Well, as I understand it, if Campbell does end up in Denver it won't be because they wanted him but because we forced him on them
What the Redskins are reportedly proposing is not earth shattering though.
And that would be? |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Anyone think the Skins want cutler because they plan on going after Mike Shanahan next year ?
For me, its Cutlers alleged alcohol abuse. A diabetic has no business drinking alcohol AT ALL, let alone in the amounts Cutler is reported of as drinking. It also shows a pattern of self-destructive behavior. Cutler is too risky of a move.
That said, if we did trade a plethora of picks for Cutler, the Skins could make up for it by trading Campbell to Chicago for Briggs, straight up... oh wait, that makes no sense, nevermind.
I was hesitant to bring the diabetes up cuz it's so common...but yeah that should be a serious consideration. My uncle was a fantastic b-ball player, ready to get a full ride scholarship to college until his diabetes worsened, which can happen quickly and w/o much warning. ...I hate this Cutler business so much. Gonna have to dose myself to sleep tonight w/ something strong. |

Um let's see. I think what I heard (who heard it from a friend who heard it from friend who heard it from another you been messin' around...you take it on the run baby!!!) was Campbell, the 13th, and a 2nd or 3rd in 2010 for Cutler and their 3rd rounder (just before we pick) in 2009. But, I don't think the Broncos really want Campbell or draft picks for that matter. Golston or Montgomery could be appealing to them though |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
What's upsetting people the most about this alleged deal? Is it losing draft picks potentially? Is it just the idea of change again?
for me it would just be giving up too much IF that ends up being the case who's to say he doesn't fail here due to other inadequacies.. or that we can't find a few other potential stars due to potential picks lost.. if campbell fails this coming up year we could just say whatever, draft a 1st rounder next year, throw in a vet or colt for a year and try that out if the 1st rounder doesn't show ability to go at the moment |

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
I, for one, hope we do trade out of the first round (heck, the first day) because I got my wife a really cool Valentine's Day gift but like an idiot I scheduled it for April 25 so I'll be missing the draft anyway.

I actually work for Al-Jazeera TV in DC. I'm a double reverse covert undercover spy. If I stop talking sports...the terrorists win! |

In which case, as you said earlier, a 3rd team will pretty much have to be involved for it to go down. I wonder if Chicago or Tampa would like the idea of Campbell? |

I have a feelin the minute Aprils fools day is over it released that we got Cutler.

Sorry forgot to add another late (like 5th or 6th round) pick for us. Don't exactly know why they don't want picks. And I guess Coach Doogie isn't that big on Campbell |

Hmm, maybe we should dangle Golston or Monty to get one of those picks they don't want. LOL. |

people saying that denver wants it to happen before the draft, obviously to get picks ASAP and do the research and you know how quickly we get deals done if we get our way... if we're players I'd say sooner than later |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
yay now the real fun starts!!!!!
:( If by some miracle we pull off a reasonable deal and land Cutler I might not be that bothered but if we dare overpay I'm gonna flip out. |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Can anyone tell me exactly when Cutler turned into a hotshit, because I must have missed that. He hardly seems worth getting into a twist about.
|
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
I think that would be a bit too much for the skins to pay for Cutler. I dont want to see the skins trade #13 unless we get at least #2 back in any trade. But JC, Golston/Monty #1 for Cutler and #2 i could live with. Or maybe even JC and Rogers for Cutler.
|
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
The later Denver waits the less they could get for him I would think. It would put them in a bind to get rid of him. Plus if they hurry it gives us less time to figure out that this is a move we don't really need to make.

Ive been saying for months that Chicago (along with Tennessee and Minnesota) would be ideal destinations for Campbell. Not too familiar with Tampa Bay. Since theyre considered "finalists" in the bidding for Cutler, i doubt they would be willing to be part of a 3-way trade where they got Campbell. Also, Smoots speculated/rumored trade of a 1st, Campbell and 2010 2nd/3rd for Cutler and their 2009 3rd rounder wouldnt be a bad trade for us if the reports about Cutlers alcohol problem were false. Cutler would be a great franchise QB in the WCO if healthy... getting him that cheap (again, ignoring his alcohol concerns) would be a steal on our part. Franchise QBs are worth far more than what we'd be giving up. If Cutler can manage his diabetes responsibly, its worth taking the hit (of essentially just a first rounder this year) to have a position of perpetual instability locked up for the next decade. Again, it all comes down to Cutlers management of his diabetes in my book. If he's being responsible with his personal health, then the alleged deal would be well worth it. If he's not, then he's not even worth a 2010 3rd rounder. |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Huh?
saying that now that he's been in zorn's system he'd be a candidate for landing the qb job in seattle i'm guessing |

If they hurry they also know they can exploit Danny's impulsiveness and get him to give too much. Otherwise, in Danny's eyes, the Jets, Tampa, or whoever would have too much time to get his guy. |

Do you think that it's a stretch that the Broncos want him out of the AFC completely.. or maybe just the division? Not that I can see the teams in his division wanting him |

No, I was saying that Campbell's biggest supporter on the team the past couple of years is actually no longer on the team. He, Bill Lazor, is now in Seattle. |

This is all very undude.

The only AFC team that appears to be a big player for him seems to be the Jets. Not sure why the Broncos would worry too much about sending him there. I think it would be funny watching the New York media eat his lunch. |

I heard The Danny say in an interview that what he learned from Gibbs was patience. Does this dude have a problem with retaining football knowledge or what? |

You know I am not a basher and this whole thing is killing me. First, it throws us into turmoil and change AGAIN. We simply cannot make drastic course changes every two years. THere has to be some sense of direction, some confidence that the sacrifices of today are meant to strengthen the org in the long haul. SOmething that says we aren't just trying to win one more game next year...we're trying to build a lasting strong organization. Trading away assets for what really seems like only a marginal upgrade isn't that. Especially when we have clear and admnitted deficiencies that those assets could help address. Second, we are going to overpay. This deal is done. My opinion of course but let's be honest. When was the last time that a situation presented itself and Dan Snyder decided he wanted to do it and DIDN'T get it done? The fact that we have reached the point where it is common knowledge that we are trying to pull this means to me that DS has reached that point. He'll make it happen and it is gonna hurt us long run. It is. I like Cutler as a player. I think talent wise he is an upgrade. NOt a huge upgrade though. Leadership wise he seems to me to be clearly lacking. Denver has screwed the pooch on this but Cutler held the dog down as they did it. Straight up I can't argue with the move but this isn't going to happen straight up. |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Yeah. Once Snyder starts working the deal, he's going to do something. He HAS to do something. He seems strangely unable to walk away from the table, which is an odd quality in a suppossedly great business mind.

I guess he looks at the Skins as a toy and since he has so much money to throw around, he does. He comes across as a spoiled little brat to me. |

Carlos Rodgers now in the mix as trade bait.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
When does it end? I mean, really? This franchise is rapidly becoming a joke. Patience and stability will never prevail with this owner and his FO. The weather is getting warmer here in the ATL and every time I venture into my closet to grab a ‘Skins shirt to wear outside I hesitate. I’m losing that lovin’ feeling and I fear it’s almost gone…gone…gone…whoa whoa wo. Ugh, I hope to awake later to discover this whole thing a very bad dream.
