http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/50918-rg3-cleared-to-play-update-17.html#post985235 I was saying last night that I felt like he tore his LCL in the Ravens game and shanahan was trying to cover it up but people thought I was being ridiculous. Now these reports are coming out. |
Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
nah, they're just saying he's out for 48-60 months
haha no they're showing in 5 slides a countdown as to which ligament he most likely teared. #5 LCL.. |
Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
It's no secret that he sprained his LCL against Baltimore. Pretty widely know that the rest of his knee was aggravated, including the ACL. Sprained against Baltimore? Not so sure about that
|
Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
John Clayton said on SC "Worst case is it's an ACL Tear but the good news is they can do surgery tomorrow if that's the case, looking at 8 months if in fact it's torn"
Totally agree RG3 has some blame in this, if in fact these rumors are true.
I would imagine his father has some blame too then. He pushes RG III to be great and some of the toughness he displays is his desire to not leave until he can't walk. That is an army attitude. Blame them all and fire them all. lol |

Worst case only an ACL tear? Not what he told me. ****ing Clayton |

Lol I'm just going by what he said on sc. |
was it andy griffith who said that?
It was Aunt Bee telling Andy. Aunt Bee was the brains behind the operation. |

You get info from the crypt keeper? |
So they couldn't tell if the ACL was totally torn because of 2 screws that are in his knee from the 2009 injury. The LCL is just partially torn and hoping that's the same with the ACL. Either way it looks like KC will be starting week 1. Hopefully griff can come back 100% from this. Just sucks to see such a great guy and player have this happen to him.

Surgery tomorrow? Don't they need to prepare or like have cadaver ligaments ready or something? Seems like a short timeline, but whateves if they fix him tomorrow, that'd be great! |

He said because the swelling of his prior injury against Baltimore is down, that surgery could be done tomorrow. Again hopefully that's not needed. And if it is its not the worst case of an ACL tear |

I get info from a few people, Clayton among them. Though to be honest, Clayton and I have not directly spoken about today's events. I don't think "no surgery" is an option. |

Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
No, not at all. Not seeing him play QB for the Redskins until summer 2014 would be worst case

Well that eases the mind a bit |
I can't imagine he won't have surgery--at least exploratory. That's my opinion, as a physician, though I am not an orthopedic surgeon.
They have to see what's going on with the ACL. Even a partial tear will require a reconstruction-likely from taking part of his hamstring tendon since he's already had one repair. I've currently got an ACL tear that's partial/complete on MRI. Hard to tell. Basically have to go in and repair it according to my doc. Its a 9-12 month recovery. Probably less for RG3 in terms of recovery given that he is young and an elite athlete. But given that this is his second time-I think Skins management should not rush him back. Plan to start Cousins for the beginning of the next season. Assess Griffin as the season goes on. This is going to be a reverse Strasburg situation if you will... |
So, disappointing to be dealing with the same situation at the beginning of next year that we had toward the end of this one.

Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
Okay, time to try to make some lemonade -
We draft a QB in the 3rd or 4th round. RGIII is out in the early part of the season. KC has starter reps through OTA's, preseason and plays very well the first part of the season. At our bye week, RGIII is injury free and makes an AP like return, heroically leading the team all the way to the SB. KC's play has teams drooling for him and the bidding starts at a first rounder plus something. .... or, 2013 could just suck. |
How can you know on January 7, 2013 that a player will be out for next year when "next year" doesn't start until probably September 8th 2013? That's 8 months away!! Is everyone with a twitter account and expert? HTTR24_7? Who is that anyway and why should be care?
He's an insider but this situation is probably being played close to the chest. |

That would be unfair wouldnt it? Having probably the 2 best players in the NFL. |
Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
I’m rethinking this thread title now because I’m genuinely pissed off.
Between Griffins ego and Shanahans ineptness we are now looking at a way to salvage 2013 instead of planning the Super Bowl route. The boy should have been benched at the half and Cousins should have finished the season win or lose. |

So we'll find whether Kirk Cousins is the real deal. Assuming we don't get killed the first few games, could be a good thing... How's that for a silver lining? And RG won the Heisman after the last ACL... |

"Insiders" information should probably be taken with a grain of salt IMO, given that we have had at least one piece of false information that had to be retracted. |
