Yeah ... I dont think that correlates though. McVay has Wade Phillips as his D Coord and a GM in Les Snead who spent 14 years as a pro scout and 2 years as director of player personnel and now has been the GM for the Rams the last 7 years. The same Rams GM that pulled off the RG3 trade with us in his first year. Could OConnell be as good as McVay? Sure Here, with Bruce/Snyder picking the players and coaching staff? Hell no. So does Jay Gruden have a coaching tree now with McVay and OConnell as disciples? The only thing jay does well is passing scheme and the only thing McVay and OConnell do is passing scheme ... |

Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
McVay is a great coach, taking a team to the SB is a big achievement.
If you believe O'Connell has full OC responsibilities then he needs some blame for this shit show and might not be the talent most people think he is. If you believe Jay has full control over the passing game while Callahan controls the running game then O'Connell isn't a real OC and is not ready for HC. I'm OK with going with O'Connell as interim HC but at the end of the year, Snyder needs to clean house or nothing will change. |
I really believe Jay came into this season looking to get fired and expecting it, he joked way too much about it in the Pre season. When we go down to NE sunday by 30+ I just don't see anyway Dan keeps him Monday.

If his offense shows improvement and some degree of success, then you can consider him your HC next season. If it doesn't, you can move on from him. Your interim HC this year is going to be doing a lot of damage control and dealing with a lot of crap from a lost season. Callahan can do this as a former coach. No reason to put KOC there yet. And you leave yourself options by doing this. |

Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
I don't want KO as the head coach. He'll just be a puppet for Dan and Bruce. An in house hire is not what we need. It's the type of hire Bruce will want cause KO isn't a threat to him. We need to first hire a GM and then let him hire his own coach.
As far as McVay goes, people need to realize he could not have walked into a better situation. He had a solid GM, QB, RB and some nice pieces on defense. The Rams job was a better than most jobs a first year coach gets. Now the entire NFL has a hard on for McVay and whomever talked with the guy gets a job. Btw, no disrespect to him cause he's a solid ass coach who knows his X's and O's. |

Honestly I would prefer fan seat winners being called down to round out the coaching staff. People might start showing uop to the games if they think they can be calling in plays. Totally worth it and can't get much worse right? |

Maybe this is a way for us to fire him and not have to pay his remaining salary? |

It’s beyond Petty for Snyder and Allen to try to publicly smear Jay on his way out. They gave Trent Williams the biggest OL contract in the history of the NFL after he was suspended for weed.... but they’re going to try and use the same thing to screw Jay out of the rest of his contract - after he was a good soldier and put up with their shit for years? I said it a few minutes ago and I’ll say it again - Why on earth would anyone come here when the team is showing time and again that this is how it treats people? Why would anyone come here when they know this Is exactly what Dan and Bruce will do to them when they’ve decided they want to move on? Seriously - fuck this team as long as Snyder and Allen are in charge. A company which treats its employees this way is not worthy of our time, our money, or our passion. I wanna think whoever filmed those videos released it because they either got paid or said Jay Gruden doesn't give a fuck because he's about to be fired. So I'm not entirely sure we can put this on Bruce and Dan.
But we can put running an incompetent organization on Bruce and Dan, and I'm fine with that. Fuck 'em. |

Gruden already confirmed he is the one calling the plays. https://www.hogshaven.com/2019/10/3/20897450/jay-gruden-redskins-presser-im-getting-closer-on-a-qb-decision The offense is all on him. He is both the HC and OC. If he was a good HC he would fire himself as OC. Hopefully its Black Monday at Redskins Park. |

BA is listed as the Redskins Team President but is also acting as the GM. The first thing that needs to happen for the Redskins culture to change is for him to be fired. I suggested Kyle Smith because he’s the head of the scouting department and already in the Redskins organization. Smith has done a very good job with the team’s draft the last couple years. It is important to get someone competent into the GM job IMMEDIATELY because the team needs to trade guys like TW and others for DRAFT PICKS before the Oct 25 trading shutdown. Gruden needs also to be replaced immediately. He’s not only coaching poorly but he’s making stupid decisions in order to get fired. If you move O’Connell into the HC position we actually can see how he does calling plays - since Gruden is doing it now instead of his OC. IDEALLY, you’d want the GM to make the HC decision, but there just isn’t time. Gruden and Manusky need to be fired ASAP. Why the rush? Because the team needs to trade away as many older or expensive FA players like TW, Norman, Richardson and yes even Scherff to get as many draft picks for 2020 as they can. The offensive and defensive schemes need to be immediately improved so the new GM can evaluate players for their ability. Right now the offensive and defensive coaching (under Gruden and Manusky) is so bad, every player looks terrible. Haskins and other rookies need to be played to get experience and to test their ability. Without getting a new GM, HC, DC right away you can’t fix the system enough to evaluate what they have or start the rebuilding process. Hire Smith, O’Connell and a DC for this season only. See how they do with this season and then get into the post Season for the long-term contracts. Only by Snyder giving full power to the GM can they get an elite prospect. Snyder’s reputation is justifiably terrible. Maybe Smith is the best the team can get for this season and as a long-term replacement. Same with the HC position. O’Connell May be all the team can get because of the team’s horrible reputation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not sure if anyone has posted this article. But given the consensus that Gruden is gone and the not so coincidental release of the Gruden videos, maybe time to look at HC candidates? The dysfunctional Allen/Snyder way.

Bruce isn't going anywhere guys until he is ready to leave on his own terms. I know we all hate it but us talking and talking about Bruce leaving here isn't doing anything except making us more upset. I would be happy to eat crow on that but Bruce could probably go 0-16 this year and next year and he would still be going nowhere.

Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
Any chance the Redskins themselves leaked that video so they can fire Gruden and not pay the rest of his contract due to some personal conduct clause?
Why anyone who isn't desperate for a job would work for this organization is beyond me. Look at what they did to Scot McCloughan. Any other organization would say they had a mutual parting of the ways and leave it at that, even if the guy was guzzling whiskey at his desk all day. |
