That makes me pretty happy.

I wouldn't have been surprised to see Shanny run the opposite direction after that shit show last night.
Actually, if Shanahan signs with us then last night was actually a very very very good thing - it means he'll be more incined to take an Offensive linemen in the first round than a quarterback. Our OL was simply the worst i've ever seen it last night.

I remain uncertain because memories fade but I think this year's OL is the worst Skins OL I have seen in almost 40 years of watching.

We all screamed about the O-line before the season started and during the draft. Now that we've been proven right we're 4-10. What a crock!
that's absolutely great news. thanks for updating us.

So when you say the ink is all but dry, does that mean he has actually signed some sort of secret paperwork, or have he and "SnydAll" simply reached an agreement in principle?

I doubt the former is true, so if the later, do you have any idea what the terms of the contral will be (i.e. years/dollars/control/title(s), etc.)?

If the former is true, then have the skins somehow found a way to satisfy the rooney rule even though there is no head coaching vacancy at present?
Don't really know any of those specifics. Just had someone verrrry close to Shanahan tell me this afternoon he'll be coaching the Redskins. They could be wrong, and things could change, but it's one of my best Shanahan sources (not that I have many)

He may not be the GOAT as a coach...but Shanahan will at least make us a respectable franchise again.

BTW- People keep asking "why keep Zorn around"...to ensure we tank the last couple of games and get a to 5 pick!

The smartest thing to do would be to fire Zorn right now so Shanahan can come in and get that much more of a jump start to next season...but we are the redskins and so we make everything more complicated lol.

Really... what could Shanahan do in the next 2 weeks that would make a difference to next season?

There's no point in doing that at this point. We've got 14 days before he's named head coach. Nothing he'd do in the next 2 weeks would matter.

I agree. I was leaning towards wanting Zorn back but last night did it for me. At least we'll have someone who knows how to gameplan and attack the other teams weakness. I was hoping Zorn would've got the ax today after that fake fg attempt.

If anyone is holding up this scenario, it is Shanahan. I think he does not want to take over until the end of the season out of respect for Zorn.

I agree. Plus I don't see how stepping into this clusterf**k with 2 games left in the season would benefit Shanny. Especially without being able to bring in his own assistants. Maybe he can teach Dan how to treat his coach and QB while he's here.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
I agree that Snyder backing the eff off is great thing. I was listening to 980 early this morning, and Hanrahan was saying that Bruce Allen's job won't really be personnel. He's going to be an administrative guy, handling organizational structure, player contracts, things of that nature.

As far as picking players, they were saying that will be in large part Mike Shanahan's job. That concerns me a bit. He wasn't a great personnel guy in Denver by any means. Shanahan will also likely be team president. I guess I'm worried about how expansive his role will be. I'm much rather he just coach, but then again if that's all we wanted from him we probably couldn't get him.
This is what has always confused me. One would think the HC and coaching staff would know what type of players they need to fit into their system. I guess it's nice to have scouts to go out and look at these players and physically get an idea of how well they play and how well they might work out, but to have a GM totally picking your players when he's not the one coaching them is crazy to me. Plus with Cerrato when he was here he is more of a WCO GM or where he hailed from. Norv, Marty, Spurrier, and Gibb2 are not WCO style of coach's which I would assume make Cerrato's duty even harder. Maybe why Cerrato did better the last 2 yrs with Zorn....Thomas, Davis, and Ganther.

I'm guessing to ease all your minds Shanahan will present who he would like to both DS and Allen and all three will decide. Kinda like what Gibbs was doing.

I agree. He's better off sitting back watching the games and evaluating the players and deciding who he might want to cut and upgrade their spot. Plus getting his coaching staff together.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal

Are you guys having the same problem I am....for the last 2 yrs I have been unable to purchase Redskins items cause I did not want to keep lining DS's pocket as long as this team continued to be mediocre, Cerrato was still with the team, and Zorn not fired. Basically it was a personal decision to not put money in DS's pocket until there was change.

Since Cerrato's demotion, and Allen's announcement I have been looking at Skins gear while out X-Mas shopping. I find myself wanting to purchase something due to the excitement and knowledge that there will be change. I pick up the gear look at it hold it in my hand and put it back on the shelf. It's like someone is saying "wait......wait....more change is needed."

I think when the old regime is out and the new regime is in place I'll finally purchase some gear knowing that the changes are better then what we currently have and most likely will improve the team. Kinda a "Thank You DS." New gear for the new regime.

that doesn't help

staff and a lot of roster will have to be evaluated after the playoffs and/or superbowl

I see so you would like to have 2 Chris Cooley jerseys, a Redskins grill, 5 hats, 2 wrist bands, a cheerleading calender, a hoodie, 2 leather caps, and a foam finger shipped to you in late April or early May?

I don't know what Snyder will do. But, I hope he fires Zorn right after the regular season is over with and hires Shanahan an hour later.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal

I think its safe to say we can count the time from when the Chargers game is over and Zorn is fired in minutes, rather than hours or days.

While there's no garauntee Snyder lets Zorn keep his job until after the post-game press conference, I think he probably will. I'd say Zorn will be fired no later than 8:30PM on January 3rd and Shanahan's named our head coach within 24 hours. I imagine his introductory press conference will be Tuesday the 5th at 12:30.

Yeah, could we have done any worse with JGray or DSmith as interim coach. I was all about giving Zorn a chance in these two NFC E matches, but now, I just want to avoid humiliation, let alone win.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal

I was all for bringing Zorn back but with the lack of support from the FO and the "public castration" he's gone through, I think the damage that's been done is probably irreversible. At least within this organization. I would let him go right after the season ends and announce the new coach. Fair..unfair...whatever, it's time to move on.
