Re: Draft talk rounds 4-7
The deal with the rbs is this...shanny drafted them. That means they can play rb in the NFL.
Any one running behind this line (especially with RG3) is gonna have success.
True, but if you have proven talent, why discard it? Jamison looks rather versatile though. He could be our version of Jamie Morris or Darren Sproles. Hopefully our moves with the line will help keep our line tops! |
LOL, yeah right , you think and INT is going to bother Eli, really?
No I hope he is unfazed by them and continues to throw them without worrying about it. |
Helu is a question mark because of the injury, but Royster I thought gave us decent production for being a #3. And if you did want a potential young replacement, why draft a kid that is oft injured? I don't know anything about Jameson to really say anything at this point. Big East ball doesn't get much play here in MI.
Royster didn't do much at all last year IMO. People were saying the same thing last year with Morris. |

Not questioning the actual picks. Is our backfield that suspect that we needed 2 RBs though? That is the heart of the debate. |

I really like the reed pick for us specifically. He'll be a nice target for kirk/bob and part of a matchup nightmare scheme. |

Helu hasn't been able to stay healthy and what has Royster done to cement a spot? I'm all for bringing in more playmakers. |

Value picks at that point. They'll play teams if they make the team. Plus really royster was ehhh last year and helu can't be counted on. |

Re: Draft talk rounds 4-7
What I like a lot is that we really didn't reach anywhere.

The right anybodies. Both guys have skillsets that match the zbs and do something good like catch the ball (Thompson) and pass protect (Jamison) |
Re: Draft talk rounds 4-7
i'm happy with day 3. if shanny drafts an RB... I approve. that's it. doesn't matter if i don't know them or no one's heard about them, he's proved he's the smartest guy in the world in regards to late round RBs.
and behind morris we got nothing. we'd have helu, if he could stay healthy. really happy with day 3. rambo in the 6th is good value, and 3 DBs that could potentially start this year is great. I really think our FO did a great job of addressing our needs this offseason. future TE/TE #2 and RB #2 are important for flexibility and i think pashos and the 4 new DBs should really help us with our pass D. |
Helu hasn't been able to stay healthy and what has Royster done to cement a spot?
I really like the reed pick for us specifically. He'll be a nice target for kirk/bob and part of a matchup nightmare scheme.
Reed I think fits more what we want to be than what we are.
I think that consistent with what we've done over the last few years, the Redskins have given draft value early, and gotten it late, if that makes sense. I think the Redskins are just typically very picky with who they get early in the draft, but later in the draft, they open it up a lot and typically get a lot of value. |
I'm suddenly excited about our D. Orakpo, Carriker, Crawford, Hall & Wilson combined with Merriweather & Thomas/Rambo. Plus, I was starting to like Bernestine as well.
Definite upgrades over Madieu which will help our DB's dramatically plus our pass rush will be improved with Rak, Carriker & B. Jenkins. I don't feel like I'm drinking kool-aid either. We could end up being really good next year if the OL stays healthy. |
Re: Draft talk rounds 4-7
Eagles are a HUGE wild card. I'm hoping that Chip Kelly becomes the next Spurrier while Barkley, at least in Philly, ends up being the next Leinart-Sanchez-Booty-Palmer post injury. Could easily go either way. In Philly he will have bookend tackles, receivers, a running back, and an offensive minded coach, basically a lot of what he had his Junior year at USC.
Royster didn't do much at all last year IMO. People were saying the same thing last year with Morris.
At most positions, particularly in the past couple years at WR, I've thought that the emphasis on 'competition' where they brought in as many bodies as they could find was a waste of valuable reps, especially for younger guys we needed to focus on developing. However given Shannys history at finding RB's I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. And it's like you said, a lot of us, myself included, were saying similar stuff about Morris last year. Personally I like Jamison - Rutgers more then Thompson - FSU. Ironcially I think any RB that gets drafted by Shanahan is in a great situation. They either make the team and get a chance to become the next over-achiever or if they get cut you have other teams more willing to look at them because, well basically Shanny saw something in them. I think virtually every ex-Shanahan running back that didn't retire right away got a second chance elsewhere after leaving the Broncos or Redskins. I mean does anyone think Keiland Williams would have gotten a chance to play for the Lions if he hadn't been a Shanahan RB? |

Edit: Egg on face. Rewatched the video again. Realized he didn't throw the bottle at the woman. Not his finest hour and certainly not acceptable but a world of difference between throwing glass at someones face and spilling a beer on them. Welcome back Fred Davis to Dirtabag's approved Redskins. Get well soon dude. lol. |
I'd personally love that. Ever since seeing that video of him in the bar I've really soured on him.
I realize not everyones a choir boy/boy scout/saint/etc going out to do meals on wheels delivery and reading to the blind when they're not practicing or watching film, but inflicting physical, unprovoked harm against women, especially in a case where there was clearly no need for self-defense, is just unacceptable.
It'll just be a business decision. Changed post in quote. For some reason thought bottle was thrown and hit the woman in the face. The only thing Fred Davis is really guilty of is being an insecure moron. However I would hope that if he had thrown the bottle at the womans face the team wouldn't have brought him back. I think at the very least the NFL needs to start handing out bans for proven physical violence against women because personally I don't trust a lot of teams to draw the line. Still I judged to quickly. I don't have to change my opinion that Fred Davis is essentially a moron but he's not a women beater. |

What debate? Your opinion vs. Shanahan's regarding drafting RB's? LOL |
Re: Draft talk rounds 4-7
2 Darren Spoles type running backs drafted in the late rounds. I knew AJ Smith would have a noticeable impact in this draft.
Just for those that don't know - these running backs are going to be more than backups to Alfred Morris. These are change of pace backs that give the Redskins offense also another layer with swing passes, receptions from another position, offensive speed, and potential playmakers . Again ala Darren Sproles. |
Re: Draft talk rounds 4-7
I'm shocked Tyler Bray went undrafted. I think his upside is pretty high.
I really like the Jawan Jamison pick a lot too. |

I agree with that Rambo was a steal. Why did he slide so far? I thought he was projected as a 4th rounder. |

He was suspended twice for 2 failed drug tests at UGA. Hopefully he can put that behind him. |

Does this count as a first or second strike in the NFL? |

In the NFL, a 1st drug offense I think is 4 games. |
Re: Draft talk rounds 4-7
Like how some pieces fell to us that could have easily been seen as picks by the team 1-3 rounds earlier. Now really excited to see some of these guys during the OTA's and camp.

For recreational drugs a second failed test is four games and a third is a year. The first requires you to enter the leagues substance abuse program if I remember correctly. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that's how "party" drugs are handled. |
