Re: All things offseason discussion part II
I heard peyton testified.
not sure if peyton just testified to just facts (% graham was used in WR position vs TE, official title on depth chart etc ) or opinion (graham is a TE). either way, that is a sure way to create division btw players and coaches. if peyton just testified as to facts/stats - why couldnt a custodian of records do that or someone not on the actual coaching staff? edit - seems certain precedent has been established "Burbank said he only considered those plays because evidence showed that Graham was lined up within four yards of the line on more than 50 percent of his snaps." "The evidence that appeared to weigh most heavily into Burbank's decision was that Graham was often defended as a tight end even when he lined up in the slot (i.e., by a linebacker or a strong safety)." Re: All things offseason discussion part II
From what I understand, Payton stated his opinion... that Graham isn't a WR. Which I agree with. But he's also not a TE.
I think Graham is more in the right than the Saints, because as PFT points out(I know, it's PFT, but still), the Saints' and the NFL's position would hypothetically allow teams to line up the Grahams of the league 100% of the time in the slot and still not pay them WR money. Hybrid TEs/jokers aren't TEs, nor are they WRs; designate a new position, call it a joker or whatever, and put the franchise tag number in the middle, around 9 million. Outside receivers have more market value, but Graham would also get more money in the open market than a traditional TE. Seems like the most logical solution to me. I think Graham comes across looking like an a** to a lot of people, but I don't see anything wrong with him wanting to get paid fairly for what he does. The franchise tag system being faulty isn't his fault. |
Re: All things offseason discussion part II
I don't think Graham comes across as an ass. He was trying to maximize his value. It's the 'Murican way.

Yeah can't blame him for trying. He seemed to have a case worth hearing. |

I guess your a belieber in Manziel?
YOU'RE god damn right. I know what he did on the field at aTm. Do I care who he associates with? Nah If he beats a woman, tortures dogs or pulls a Hernandez...all bets are off. |

Not only that but i happen to agree with him. Dude is a TD machine and hands down better "player" than most of the people in the league making more money than he is. |

Re: All things offseason discussion part II
Eh, Manziel is kind of a douche, but then so is RGIII if we're being honest. All the great QBs have a little bit of that. I think it just comes with the territory, and the cockiness/confidence/swagger that's needed at that position.
I think Manziel will succeed in the NFL, although Gordon getting suspended won't help. |
