Re: Goodbye Doughty, Hello Horton!
Well good, let's hope Doughty blows out his knee so Horton can play, or maybe he can singlehandedly causes our team to lose a game so he can be benched.
:frusty:
Hope he blows out his knee? Are you kidding me? Eagles fans come up with s**t like this about their own. Didn't think we'd sink to that level. |

Sarcasm Bubba.

Re: Goodbye Doughty, Hello Horton!
Well according to ESPN:
"The Cardinals tied the score again on the game's first offensive play of more than 20 yards. Fitzgerald, who last week had a 75-yard touchdown reception, sped past Reed Doughty and LaRon Landry on a post route for a 62-yard scoring pass." But what do they know? It's all Doughty. ESPN - Arizona vs. Washington - Recap - September 21, 2008
Since when does ESPN get anything right (sorry SmootSmack)? But if you go back and watch the play we were in a two-deep scheme meaning Doughty was responsible for one half of the field and Landry the other half. Fitzgerald was on Doughty's half of the field, thus making Doughty responsible for coverage, not Landry. |
Re: Goodbye Doughty, Hello Horton!
Doughty got benched after that TD.

Re: Goodbye Doughty, Hello Horton!
Doughty needs to be benched. I said before as far as experieinc Doughty should have played but as far as athleticsm Horton should have played. Point made. When we are going against a team who is primarily a running team we should use Doughty. A team with more of a passing attack. We should use Horton because of his speed and he is better in coverage. Honestly I think Horton is good coming up for the run too. Saying that experience aint ish unless you can make plays and not be a liability. Horton should start for the rest of the season. Definitely next week.

The SS position will be the X-factor against the Cow-chicks

Well to be clear, that's an Associated Press report, not an ESPN one. So you'll see the same thing on SI.com, CBSSports.com, Yahoo Sports, FoxSports.com, etc. But I don't see where it says that anyway |
Re: Goodbye Doughty, Hello Horton!
I thought Doughty got benched after the Fitzgerald td but i was not sure.

Re: Goodbye Doughty, Hello Horton!
Finally someone agress with me on Doughty (Southpaw) The guy is weak in pass coverage. The tackles are nice but if Horton were starting he would do the same thing maybe more. Ruhskins saw "your boy" Doughty didn't play a snap after he got burned by Fitz. I think its telling me Horton might start next week.
Doughty is not my boy, I just hate when people make stupid claims and blindly hate someone. I can't wait until the likes of you goes on a barrage of hate threads against Horton once he gets burned or makes a rookie mistake (Just like the wonderful people that flooded the anti-Campbell threads after week one). But don't worry, I'll be there to defend him and post some sense just like I've done with Doughty. |
Re: Goodbye Doughty, Hello Horton!
Honestly I think it is nice we have two guys that we can use at SS that are both effective. Most teams would die for that.

I don't think you understand that Horton is a better player than Doughty period. Thats why I wouldn't get mad at Horton if he made 2,000 mistakes.

I think that's a good point that's getting lost in this silly debate. Rather than picking sides let's just be happy that we have depth at the position. Horton appears to be a promising player, but I think Doughty will still play an important role. |
Re: Goodbye Doughty, Hello Horton!
Wasn't Doughty the guy who forced that fumble on Edgerrin James? When I saw that, I thought about this thread immediately.

I had thought the same thing. BALLHAWK! ... But I believe it was McIntosh that caused that fumble. At least that's who got credit for it. |
Re: Goodbye Doughty, Hello Horton!
You are correct in regards to Doughty, but what have you seen from Horton in his first three games that makes you so sure he is not a potential pro bowler? All I've seen is Horton putting himself in position to make plays, and a natural ability to be around the ball, often.
Ok, Horton had a good game last week but saying he has a natural ability to be around the ball from that one game is a stretch. One ball was batted up and he happened to be in the area were it came down and the fumble sat on the ground waiting for anyone to hope on the ball for an easy recovery. I cannot remeber the third but I think it was an over thrown ball which hit him right in the arms. I'm not complaining he deserved all the praise but I'm not read to call him a turn over machine just yet. |
