If you guys dont think this trade is freakin exactly what we needed.....The numbers say it all
2009 Philadelphia Eagles Mc Nabb stats 22 td's- 10 Ints-3,553 yards- 92.3% completions %......Havent seen those numbers in Washington since Doug Williams!!
I don't think any franchise has seen a QB complete 92.3% of his passes like McNabb did last year.

Well Shanny just made a big acquisition at QB, I think he'd would want the best LT in the draft to watch McNabb's blind side.

I like it. We could still keep JC, have him ride pine this year and get the mentoring from a good Vet. I think the draft threads should calm down now also, but you never know. We might still draft a QB?

I agree, but what is the staffs grade of the lineman? The difference between the best tackle and the 3rd best might not be as great to them as opposed to us and the media.

sort of off-topic, but huge day in sports tomorrow-McNabb trade talk, MLB opening day, NCAA Championship game, Tiger speaks at Augusta
Ya, huge day tommorrow. Augusta national is about 300 yards away from my front door. Traffic sucks on Washington Blvd. I did rent out 3 parking spots in front of my house for 35 dollars a day, each, so, I just have to go the back way to fort gordon this week..........

I really hope we get some draft picks from somewhere, or that the situation presents itself to trade down for add'l picks.

We gotta get soething for Capbell now tho, we have to. I hope JC like cold weather..........(Buffalo BIlls?...........)

Wow... Had hoped to see a question mark rather than an exclamation in the post subject. It was awesome to catch this in time for Fox News' 'fan reaction' interviews. I believe the first comment was 'we have a great line, great receivers, and now a great quarterback.' Apparently they weren't a Washington fan. Clearly they were interviewing philly fans...

At any rate, things looked so promising as though Snyder really was stepping back. Now we get another has-been to come get some of that Snyder funded retirement cheese.

I hope like crazy they intend to build through the draft or surprise us with a high profile trade like this to address the real problem in the O line.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

A.S. made a good point, Elway was over a year older when shanny started in denver in 95 than Donovan is now, plus in Denver, they didnt have the defense that we do. Address the line in this draft, and we will compete for the NFC East this year.
There's got to be more here, I would think.
Just got the news, your statement is what I keep thinking about.

There has been no contract discussion, so it's not outside the realm of possibility McNabb is traded on draft day. What do we know:

1) We're not "boxed in" on a starting LT or QB at #4.
2) The FO does not have enough faith in Campbell to go into the season with him as the starting option at QB.
3) We will likely be making more trades either right before or during the draft for picks in the 2-3 round range.

Let's say we stand pat, McNabb is a major upgrade over Campbell (if healthy) for the next two seasons. We will come away with one of the top 2 LTs or more picks in the first round, or both. What did we lose, our second rounder....who many here were saying to use on Colt McCoy. McNabb is light years ahead of what McCoy will ever be.

Sure it's possible. Doesn't mean anything close to this will happen.

I gotta say, I do firmly believe we'll either find a trade partner for our 4th pick and acquire multiple lower picks and/or move at least one or two players for picks.

I don't care who our QB is, if the line doesn't drastically improve, nothing else will matter.

McNabb scrabbling ability can make a bad line look decent.

I heard a rumor that Vinny Cerrato was at Redskins HQ this week.I thought it was a great April Fool's joke, but I guess it was true based on this move.

I absolutely hate this trade. I know McNabb is a pretty good QB, but he's also a 34-year-old choke artist. I would've much rather rode it out with Campbell this year and get a young, franchise QB next year. I think this is going to turn out to be a horrible mistake.

Well I'm going off with a bit of common sense here, the higher you pick the better you have at getting that best tackle. Now, we may not necessarily drop down that far, I mean a Buffalo or Cleveland may trade with us and we can still pick up a Trent Williams (who many see just as good if not better than Okung).

I'm not picking at health, but he now regularly misses one or two games. So what he gives us isn't that much, and we know he :vomit: in the sb, not that we will get there before he moves on to the Vikings.

Well, look on the bright side. McNabb is not going to have one-dimensional playcaller who abandons the run or never bothers to establish it. He's also going to have plenty of oppurtunities to roll out or pass on a bootleg.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

Live oOn ESPN news a little while ago Andy Reid said, "if Donovan McNabb were here in philly he would be the starter no question."
That made me realize the high caliber of player we are getting at the most important position on the field.
With our incredibly talented young TE's and WR's...and Portis, Johnson and Parker in the backfield we have instantly upgraded to a legitimate NFL offense overnight.
Shanahan and his staff combined with a McNabb is a major deal.
Now we get the best LT available at #4 which will be an immeadiate starter. .

I agree the line need to be the 1st thing we should be fixed with or without McNabb all I am saying is we very well could be contenders this year. Depending on the moves we make from here on out.
