Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Read that article and somewhat agree... the draft will tell a lot

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
I think this time period before the draft is where the skins will be hurt the most in free agency. There are some quality player depth players available on the market. Zach Brown, John Sullivan, Chris Long, Glenn Dorsey would all be some good depth vets to sign on vet min contracts. Hankins needs to come off his price.

Zach Brown would be worth more than vet min, wouldn't he? Still young, and 2nd tackler in the league last year... Envoyé de mon TOMMY en utilisant Tapatalk |

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
No, not depth players but starters. We needed four starters minimum in FA and to re-sign some of our own. We got two of the four we needed - Pryor and Swearinger. We did not get the NT we need and we did not get the upgrade at ILB we need.
The money was there to be had if we had cut a couple more over-the-hill players and, of course, signed Kirk long-term so we could manipulate his cap number. But, naturally, we f***ed that up big time. What we needed most was defensive help up the middle. I believe that we could have signed Bennie Logan and Zach Brown to go with Swearingen if we had had gone hard after them from the beginning. Unlike others, I think Bennie Logan would have been worth the deal he got to us. We needed someone like Pryor to replace one of the two WR's we lost. The other one will be replaced internally. Then we would have been freed up to draft the true BPA throughout the draft. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
We can get two starters out of the draft. We may have one in Spaight. Plus Daniels is also coming back off injury. I would not sign Brown.

No thank you to Spaight and Daniels. They are slow defenders who can't cover. We need speed at LB. |

For what reasons? Do you think he'd be too expensive or do you not like his level of play? Others? |

I cannot stress this enough, we need a great fuckin draft this year. Not an ok one, not decent...we need a great draft. 2-3 starters is a great draft. Who in the fuck is running the draft? Bruce doesn't watch tape and we have no gm. Jay is a head coach.. that means, he should not be running it. Scott Campbell is my hope, but who really knows at this point. I hope McC's ability to scout talent rubbed off on Campbell. From what I've seen in free agency, we still got a lot of work to do. Pass rusher, dline, corner, ilb...we must add additional bodies there. On Offense: WR, RB and interior online are all must adds. Long way to go...adding a gm might be a good idea. Probably need to get on that soon, especially since the move to Fire McC has been in the works since before the combine. Probably should have had a plan to replace him. Looks like that's too much to ask. |

Jay Doug Williams and Bruce will oversee the draft based on what the scouts did throughout the year. With ten picks they have plenty of opportunities to do good things. Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
When you have 10 draft picks the amount of players you sign in free agency is going to be reduced. Ideally, everyone you draft actually makes the team, or at minimum the practice squad. I don't really think we need to sign anyone else. We might, but it's not a necessity. I'm going to be optimistic about this draft and getting Docton back. We have a good draft we're better than we were last year when we missed playoffs by 1 game.

There have been a crap ton of articles stating that they continue to follow McCloughan's board. It's his board, with Jay and Doug interviewing the players at the combine to assess heart/character. If that's how the board is set, what does it matter who runs the draft room? |

There were plenty of Pro Days after the combine too. |

I am hoping that we end up using some of the lower picks to effectively move around during the draft. |
it's not unheard of for dbs to have successful careers into their late 30's. i know he's had significant injuries the past couple years, but he's 33.
here's to giving him the benefit of the doubt!
Waste of roster space at this point. The Skins visited with CBs from Michigan and Florida St. I say take at least one of them, if not both. What we have back there sans Norman are bums or youngsters that are still developing. Breeland isn't a bum yet, as I hope he gets his mojo back from 2015. If not he is a bum in my book. Also, I will not be at all surprised to see us draft a SS, which means Cravens gets to ride the pine. You want a safety, draft a safety, not some half assed dual role player. Cravens probably won't last past his rookie contract as a Skin. I hope I am wrong, but I wouldn't bet on that at this point. |

When Spaight got his chance last year it looked like the game was just too fast for him. IDK if it was that he was just slow and couldn't run, or that he was mentally lost. Don't know much about Daniels other then he made a lot of tackles in college. |

I love how we're all like yeah great signing! Ty was an exclusive rights free agent. We tendered him on February 28th, which restricted him from negotiating with anybody else.
He's been a Redskin since the moment we tendered him on Feb 28th. But go Bruce, yay! |

Confirmed by Mike Jones
Per @MikeJonesWaPo: Redskins are indeed hosting Tim Hightower for a free agent visit, source confirms. Played here in 2011. Injury cut his time here short. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
I really like Hightower, but this isn't the Hightower I was hoping for.
Adding Hightower to the RB corp wouldn't really move the needle for me. "just a guy" type signing. Hopefully we are seriously looking in the draft for a difference maker. |

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Hightower had 32 first downs rushing last year..... how many did the Redskins have ?
He would be a nice addition, maybe 3rd and two would no longer be a passing down. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Good competition to push Matt Jones.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
The putdowns of Hightower are unwarranted, IMO. He is a good all-around back as a secondary option. He has averaged 4.0 per carry throughout his career, he's not a fumbler, and he won't cost much. If you're looking for a primary back, then draft one. Hightower won't get in the way of doing that.

I've got no problem with giving TH a look, he's been very productive the last two years.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Now that SM is gone, I don't see Jones on the team next year and I say with 100% confidence, 1 of our 10 picks will be a rb.
I still want to see what Keith Marshall can do too. |
