Na, what I'm saying is if he were to decide to get into coaching I'd imagine he might want to be working with his brother, ie; to help make him a better QB. Not that Eli is bad, just that I'd expect that if Payton were to change teams and become a coach he might want to be helping out his brothers team as opposed to an opponant to his brother (Skins). |
Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...
The NFL is a hard business on fans not just players.. Think about it for a min. How long has it been since the Skins were a true playoff contender? 20 years. **** I'm only 25 and I've been a life long fan so losing is all I know, thats pretty damn hard to take. GB went what 30 years between the first 2 SB's and Favre's? That's a damn lifetime for some.

Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...
Mel Kiper just reported Skins aren't interested in Matt Flynn, but would prefer Peyton Manning. Also that either Cleveland or the Skins could trade up to get RG3.

I'd rather have Flynn or Foles or Tannehill than a non healthy Manning. |

A non-healthy Manning means he's not coming back.

Right, and I'm saying I doubt he would want to go to NY and overshadow or take anything away from Eli. NY is Eli's town and I think PM knows that. It's not like Eli needs much coaching up at this point anyway. |
I'd rather have Flynn or Foles or Tannehill than a non healthy Manning.
Come on, you would rather have John Beck than a "non healthy Manning". If Peyton Manning is too injured to play, even John Beck is a better option. ANY discussion of Peyton Manning's use or value to the Redskins must assume that - - on the first snap of the 2012 season - - he is fully healthy and ready to play. Once the season starts, he like EVERY other QB on EVERY roster in the league is open to injury. I have not seen Peyton Manning's X-Rays - - and even if they were delivered to me in the next five minutes, I would be unable to look at them and make a decision as to his likely ability to play NFL football next September. Just a hunch here, but I doubt that anyone else posting here has seen those X-Rays either. Obviously, if Peyton Manning cannot play he is of no value to any team in the NFL as a QB. So, IF the Redskins find a means to acquire him in the next few months, there are only two conclusions you can draw:
1. The Redskins have retained the services of an orthopedic doctor in whom they have complete confidence who has reviewed Manning's medical history and examined Manning thoroughly and that doctor has told the Redskins that in his professional opinion, Peyton Manning is physically prepared to play NFL football. 2. The Redskins are rolling the dice and hoping they do not come up snake-eyes.
|
Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...
I'd rather have a non-healthy Manning then John Beck. Would get the same production and I would have an open roster spot for someone else.

He might have well just said the Skins are looking at all their options in regards to the QB situation. |
How the redskins can not be interested in Flynn Blows my mind, also mel is good but he's the same guy that said Reggie bush was Barry Sanders and Walter Payton like.. Oh and that Jimmy clausen was a can't miss qb. Js he can be way off at times

#HTTR
Maybe a 7th round pick with a 62% completion percentage, 9 TDs, 5 INTs, and 2 fumbles in a limited number of games isn't that great? He's got more of a chance to be Kevin Kolb than he does Tom Brady IMO. |

#HTTR
I'm not saying that we shouldn't get him but...Flynn is very high risk because there is such limited film on him and he played well under relatively ideal conditions (several years learning one system). If you are risk-averse, Flynn may not be your guy. |

Again I see the stats but coming from a team that just had rex and beck, idt we should skip on anyone #HTTR |
Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...
It sounds as if Mel Kiper came out with some breaking news that the Redskins have declared they are not interested in Matt Flynn.
But that's not the case at all, Mel was merely on a conference call with reporters and in answering one of several QB questions said that he has heard (and I've brought this up here before...since Mel and I are the same person...j/k) that the Redskins are not really interested in Flynn, that they don't value him as highly as people believe. On the other hand, Chris Russell says they are indeed very interested. It's all informed speculation at this point. No one knows for sure because it's simply too early to know. It's no report per se. Look, a couple of years ago I told you all that the Redskins had no interest in Julius Peppers based on what I'd heard. Other "insiders" said they did...turns out they didn't. Last year both Chris Russell and I heard (perhaps from the same source) that the Redskins were serious about Sidney Rice...turns out they weren't All I'm saying is, while Mel and I (and others) don't think the Redskins are seriously interested in Flynn, there is nothing to really report. So don't take what anyone speculates at this point as gospel. /end rant |

Kids are inching closer and closer to the cliff. I especially get a kick out of reports like this. You never know the types of smokescreens are being thrown around. I can see Shanny sitting back telling reporters bullshit just to get a storm created and laughing his ass off. Point is, you can't believe anything until it happens. Even if it is correct info at the time, chances are it'll change before it ever happens. That said, we aren't interested in Flynn. :) |
Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...
If I were Shanahan I'd say I'm interest in any QB the throw at me
"Coach, how would you feel about getting Peyton Manning?" "Oh I'd love to have Peyton on this team." "Mike how do you feel about Luck?" "He's the best QB in this draft, I'd sure love to have him" "how about RG3?" "Oh man I'm going to do whatever to get him" "Flynn?" "Oh I'm very interested in him" "Jeff George?" "He's the great QB we need" haha |

I played fantasy football this year, and so I watched the talking heads on the NFL Network every week. They were always frustrated with Shanahan because they never knew who would start for the Redskins, especially at running back. Mike husbands his information, gives nothing away. Same deal in the offseason; he gives nothing away. He guards every morsel of information. Makes it hard for fans and analysts to get solid offseason info. That leaves us with nothing but speculation to talk about, which can be fun, but probably not worth getting too excited about. Just have to wait and see what happens. |

Terrell Owens just signed on with the Indoor Football League. His team is in Allen Texas - - a bit north of Dallas. He tweeted to his fans/followers that he would see them in the end zone. Hey, that worked just swell for Anthony Armstrong and Fred Jackson; they went from the IFL to the NFL. Problem here is that T.O. is going from the NFL to the IFL. In general, that is not a good trend... |
Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...
Thought that Saturday would retire or thinking of it. Or Peyton getting traded over Luck. Colts are cleaning up house it seems with a new GM.
