Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
Well I think when you look at it like that, yes we are, but we are recieving a player that the coaches want to have be a part of the team, so in that sense we are getting something in value in return making it a win win situation.
Now the only problem I have is VJ hasn't quite proven much yet other than a couple of good years. This is where I might struggle to give a guy with his history a ton of money. |
Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
Well, lets put it this way: if the WR's we had were impressive enough the coaching staff wouldn't be looking outside the team at WR's. Clearly they are not satisfied with what they see or have now.
Exactly. This is an indictment about the FO lack of faith to Vinny's picks. Clearly they don't like Kelly (not sure about Thomas), but IMO Jackson isn't gonna get any better than he was last yr and seems to value his drinks more than his team and coming to DC is trouble, so trading the world to get this guy doesn't make sense. Why waste a future starter at OL,WR, S, LB on a questionable player off-field who IMO isn't a top 10 WR? When it's all over, Moss is our #2 and T.O's our #1 WR Opening Night. |
Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
Vallin,
You think TO has been humbled enough to even think about bringing him in here?? |
Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
I could still see that happening as well Villian. I don't know if I like the idea but I do see it as a possibility.

Get him!
Vallin,

I've been saying for awhile that I think TO could still come here late. I mean he put up 829 yards in a crappy Buffalo offense last year and was much better behaved than in Philly or Dallas. If you give him an incentive based contract I have a feeling he would love nothing more than stick it to Dallas and Philly twice a year. Its not like we would be locked into a long term contract. If he does well awesome, if not we cut ties and move on. I would really like to see it happen. |
Vallin,
You think TO has been humbled enough to even think about bringing him in here??
PS I think if T.O. came to town he would be No. 1, DT No. 2, and Santana in the slot. |
Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
Vallin,
You think TO has been humbled enough to even think about bringing him in here??
I think he has. If the last 2 offseasons didn't do it I don't know what will. I didn't here of any problems w/ him in BUF. He's 37 hasn't won a SB and I think he realizes he's not the same T.O we saw 5 yrs ago but still produces. We'd have to sign him to a 1 yr deal and he knows that. More importantly having McNabb at QB as opposed to Edwards might get him motivated for 1 more "big" yr. The problem is we have the AH headache and bringing in T.O would cause a circus because he's T.O, but I think he's been humbled enough to realize it's not about him, knowing that his place in Canton could depend on him winning at least 1 SB. And yeah Tana would be in the slot, DT #2 and T.O #1 |
Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
Is there any link or has anyone else heard the rumors that McNabb is working out with Vincent Jackson in Arizona?
And if so...are there any sources that indicate that this is anything more than due diligence on the part of the Skins? |

Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
Don't alot of guys workout with McNabb in Arizona. Doesn't he work out with one of the professional training camps? They run drills and such for the guys to get into shape before TC in July. I believe there are multiple pros at his, I remember hearing alot of guys worked out with him there in the offseason, team mates or not.
I could be wrong and it may just be his personal training. |
Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
Hes gonna be suspended for like 4 games right? Hes a FA next year right? Why dont we just wait and get him next year by offering him big bucks. Would giving up a early pick for a guy that is gonna miss out on a 4th of the season make sense.
I really wanted Jared Gaither, but at the end of the day hes gonna be a FA next year. Just get him next year. This team has new coaches, a new GM a new offense and a dramatically new defense. Theres a big learning curve going on. Lets figure whats not working this year before making Vinny like decisions. |
Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
I think it may be only a 2 game suspension. Go back a couple of pages and there is an article there that speculates a 2 gamer sus. they have good points to back up the arguement that it may only be 2.
I am waivering back and fourth on the idea of bringing him to DC, and I have a feeling this won't get done. No inside info just a hunch. LOL I never have inside info! |
We could wait until next year, but: (1) If the rumors are correct, some other team may pick him up this year first. (2) There would be more teams interested next year (?) since he wouldn't be facing the 4 game suspension he is now. (3) If the CBA is renegotiated, then SD can effectively renegotiate his contract themselves. Right now they're scared of the uncertainty next year. (4) Not sure, but we may be able to give him a fat signing bonus in this uncapped year that we may not be able to later. (5) He'd be one year older @ 28yrs. (6) We're going to need him for the Super Bowl this year. [personally i say we don't go for it. i don't care about snyder's money but draft picks are invaluable to a franchise and are always undervalued]. |
