Would we have any consistency (like the damn Cowboys) through the draft?

Can our FO switch out personnel effectively in two years?
Agreed. Say what you want about Jerry, but he stuck with Garrett far longer than his fanbase (our ours) would have. They've known exactly how to draft every year, starting with that O-line.

When Dallas eventually makes their inevitable playoff tumble, their squad is still set up for success (even if they let Garrett go at some point).

I think Jerry has a lot of good people that do enough to keep him from f*cking things up. Like when they stop him from getting Johnny Jackass during the draft.

Too bad Bruce Allen doesn't have anyone preventing him from making dumb mistakes.

Re: The everything Gruden thread

I was totally on the Gruden bandwagon for a long time, but I'm extremely discouraged with this team right now. We were absolutely not ready to play today. It wasn't a thing of talent or lack of depth, we just weren't ready to play. And it seems like there's no discipline on this team at all... penalties, dumb plays, and a seeming lack of effort for much of the season.

Gruden needs at least one more year, because this is a loser organization and he's working with losers, but I'm not nearly as hopeful about the future now as I was 2 months ago. I voted "2" on the poll.

Re: The everything Gruden thread

Both teams are not going to the playoffs. But just watching the game today, you could just tell which team wanted to be out there, you could tell which team was really playing hard, and which one was just going through the motions.

Also, Phillip Thomas is just terrible.

Love to hear this, especially under the circumstances we are operating.
Totes meaningless. Players said same about Shanahan while here, and that story changed the minute he left the building. It will be the same with Gruden.

Do you have a connection with the team? Where does your info come from? I appreciate your input, but at least....on the surface, I would value CC's opinion on the issue over yours.

Voted 2, have no real confidence in Gruden. Matter of fact he has pretty much failed at this point. His job was to make Griffin a better QB which for whatever reason did not work out. The franchise is total wasteland, calling it a dumpster fire, does not capture the magnitude of how bad it is, this is more on the scale of a Chernobyl/Fukushima. What a friggin disaster.

That press conference was pure trash, Gruden looks in so over his head it is not even funny. It looked like he was reading off a piece of paper or notes...wouldn't surprise if Danny was too cheap to buy a teleprompter.

No no nothing inside I'm talking about public comments. There were players supporting Mike right up to the bitter end. Soon as he was fired players said happy to move on. Doesn't have to be same players.

Gruden is even worse than Mike, way over his head. Players can't enjoy it. Looking like clowns isn't fun.

Not at all. Players were stating their dislike for Shanahan well before he got canned. I will say I agree with you that you will hear players state their disdain for Gruden. Nobody will ever please everyone

At this point no up and coming coaching candidate or GM is going to want to come here. Why do you think Zorn got the gig? Nobody wanted to come here. It'll be the same story when Grudens fired (whether its this year orwhenever).

The only coaches we'll get is guys who nobody else wanted or who obviously aren't HC material. Mainly Snyder will want to hire puppets. Some poor SOB who wants to be a coach so badly he'll go with whatever the big wig wants even if he knows better until he gets sacked and we go through the whole thing again.

Go ahead and change your nMe to Debbie Downer. There would have been a ton of coaches who would have taken over Gibbs team. Double G was the maiden in waiting but they effed that up. There would have been others too. And there'll be good candidates after Gruden too.

Reid took over a ton of talent Pioli drafted/signed. He would be huge upgrade over what we have, but we also need the coaching upgrade. It's all doable.

IMO We don't want Pioli. There are many stories of his paranoia and weird behavior in KC, such as bugging the offices of others, etc. Maybe none of the stories are true but perhaps where there is smoke...

Re: The everything Gruden thread
Since our team has been so good and winning consistently before Gruden arrived, clearly Gruden is the problem.
Snyder and the FO has done an exceptional job in getting us such incredible talent in the last 14-15 years Snyder has owned the team and they have never broken rules or been penalized. So it is not them. Consistently a playoff team during the 14 years.
Plus add the the fact the RGIII has never had a problem with other coaches in his 3 years in the NFL. There was a love affair with the last coaching staff. RGIII's play on the field that last two years has been incredible MVP like and he is an Iron Man when it comes to injuries. He is very humble and welcomes criticism, very evident in the post game press conference where he has never blamed his teammates. He works so hard that his footwork and technique is Hall of Fame level. Top notch!
So clearly Gruden who has been here 8 month (?) is the problem.........
Plus there are so many excellent coaches that are dieing to come work here. They'll just show up with a magic playbook, call the right plays and we will win again.
LMAO! Thats the best answer ever for the RG3 Gruden debate.

I thought so, too. The person they really gave the finger to was Snyder, who pushed for the trade. Hopefully Dan will learn from his humiliation.

MTK 12-07-2014 09:37 PM

Re: The everything Gruden thread

If you're not winning games might as well take pride in "winning" a trade I guess. Though I'm not sure how a trade can be won if it's not resulting in wins on the field.

Sounds like it's a beef between Allen and Fisher to be specific.

Lotus 12-07-2014 09:39 PM

Re: The everything Gruden thread

Well, fine. Let Allen learn from his humiliation not to allow such trades to happen.

Way better? Do you remember the mid 90s at all? We've been a consistent loser since Gibbs 1.0.

Man, I've been a Redskins fan forever and never missed a play. Watched the whole game again today, but if something doesn't change soon and the Redskins I fell in love with don't come back. I don't know how much more of this I can take, because this is not a Redskins football team. This is a joke.

You don't stick with a failing investment, you dump it and cut your losses.

We aren't going to see any return on Gruden, next season we'll be in a similar position and people such as yourself will be saying we need to give him another season.
