Please pick Rueben Foster. Watch this and tell me you disagree: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1mXBHGBLKE
The guys he hits tend to go the opposite direction they were going. Dude is a hitter.
I love his highlights, and if some other players weren't there I would not hesitate to get him at 17 (although he may fall farther after the drug test), but I honestly like Reddick better. Foster's hits won't be as impactful in the NFL and his focus on the big hit leads to whiffs, broken tackles, etc. and he has a history of stingers and a shoulder surgery as a result. I'd be worried that he won't hold up to that abuse against NFL players. |

how many of us want to trade down from 17?

I'd be OK with Foster, but Cooley's film breakdown today said he was like Perry Riley - but could cover. That'd be a talented upgrade for us, but still wouldn't be Luke Kuechly. Could consider Haasan Reddick if he's available. Highlight films are misleading, because they only show the good plays. Here's a film breakdown from a random internet guy.. It's not ESPN worthy but points out a consistent hesitation / difficulty Reuben has quickly reading plays.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36tvS8N8i_Y |
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
What was Cooley looking at? Perry Riley? LOL. Now I don't watch film but the Bama games I saw Foster was running sideline to sideline, blowing people up, making plays and was active. He can clearly run where Riley could not. He's way more explosive and Riley really wasn't. Riley was a slow, non covering ILB that could just play in a small area. Riley was a fish out of water in space.
As far as his test, it was diluted. I'd still draft him in a freakin' heartbeat. I don't want choir boys, I want a mean SOB that wakes up in a bad mood on Sunday. |

I am with you on that. At least for depth, if not a starter opposite Josh. I still want us to take Peppers at 17 and keep him at SS. There will never be another Sean Taylor, but he might be close enough for me. I would even consider another FS in the lower rounds, just in case the Cravens experiment at S doesn't work out as expected. If we were crazy and did trade Kirk, I would get Peppers and the CB from Ohio St. Killer combo for a draft. I do want us to keep Kirk though, so that is just my wishes if the unthinkable occurred. Thrusday will be fun!!!!!!!! |

Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
How many of you will watch all of the first round? I haven't been following the mock drafts as much as i normally do. I will watch about the first 10 picks and then come back for our pick. After our pick, i will come here for the instant feed back. I think i prefer having the draft on Saturday and Sunday instead of prime time.

I watch the entire first round because I am addicted to the draft. BTW, I saw a mock draft where Jonathan Allen fell to us at #17. If that were to happen, how long would it take for the Skins to turn in that card? |

I watch all of it but casually. I am only concerned with the Skins and Lions, as well as their divisional opponents to a lesser degree. I will keep the TV on and come in for the important picks.

I have Friday off and will be making a big pot of Chili on Thursday night.
My wife has grown used to watching the first round with me. I usually watch the entire 2nd and 3rd rounds too. |
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
Per Ian Rapoport@RapSheet: 5 days pre-draft, #Florida DT prospect Caleb Brantley was charged in a 4/13 incident with misdemeanor assault, knocking a woman's tooth out

First & foremost, this is disgusting. Second, it is stupid as hell. I no longer want this guy on my favorite team & I really don't care if he ever plays in the NFL. Screw him. These dudes need to get their testosterone (or whatever else they may be ingesting) under control. |

Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
I simply would not draft guys like Brantley or Mixon. I'm fine if guys get in trouble maybe with weed or a DUI. It's obviously stupid but young guys are going to screw up like a lot of us did when we were that age. But the one thing I can not accept is beating up women. If a women is pissing you off just walk away or dump them. In the Mixon video the girl and her friend walked away and went into a bar or restaurant and Mixon followed them in there. Why?? That shows me he has no restraint or discipline. How are these guys going to act once they have cash? Both are undraftable.

I want Hassan Reddick the most right now. Him and Kerrigan on 3rd down would be nice. We could then bump Preston to the line in 3rd down/nickel situations. |

anyone get down w any of the draft guides/magazines? this year i got lindy's, athlon sports, pro football weekly, and nolan nawrocki's should be in my mailbox today.

They'll take him whether he can stay out of jail or not. Maybe they'll give him a babysitter like they did with that useless receiver they have that can't hold on to the ball. |

I agree. In fact I think Preston Smith would be better on the line. |

Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
With the likelihood that a number of highly-rated players will fall in the draft due to their poor character, the door is now wide open for Danny and Smithers to orchestrate an all-POS draft.
Round 1 - Dalvin Cook Round 2 - Gareon Conley Round 3 - Caleb Brantley etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc. |
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
I usually watch the entire 2nd and 3rd rounds too.
The first round has become an event; a show for TV. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds are where the bread is buttered. It is what builds depth and, when lucky, can yield a bonafide starter/star. Those rounds are just more intriguing to me now because of all the pomp & circumstance associated with round 1. The "other" rounds are where great football teams are built. Just my opinion. HTTR |

Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
From NFL Network -
UCLA linebacker Takkarist McKinley is another prospect who has drawn medical concerns from teams ahead of the draft. He underwent shoulder surgery following the NFL Scouting Combine to repair a torn labrum and fix a glenoid fracture. Teams have different evaluations on McKinley -- some believe he has a chance to be ready for the season, but according to many, the belief is he'll start the year on non-football injury (NFI) list and have to miss six games as a result |
