks. WR production is terrible this season. Llyod hasn't been on the radar screen all season, and now Santana decides to start dropping off the screen now also. I still say give McCardell some more playing time. The guy is a gamer and we need production now. |

I was thinking the same exact thing. This was a game we clearly deserved to lose.. In the paper that win counts as much as the Lions win but we'll take it. |

Yes! I completely agree. McCardell has been put in when we need big 1st down gains. He only has 2 or 3 catches but he caught them! Why they don't give this man more playing time I don't know! What the hell is the point of getting McCardell and Caldwell when you're not gonna freakin use them? |
Re: Cardinals vs Redskins game thread
Yeah I have to take back the stuff about JC. A QB is only as good as his WR corp. WE paid all these bums top dollar and we get crappy play in return. Snyder needs to quit dolling out the cash so fast. Build with the draft and address needs. I say trade these bums(Lloyd, Moss, shoot even Thrash to sweeten the pot) with the exception of maybe Randle El( Caldwell and McCardell are exempt from my wrath) and draft a WR or two.
|
Re: Cardinals vs Redskins game thread
I don't completely blame the WRs--they need opportunities to make plays. That involves calling plays that attempts to put the ball in their hands. Downfield preferably (not on end arounds)...
|
Re: Cardinals vs Redskins game thread
Have to catch a decent ball thrown your way though NYC to make plays. Saunders is an ass, and he is a big part of it(offensive woes), but dropped passes by this calibre of a WR corp is unacceptable.
|
Re: Cardinals vs Redskins game thread
TRADE MOSS?
hahahaha ur retarted dude.... well, ur username IS GUS fEROTTE so i guess im not surprised |
Re: Cardinals vs Redskins game thread
TRADE MOSS?
hahahaha ur retarted dude
Oh really? What has he really done this season? Do you want to wait for him to probably turn in another subpar season in '08 and nobody will want him then? Guy is a shorty in a big mans game. We need tall, strong WR's that can either be possesion receivers, or can jump up for the long ball. I think Moss is toast. Put McCardell and Caldewell in if this keeps up. Trade Moss after the season, get younger linemen from either side of the ball or better yet a draft pick. |

I agree--dropped passes are unacceptable. But you have to feed your playmakers. 1-2 passes/game to Moss/ARE/Lloyd is not acceptable. Our strength right now on offense is actually our QB. Let the kid sling it and stop handcuffing him with dink and dunk plays. If he is checking it down each time, fine, but I doubt that is happening. And if they want to run--how about trying it out of a 4 wide set? Spread the field and try Portis that way... |

That would be a huge mistake. It's not like Moss is on the downward spiral of his career, he's in his prime. You know what happens to Redskins trades and FA's: You let them go and they flourish somewhere else. He needs to be here, he will produce if given the time and chance (and yes, I know he's gotten a lot of chances). Moss is getting a bad rap cause he hasn't had a 2006 season so far this season. |
Re: Cardinals vs Redskins game thread
Do you want to know what's going on w/ the Skins? Players are beginning to actually lose confidence in the ability of their coaches! I said it would happen if the playcalling didn't improve and I think it's already here. Very obvious even before that Gibbs/Saunders completely lack ability to motivate our offensive guys - even when their play is decent it has not looked inspired this season. Now guys are doubting whether Gibbs/Saunders really have the ability to calling a winning game - the whole offense is completely dejected out there. Big questions now are whether the malaise spreads to the defense and how long the Gibbs/Saunders era will last.

Seems like that. Comcast post-game reporter was out there reporting Sellers trying to ask, why they got so conservative out there the whole game and then even moreso in the second half. And then kept going with the running game when it obviously wasn't effective. And man I've never seen a dude tap dance around questions so much. All he could say was, "I'm just a player, I go out there and do what they tell me. I won't know till we look at film". Boy, that interview was just uncomfortable to watch. :Smoker: |

I absolutely think you're on to something here. You know, while the offensive line has major issues, I still refuse to believe that's the bigger issue here. I think it's convienient to point to that, but these guys are playing inspired ball week in and week out. It's been a re-occuring theme for the past four years. Get a lead going into half-time and let the game slip away. And depending on how bad the other team is, we might come away with a win. I'm really done talking about it. |

The play calling has been horrendous for most of the season. Really lame and not like the Gibbs offense of old. I thought Saunders was going to open things up, but he has closed up the offense, and with all the talent we have, it is unbelievable what is going on. I also want to know where is Gibbs in all of this? Don't you think this guy who had a nice run n gun type thing going during his first run with the Skins would be thinking WTF is going on here?!! I mean his 1984 team had the season scoring record for over a decade, and his other teams were not too far off from the '84 mark either. The guy is a protege of Don Coreyll and he needs this bum Saunders to run the O? I am beginning to wonder exactly where does Coach Gibbs fit in all of this, I mean is he truly the HC or just sort of a figurehead like Joe Paterno is now at PSU or how Bear Bryant was during his last 5-6 seasons at Bama? A legend people love, but in reality isn't running the show. |

Its very simple.......we are 4-2 NOT 3-3! No one will remember in December how we got there.
