Plus he spelled personnel as personel hehehe
I also misused the word elude. Should have been allude, but who's counting. @hooskins, I don't think the words I use validate my opinion anymore than anyone elses, that's simply the way I write, and have always written since I've been on this site. But your response indicates that you understand, to some degree, what I was getting at, so why don't we talk content, instead of personal attacks and context. I mean this is a "football forum". |

That's all. All that being said, I agree with your RG3 related points (running limited option, mentality, etc.). |
Dude. Seriously? This is a football forum not a PhD program. Using a thesaurus doesn't make your points anymore valid or correct than others'.
You could just say you "think the option will be used to keep defenses honest, and using the option would suit our team's strength. Hopefully Shanny continues to employ strategies and tactics based on our personnel." Much more succinct and to the point rather than unclear jargon. Might make you seem less pretentious too.
I'm sure glad you said that. Much more clear, concise, and sufficient. |
Re: RGIII Named Starter
Quit being a lazy fan ;)
lol, you got me. (but if i'm gonna be called lazy I would like to think I'm quite thorough)
Admittedly I don't consume every media sound bite. And interviews from a unpadded rookie mini-camp wouldn't normally break my inertia because there normally fluff. But being that they mentioned option my interest is piqued being that there's a thread practically devoted to the possibility of option and more specifically zone read in this offense. (it also has other speculations about our future offense). If anyone would like to discuss the possibiliites for option football within this thread; please feel free as I get bored updating/responding to my own posts: http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/47172-new-look-offense-same-but-better-6.html#post905681 But I promise scout's honor I'll listen to the whole thing manana.:yeahright |
Re: RGIII Named Starter
IMO it seemed as though Shanny was simply saying they would look to take advantage of what RGIII brings to the field. I would not take what he said as that we Re definitely goin to use the option just that it is an option givin our qb's skill set. I tend to think we haven't seen coach make changes to our offense based on that because we have not had a qb that warranted such.
As far as the ability to read defenses that will take RGiii some time to get down and I don't think we have a qb on the roster that will be able to diagnose a defense better than RG III. I am not trying to get to excited but RG III's football IQ maybe higher than his skill set which could make for one hell of a scary player. If he stays healthy he could change the game. These next few years could be one hell of a rise for our team. |
Re: RGIII Named Starter
Mentions it around the 9 minute mark. Talks about he can run the option and how he believes only Cam and Tebow can run it well in the NFL
He does stress though that RGIII is a passer first, but with other skills

Here is one instance, u lazy fan lol Coach Shanahan at 23:55 - "...the fun part about Robert, the reason why we gave up what we gave up, is that he can do some things I believe no one has done. The dropping back, play action, quarterback keeps, option, and we'll see what he is comfortable with as time goes on..."
Thank you fellas:food-smil |

All that being said, I agree with your RG3 related points (running limited option, mentality, etc.).
If you understood fully you would have recognized that I was using certain words, not to come off as snobbish, or elitist, but to emphasise detail in my perspective without having to go into a lengthy diatribe. I was actually attemting to be more respectful of my fellow posters. Either way we haven't yet fully embarked on a 1984 scenario, so I'll use my expression however I deem fit, and this will be the last time I defend, and justify it, especially to someone who is trying to replace my thoughts, and words with his own. thanks for getting back on topic though. |

Re: RGIII Named Starter
RGIII is pretty thin. Would you take the trade-off of increased heft/durability for less mobility?

No. He's going to dominate because of his speed. (and arm...and brain...) |

He's gonna take some shots...inevitably. However, from the reel I've watched he does have strong pocket presence, which should only improve. Hopefully those shots are minimized dramatically. Oline better step up bigtime...this is where Mike needs to work his magic. |
