Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
How many d linemen do we have now? 20?

Best move I've seen the Front Office pull off in years.

Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
We got a first round talent for a 5th. name one DE who is projected in that round that you would rather have. Playing for the Rams can have that affect on anyones career.

Its worth it but just seems weird STL would be willing to give that up like that. It stinks a bit on their end. I mean they are only getting 30 picks higher in the 5th. What is their incentive? Its not like he is a big salary guy right now either. |
Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
Has anyone mentioned yet that Vinny would have given a third and a fourth for Carriker.
I'm sure they must have? |

I was exadurating...then I looked... We now have 16 folks on the squad that had played Dline....some are listed as LBs, some DT, some DE, some NT....Carriker is not on the roster yet...he is #16...the funny part is if we are going to a 3-4...we only have 3 starting slots for these 16 players...of course you may play as many as 2 at LB...but come on. We have 5 slots on Oline...I like the move...I just wish we were pulling this off on the oline. The Dline was its most successful in years last year, why fix what is broken and ignore the real problem....I guess we'll know in a few days what the plan is on oline...years of redskins frustration has made me a bit synical I guess. |

He didn't fit into their plans |
Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
Things change and teams go in a different direction. What did the SKins give to get JC? And now they are ready to trade him for a pack of juicy fruit. Latest word he may be released.

And can anyone say Flozell... Plus, hopefully McNabb makes our O-line look a little better. Okung will help too. |
Did anyone out there seriously think that Shanahan was brought in here to "rebuild"?
Rebuilding doesn't exist in the NFL. That is a euphimism that teams like Buffalo and Tampa Bay use to say that they have given up and they are just going to collect TV revenue.
Looks like he has rebuilt the Redskins to me! He just skipped the 3 year plan in place of the 3 month plan. |
Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
This is a can't lose trade. I just haven't yet figured out where Carriker was in 2009? Was he injured on the PUP list of on the bench or what? I can't seem to find any facts on him after 2008 when he got injured.

Here's an example of picking up extra FA O-linemen AFTER the draft -- last year Cincinnati drafted Andre Smith at #6, and then soon released Levi Jones, their starter. Guess where he ended up as free agent? Cincinnati Bengals inform offensive tackle Levi Jones of plans to move him - ESPN Anyway to your point -- I *seriously* think we need (and should draft) an LT. I'm dreaming of Okung in a Redskins uniform. But - if Bradford slips (unlikely) -- it makes it a real hard choice for us, because McNabb is probably only here for 3-5 years, but Bradford could potentially solidify the franchise for 15-20 years. AND if we're not in the NFL basement again, it'd be hard to get a franchise QB if we're drafting in the mid-to-late 1st round. Still, if Bradford slipped to us - perhaps the BEST choice may be to trade down. And if we do skip on Okung, I would freak out. Get used to seeing McNabb scramble. |
