Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
I'd still love to know why bringing in a new offensive coordinator who uses a different system that is so complicated that it takes at least a year to learn doesn't count as being inconsistant.

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
By the way, I never did hear that argument to bring Gibbs back for a 4th season based upon his performance over the last 3 years, but that's ok, you have your poll.
Uhhhh, he got us to the playoffs for the first time in 6 years maybe? So you'd like to back to the pre-Gibbs II era? Okay, maybe you don't have that good of a memory, but I'll let you in on a little known secret, it was even WORSE than it is right now. |

I seriously haven't looked at the record, but I bet Spurrier's record/winning percentage is equal to or higher than Gibbs, so "Secret Man" am I right? |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Gibbs is 20-24 regular season .454%
Spurrier was 12-20 .375% Wrong again Paul, sorry |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Season aint over is it Matt. WOW, I was wrong Gibbs is 8% better than Spurrier!

Still waiting for that argument Captain.

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
OH GREAT MATT, I never made an excuse for the poll results, you posted the poll and it looks like about 18% agree with me, so you are right that most redskins fans on this site agree with you. Does that make them right? No. Most voters voted Bush to a 2nd term (Im a Republican by the way, and I did too) but that doesn't make them right. So, if I represent the distinct minority, then so be it. You cannot deny that you're a blind faith follower Matt, you probably wanted Spurrier to stay on as well. STAY THE COURSE TITANIC MAN. By the way, I never did hear that argument to bring Gibbs back for a 4th season based upon his performance over the last 3 years, but that's ok, you have your poll.
Your balls comment made it seem like you were trying to trivialize the poll results, that's all. If that wasn't your intention my apologies. As far as staying the course, what's wrong with some organizational consistency. What good does changing coaches every 2-3 years do? Yeah I would have given Spurrier another season as long as there were some major changes to the coaching staff. This is your poll by the way, let's remember that. |

It worries me, but if he thinks it's best then I will trust in him to make things right. |

I've already stated my thoughts several times in this thread and others. Look it up. |

Steve Spurier was 12-20. He sucked. |

HUH.... You wanted Gibbs to punch him in the head on Sunday. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Why are you guys splitting hairs on what and how it was said?
Point is, about 16% think Gibbs can't right the ship and the rest do. That's pretty simple. And I think it's safe say to 100% of us want the Skins to succeed no matter who is at the helm. Would I like to see Gibbs get us back to the promise land, you betcha. If it's not him, will I be disappointed, probably not. C'mon guys, let's just put this to rest. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Agreed. No more for this thread.

Thank the good lord.

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Ok you tell me, what exactly have the coaches in NO, NY, and SF done that's so great?
As for talent I disagree. Spurrier left this team in shambles. When Gibbs arrived there were 2 legitimate NFL players on this team - Coles and Bailey - and both wanted out.
um, New Orleans is 8-4 (w/ more than 50% turnover from the previous year). Jets are 7-5 with less talent than us and a new coach (maybe stability is overrated. maybe we should look for competency). SF is 5-7 after getting rid of 2 of their "best" players Lloyd and Carter, and a serious lack of talent... Are you BLIND or just DUMB?! |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
apparently someone didn't get the memo

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Man this thead is still active?
Once again for the love of God: Gibbs isn't going anywhere Just get over it already. People have been (excuse my french) bitching about this since the Redskins started sucking this season. Lets see the whiners get in there and do a better job. Once you do, I'll agree Gibbs needs to take his walking papers. God, its like if you don't get to the playoffs every year then something must be wrong with: The front office, the coaches, the players, God himself. And that means we should fire everyone and start all over again because there are SO many better coaches out there besides Joe Gibbs, right? The players on the otherhand, I could see some cuts and some new faces, but what happened to the whole, "stick with what you know" approach? Just because you go to the playoffs one year, doesn't mean that all of a sudden, you're supposed the new Colts and everything is just supposed to gel. And you're supposed to go 16-0 and beat on everyone in your division and go to the Superbowl. Especially when half of last year's squad is gone! Granted, everyone had high hopes considering the new faces and high played players brought in here, and I believe everyones disappointed, but disappointed enough to wanna fire a Hall of Fame coach? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. I hate it as much as everyone does when the Skins look like a bunch of pop warner football players running around like chickens with their heads cut off but damned if the so called "diehard" fans aren't the first to jump off the bandwagon when things go sour. People are just like sheep. Poor helpless sheep that need to be put down. :Smoker:
Dexter Manley could do a better job of coaching this team! |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
you are so cool
i don't think you understand how to be a "diehard" fan. having blind faith in your team doesn't equate to being a die hard fan. cheering them when they are 4-8 doesn't equate to being a die hard fan. demanding playoff appearances (more than 2 per 14 years), accountability, and being realistic is being a much better fan than you so-called "die-hard" fans. i should know. i am right here in the heart of "steeler-country". trust me, they could have jesus himself running the team. if they are 4-8, they are calling for his head! |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
why is it that alot of us have resorted to name calling if another redskins fan disagrees with what we are saying? is this how losers act? all of us here want the skins to succeed, and there are reasons none of us are running the team. lets leave the football to football people
|

im not sure what to think about this statement? |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Im not jumping off this bandwagon...Joe Gibbs is an excellent coach....3 rings with 3 different QB's....and Im gonna say this a grip load of times, Joe Gibbs didn't just come to the skins and we started winning, He had like 3 losing seasons! JUST GIVE HIM A BREAK OK!?...Steve Spurrier couldn't do much a better job...we were on the verge of finishing 2-14 under him.....
i hate to break it to you, but steve spurrier went 7-9 and 5-11 with MUCH MUCH MUCH less talent... |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
im not sure what to think about this statement?
Don't even bother. Hey mason, we all agreed to disagree and let this thread die, your cooperation would be greatly appreciated. |
Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Blind faith is a redundant phrase. All faith is blind, considering faith is based on the beliefs of things unseen. With a man who has been more than successful coaching in this league and has championships to prove it, and can go to another sport and put together a championship team there as well, it's really not so strange why people would be patient with Gibbs. Oh, and don't give me the same tired "the game has changed since he coached in the 80's"....nothing has dramatically changed so much that a coaching mind like Joe Gibbs can't adjust to. If anything that has changed is been the attitudes of the players. It's became too much of a "me" type of game...nobody has loyality or patience to stick it out with one team anymore. In my opinion, it is tougher for guys like Gibbs to coach up good teams....NOT because of the game, but because of the players.
if you don't think the game has changed at all since the '80's, then you must be blind yourself! |
