Hail to Shannahan and Allen!!! Gotta to give it to Snyder for learning that owners aren't always the best football personnel people. Great job Front Office!

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II

You have to consider this offseason a huge success for the Redskins.. We retained everyone but LoAx who while valuable, was a 30 year old special teams player/backup LB who was offered starter money by someone else. IF we sign Winfield one a one year deal, even better. Great job by the front office to keep the team together and not do too much damage to the cap in the future.

Good to sign Davis back. I heard Davis on NFL Network last week and he seems like he's ready to go. Nice move by the front office!

Totally agree it has set us up nicely for the future. Look forward to the draft!

Smart choice by Davis. Who would really want to go to Buffalo anyway? Especially when their offer really wasn't anything that great over ours?

If he has a nice year in 2013 he'll get the long term deal he's looking for.

I agree 100% great off season given the cap penalty.

Sign Winfield or another vet CB and it is on to the draft for the rest.

Tandler's most recent post "Redskins Avoid Cap-tastrophe" says we have somewhere near 30 mil in space next year and 12 impact FA. Nice job FO.

A chunk of that 30 million can go towards retaining young core players Rak, T. Williams, Davis on extensions. The timing of the penalty (as BS as it was) worked in our favor as well. If it was in 2014 that could cost us one of our premier young stars. Mara's got to be fuming that his scheme didn't work.

Best outcome for the team too, a one year deal!

Also, we're pushing hard for Winfield. A "full-court press..."

It is got suck to be the Bills; has to be one of the less desirable NFL stops. I mean if you go to the Raiders at least you be in sunny CAL.

I agree. Glad to see the spending 50 million on a player days are over. Now the skins are spending that money on players that they actually developed.

I wouldn't call Oakland the sunny part of California, but you can always live in San Fran and commute. I think its between Cleveland and Buffalo, possibly Cincinnati but at least they had a winning team last year.

The underlying story of this free agency and draft (and hopefully for years to come) will be players wanting to play with RGIII.

The comparison revolts me <cough> but it's similar in magnitude <cough> as the deal <cough> that the Cowboys made for the Triplets. <Barf>

In my opinion it will be seen, in hindsight, the same way.

Also, Dallas and the Giants have lost some key faces. And Romo's future is still very much in the air.

I concur with this. I'm satisfied with what they are doing. The one thing I'm skeptical about is having Fletcher around at his high cap number. I mean, if the Bears weren't willing to pay Urlacher 3 million, than why in the **** are we paying Fletch 5+ mil. Hell, I'd rather have Urlacher at a cheaper cost.

Because Fletcher is an integral part of our D and a better player.

Fletcher has a bit more left in the thank that Urlacher at this point. His left knee is shot. The Bears were probably glad he didn't take their offer.

Urlacher is really not good at all anymore. But London will need to be replaced, his play has obviously declined. There are some potential upgrades in the draft. We will see.

As far as Urlacher and Fletcher talk. Let me make this as simple as possible for you. Fletcher has yet to miss a game. Urlacher misses many games every year now.

I actually liked the way Shanahan respected Londons stature as a Redskin, when he looked the media in the eye and said he wouldn't ask a man/player like LF to take a paycut.

I think this FO has done a great job of allowing our guys the ability to test the market but also letting them feel engaged and respected by the skins.

Its just nice knowing that our team is run professionally and competently.

Dallas has dug themselves into a deep world of hurt. Where we seemingly have rode out the worst of the penalty and are basically on track next year or latest the following, they look to have 140mill against next years cap and may lose romo too. I am glad snyder learned.

“The greatest happiness is to vanquish your enemies, to chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth, to see those dear to them bathed in tears, to clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters.” G Khan

It's how I feel about the possible collapse of the NFC East, then the NFL, before the mighty RGIII-lead burgundy and gold army.

It's 'our' time. We can be like the Niners during their heyday when their divisional competition was practically non-existent, allowing them to ease into the post-season year after year.

Dynasty.

And the Eagles have a joke of a coach and no quarterback to speak of. The Giants already seemed to be on the decline and lost a number of key players.

The skins are poised to dominate the division for years to come.

I'm so glad Fred Davis is back. I'm just wondering. Did anyone else feel like he was going to be a bigger weapon in the offense w/ RGIII as QB than he really was before he got hurt? I felt like he could be a top 5 TE, but we was doing about as good as he was with Grossman at QB. With Grossman, I remembered Davis being underthrown on a number of occasions where he was wide open down the field. With the upgrade at QB, I was dying to see those plays be TDs, but it just didn't happen. Maybe, it was because he didn't play as much with Pierre on the field too, so DEFs keyed on him more? I'm glad he's back on a prove it deal, and I hope he does. Let's lock up Antoinne now!

Exactly...it's a respect factor and a good way to do business. That wasn't the case around here for a long time. Although I have not agreed with some things Shanahan has done, at least we are now a professionally run NFL franchise.

I dont know whats funnier...

Cowboys fans having to deal with Jerry Jones...

Or Cowboys fans realizing that every Cleveland Brown fan and every Jacksonville Jaguar fan just said in unison "Well at least we arent Dallas".

Im so glad we are done with the whole Snyderatto train wreck that we dealt with for so long. Would much rather talk about the state of RG3's knee instead of the idiotic signings that we made and winning the offseason but nothing else.
