Re: Redskins FA Eve
jamal williams wouldn't be a bad signing despite his age. Unlike Griffin, Williams is a 3-4 NT and wouldn't be a bad one-year stop-gap.

Re: Redskins FA Eve
I wonder how hands of "who can I sign" the skins can play at once tonight? Is it really feasible to sign 3 or 4 players tonight?
Let's wait till the end of the weekend till we say that. Other than losing Chris Samuels which is no surprise, we have only cut Randy Thomas. He hasn't really played a full season in years.
He got old quick ot going definately not going to be the next Ray Brown.
Well Levi Jones and (I believe) Mike Williams become free agents in 2.5 hours. |

OK, that was funny. |
Re: Redskins FA Eve
From what I heard on NFL network he isn't a starter. A good guy to have in the rotation, but not an every down guy.

It would be an awsome signing. He is younger than Griffin and way better. That would allow Haynesworth to play end, which would be awsome. At least on some downs. |
Re: Redskins FA Eve
Casey Rabach signed a 3 year extention for 12.3 million.

Griffin and Williams are both 33. However, I think Griffin is ready to hang it up, whereas Williams may have one or two years. Besides, I think we would need to rotate NTs...hopefully we can pick up a NT in the mid to late rounds. |
No I just threw it out there. Heck, I didn't even know he's been released. When did that happen?
Ummm, uhhh, would you believe me if I said my last name was DuBois and I saw it in a dream? Or do you want the truth and know that I read a rumor on ESPN Insider saying he might be released which I misinterpreted as already released? |
re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Smootsmack, have you heard anything on Jamal Williams? Will the Skins bring him in at the NT position??

He has injury problems just like Corny but he is definitely built for the role better than Griffin. |
re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Jay Glazer reports: 1) Delhomme is OUT in Carolina (that's $19MM for one season, for those with me on the contract watch), and 2) Cromartie to the Jets is a nearly done deal for a 2011 pick, either a 2nd or 3rd.

I'll handle the truth. Yeah I heard the other day he might be released, but I mean it's the Raiders so who knows but never heard he'd actually been released. I had mentioned Williams a couple of weeks ago as a stopgap NT, but that was just my own speculation. In actuality, there isn't much interest in him. Not now at least. |

Wow, Revis and Cromartie? That should be a good DB tandem. |

Doubt it. Cromartie will be only as good as the pass rush and his ability to stay disciplined. That said, he probably can't be worse than Sheppard in Ryan's view. |
re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Wow, Revis and Cromartie? That should be a good DB tandem.
They had a legitimate shot as Asomugha. This move doesn't really change the Jets defensive projection any, as quarterbacks will just avoid Revis and pick on Cromartie all the time.

re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
The Jets know what they're doing...it still feels strange and new but true nonetheless.

Would Cromartie be an update over Sheppard though? On other news a possible Lions-Browns trade... Sources: Cleveland Browns to trade Corey Willliams to Detroit Lions for draft pick - ESPN |
re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Can anyone tell me if there were any rule changes regarding tampering. I just was curious if the rules were relaxed from last year.

Cromartie's a lot younger, perhaps there is a development factor here. |

ESPN Text just said Cromartie to the Jets for 2011 3rd rounder

Man that means we'll easily get a first rounder for Campbell. |

So how would this set the price for a possible Rogers trade? If it is possible. |

I don't know if anyone's posted it yet but Comcast is reporting Rabach will sign a 3 year deal with us.

You're right I was being crazy. I'll rephrase. Man we could get 32 first rounders for Campbell. |

DB, how do we get you as our GM, if you can pull that off!

Still not counting, but just over 1 hour to go. Bruce's speed dial finger must be getting itchy!

Re: Redskins FA Eve
Looking like there may be another LT out there...Chad Clifton.

Wasn't he tendered?

Don't think so.
I don't want him by the way |

^^ Why not?

34 years old at the start of the season. What do we need him for? Just keep Levi

What's the likelihood we keep Jones? ...I bet he still wants to start, though he can't expect a payday in this market and w/ this year's draft talent. I think he's a huge upgrade over Heyer at RT and would accept him playing there for a year or two...assuming we have a new stud at LT. |
