Re: Presidential Race 2024
I know I lean lefter than most but I don't see the labeling of Harris as a progressive. The only time in her career she aligned herself with the left was her 2020 campaign. As a DA and Attorney general she said she would advocate for democracy but always ended up with more moderate and mainstream views. Jailing drug users, during the banking crisis supported banking industry and not home owners the list goes on. These were all things widely supported by mainstream politicians and not the left. After her 2020 campaign she aligned herself with Biden's moderate view and neither has really pushed for democracy for the US citizenship.
She was ranked as the most liberal/left Senator in the Senate Even more left than Sanders. Yes, she is a progressive and is seen that way by most. |
Re: Presidential Race 2024
That is based on cosponsoring bipartisan bills. Is that really the greatest indicator of progressiveness? You are taking a three decade career minimizing it to a 3.5 year segment in which she has espoused progressive views never really did much with them and then gave them up and gone back to being very moderate over the last four years in the administration she is serving.
We have a saying a cat can have kittens in the oven doesn't mean we call them biscuits. She isn't a biscuit. |

Re: Presidential Race 2024
I see why Trump wanted to face Biden so bad. He is getting fucking slaughtered by Kamala at this debate.
The key parts that Kamala killed on: 1) the rally bit 2) 200 Republicans that support her, including a former GOP VP and some of his former staff 3) The criminal indictments Lord she played that shit masterfully. |

Not surprising since he's 78. She's completely full of shit, but she definitely won the debate. Note - David Muir might as well be announced as a Kamala employee. This debate was much much worse than the Trump/Biden debate in terms of the moderators. |

Agree, what I want to know where are all the people who were bitching about Biden and being old? Trump is as bad or worse. Harris made him look like shit.
What is sad this might not affect the "Electoral College" meaning trump can lose the popular vote(which he has) and still win. |

I more so blame his supporters for enabling his behavior. There is no line he can cross to them and that is just so dangerous. Politicians are politicians and they will always pander for votes. There is a reason Kevin McCarthy went from saying "I'm done with this guy" on January 7th to being his biggest ass kissers . The really frustrating thing with GOP leadership right now is the crazy push for bat shit crazy conspiracy theories. There are real problems with immigration that it would be great to have discussions about and try to resolve real problems: Why are small towns facing the economic burden without help from the federal and state governments, American workers having a economic value and being able to command higher wages but corporations cutting them off for basically free labor they can pay below minimum wage, I could go on and on. Instead we get Haitians eating dogs as the primary issue.
When you take serious issues and make it a farce people have trouble trusting you. |

I can pull up examples of Repubicans switching positons all morning long, it was hardly only the 3 I had mentioned. Most of the entire Republicans Party has lined up behind Trump when we know damned well that many don't really support him and do not believe the election was stolen as I had pointed out but you ignored. We know they were saying things far different as they huddled in fear on January 6th. We know this, some we have actually heard. Yet all these Republicans went completely against their beliefs or changed their positions. For political gain. This has been done by both parties throughout history. It's just that simple. |

Well, he could have held his breath because the replies came in thick and fast. The post now has more than 17,000 comments and they are almost all women sharing their stories of being turned away from emergency rooms in agony, bleeding out in parking lots, at home, in public bathrooms, and sometimes for months afterward. I'm still trying to wrap my arms around the claim that Kamala Harris is an outlier for changing positons when I have witnessed basically the entire Republican Party line up behind Trump when we know damned well many do not believe his lies and do not actually support him.
They have sold their soul and reputation, I'm pretty convinced that history will be very unkind to Trump and his enablers, but yeah let's destroy Kamala Harris for her position on fracking. |

Trump has called Nebraska officials in an attempt to get their system changed to winner take all which would obviously add to Trump's totals. If they are successul Kamala may need to win another swing state. If this passes the Dems will take it to court where a Trump packed Supreme Court will rule in his favor and Democracy dies.
There is no line the GOP won't cross to make sure their Dear Leader will regain power. I am so disgusted with that party. |

Trump, 78, brought up the 39th president of the U.S. while speaking at a manufacturing facility in Waunakee, Wis., on Tuesday, Oct. 1, according to PBS. After calling President Joe Biden the worst president in U.S. history, Trump told the crowd, “Jimmy Carter is the happiest man because Jimmy Carter is considered a brilliant president by comparison,” according to The Daily Beast and USA Today. Trump's comment about the Carter legacy was made as other Republican leaders put aside partisanship to honor the longest-living president's centennial birthday, which came more than 19 months after he entered hospice care in February 2023. |
