Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
I will say I feel fine about him and it will work out, i think the only failure this year is if we miss the playoffs.
I posted that kind of tongue in cheek it just makes me laugh in the NFL how they like to build you up but love to tear you down. that Pitt loss really burns in my mind that was a winnable game. Philly game was more like yourself after a fun night of partying (Pitt game) and trying to to get through the work day with a massive hangover. the timing of the Philly game couldn't have been worst. Loss the Dallas game then you can start running around like a chicken with his head cut off. |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
The thing is this, JD5 was going to struggle at some point, he’s a rookie. Injury or not, there is a learning curve
He has played just too damn well out the gate. Keep the faith folks. His poise and calm demeanor will help him thru rough patches, that’s where these intangibles come into play. The thing analytics know nothing about and are just as important in this league |

This combined with the fact that he hasn't been quite as good since the injury and he's a rookie are the main reasons he hasn't been quite as effective. Still think the kid will be great long term. I wouldn't be surprised if we see normal, incredible Jayden Sunday. Let's go Commanders! |

JD5 went from league MVP to struggling now to win ROY How the might have fallen.[/quote] The rib injury has slowed him down a bit......there's still room for him to finish strong. |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Don’t care about OROY - wins are all that matter. Would like to see him play well of course, but if we win and he’s playing well but not spectacularly, that’s ok by me.

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
I'm wondering what DQ, KK, Pritchard and Blough are saying to JD to get him in the right headspace? Not that they should all be bombarding him with advice (and over coaching him), but they should have the experience between them to get him back to the confidence level he started out with. Injury free, its got to be his head that's causing bad decisions etc., right?

It's difficult to figure out the culprits of the decline in offense performance with no insights into the offense meetings. There are a few possible factors: the rib injury, Kliff not calling right plays at right time, there are more tapes on JD which allows defenses to better understand his strengths/weaknesses, no consistent from BRob due to injuries, and/or simply luck falling into opponents' side. |

Didn't he pick up the pace dramatically in the 4th Qtr vs Dallas? He threw an 86 yard TD pass that could have been the winning score for us if DQ had been paying proper attention to his kicker's problems and gone for a 2 pt conversion. In short, I think he'll be fine from now on if he stays healthy. I'm more worried about KK and DQ getting their shit together than I am about JD5. I thought that both of them had very poor games against Dallas. IMO, their lack of awareness and aggressiveness were palpable. STs were terrible, too. |

I think JD5 is back on track to get back to where he was, it might just not be until after the bye week. |

Some of this is just common sense, any decent DC will make scheme adjustments in the offseason when he knows who he'll be facing next season. But I think the biggest factor in the offensive struggles has been pass pro, or rather scheming up/play calling to help it. Drops and fumbles haven't helped, but too many 3rd and long situations have relied on JD hanging in the pocket too long, dumping off or trying to force balls. I haven't seen every play from Sunday, but from what I saw the Cowboys were targeting getting us into those downs, then sending more than could be blocked and nowhere for him to scramble. Where were the crossing routes that may not pick up 1st down but had a chance? Designed rollouts to give him options to run? Feels like play calling has gotten a bit conservative, presumably to protect him. Is it me or do we need to get back to plays that allowed him to ad lib and use his athleticism to open up opportunities? |

A lot of it will depend on his play down the stretch. If he regains his earlier season form and gets us into the playoffs think he's got a good shot. I'd love to see him win it.

For the record RG3 won ROY and Chase won RDY ; we all know how they panned out, maybe its best JD5 skips that award |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
micah Parsons has the best take on jD .. IF our COACHES will let him play and trust him He can be great!! That Dallas game was on the coach , lots of bad decisions starting with not putting kicker on IR before the game and not having Chris on the damn roster to be ready for a gimpy BRob ..plus not going after another WR at trade deadline , we went after Lattimore and he ain't played a down .. the coaches got to get it going .

for the record there is a weird thing where if they have brought Chris up so many times they have to sign him and cut someone i am not sure the details, Keim explained it but it wasn't black and white just pull him up Latttimore was a front office decision and one that surpasses this season but i agree its been frustrating not seeing him not sure who they could have got at WR that made an impact without giving up the house, at the time our WRs were doing just fine the past three weeks they have become the drop brothers |

The Lattiomore trade was exactly the move this team needed the most. Nobody can control when a soft tissue heals but he could make a big difference. That was the bold move, any other bold moves for an impact WR would have costs more draft capital and this organization is planning on building through the draft which is always the right way to go. But I do agree that last game was on the coaches. I was so frustrated at the conservative gameplan which did nothing to capitalize on the field position the offense had for most of the first half. They throw it down the field and go up 17-0 and the Boys would have packed it in. |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
i guess i need to also remember how all the Top draft picks under Ron were huge Fails that set this team back in so many ways ...can you imagine under Peters what our roster would look like ..

My personal scouting report from witnessing him live from the lower bowl yesterday - kid looked back to normal and I look forward to seeing what he does after our sorely needed bye week.

I've been all aboard the Jayden Daniels Hype-Train for quite a while. After watching the 49ers offense, I need a bigger Daniels train.

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
After the wife goes to bed if there are no games of interest on I simply watch a Commanders game I still have on my DVR. As I watched them again I am amazed at Jayden't ability to pick his way through traffic and into the end zone, reminds me of the way Priest Holmes used to do it. I am so freaking excited that we finally have our guy, the sky is the limit as far as the future of this franchise goes.
My 2 favorite plays remain the deep ball against Cleveland to Terry where he avoided an unblocked rusher and threw a dime on the run and the pass over the middle to McCaffery where he was his third option and he just whipped it on him in a split second. |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Daniels took too many unnecessary sacks today.....he has to learn to throw the ball away.
|
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
I think we forget at times he's still a rookie.

i think he was trying to at times put the O on his back, there was a lot parts missing on O last Sunday He is not Sam, he gets the ball out fast but WR and TE are not getting open he has to extend the play The all 22 will tell the true story |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
I also think we have confirmation of what a badass Biadiaz actually is. Very much helps our QB.

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Him holding onto the ball hopefully is a one time thing....we didn't see this in any of the games before this.....if there's no receivers open he needs to scoot out of there and get as many yards as he can....

he takes some BS sacks too where he runs out of bounds a yard or two short of the sticks . . . he needs to throw those away and save the yard or two, but are they really sacks? |

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
JD has won nine Rookie of the Week awards so far this year. He's tied with Ben Roethlisberger who had nine in 2004, and JD has three games left to play. It's so nice to have an answer at that position, and a really good one at that!

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
The kid reads defenses like Jurgensen and runs like Joey T.
