30 years ago Italian americans would never be allowed to join white supremacy groups because they weren't anglo enough. Now they are a large component. A nationality does not equal race.

I am all for harsher punishments but in the end that merely focuses on the end result. Punishments have never equalled the deterrent that politicians think it does and we need to focus on prevention as well which is far less expensive than clean up. Further more it is funny how we only focus on punishment for certain aspects of illegal weapons. I never hear politicians or gun advocates clamoring for law abiding citizens that are careless with their gun ownership with facing prison sentences. My brother has had three guns (at different times) stolen from his car. He lives in a state that does not require gun owners to report stolen guns. One was used in a crime. He should have jail time IMO.

First if anyone tells you that piece meal gun legislation works they are lying or delusional. The scientific research shows the only thing that works is at the country level not the local level but we are never going to have that in this country.

I am not sure why you think a person going to jail for a crime they commited will stop them from committing said crime. Are you actually suggesting we should preemptively incarcerate people to prevent a crime from happening?

My point on my brother is that if he was proactive illegal guns would have been reduced on the street. I would prefer to prevent them from getting on the street in the first place instead of waiting for someone to be shot and then attempting to find a killer after the fact.

In the end this is what we are left with. Highest levels of incarceration of any developed country and more crime. We are doing something wrong and there are multiple steps needed to solve this problem.

Why are libs intent on making crime safer for criminals? It’s absurd

If you want to prevent them getting in the streets then you specifically need to address the people and their culture which believes shooting each other is an acceptable way to act.

Instead of attacking a very large majority of responsible owners, focus on the problem.

As an example, a week ago in Richmond…2 kids shot each other at George Wyeth HS in Richmond. Parking lot. That night School Board president gets there and gives an angry speech. I watched a local news report about it after your IP. Not sure if the victim had any known gang ties but the attackers did.

I give props to PG county DA for doing more than a slap on the wrist. Even if it turns to a plea to provide evidence on older gang members telling youth they are going to be tried as adults for heinous crimes is correct IMO.

MCKEE, Ky. (AP) — A 7-year-old child fatally shot a 5-year-old child inside a home in eastern Kentucky, police said.

An initial investigation found that the shooting reported Monday evening at the home in McKee was accidental, Kentucky State Police said in a statement.

Life-saving measures were attempted, but the child was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County coroner, police said. An investigation continues, said police, who did not identify those involved.

There have been more than 150 unintentional shootings by children in the U.S. so far this year, including three others in Kentucky, resulting in at least 58 deaths and 101 injuries, according to the Everytown for Gun Safety advocacy group.

[B]Kentucky does not have any laws that impose a penalty on those that fail to secure an unattended firearm, according to Giffords Law Center[/B]. However, the state prohibits anyone from “intentionally, knowingly or recklessly” providing a handgun to a minor unless the minor has legal permission to possess a handgun.


Pretty sure the NRA and chico see no problem with this .

Yes and Yes. Although we know rich and powerful people never receive jail time. They have to do something so far beyond heinous for us to send them to jail.
