Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
I definitely agree with you, 53Fan; the relationship between Zorn and Redskins FO definitely have been damaged beyond repairable.. As much I like Zorn but they both need to go separate after this season..
|
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
I was all for bringing Zorn back but with the lack of support from the FO and the "public castration" he's gone through, I think the damage that's been done is probably irreversible. At least within this organization. I would let him go right after the season ends and announce the new coach. Fair..unfair...whatever, it's time to move on.
Well after that fake fg try last game i don't want him back i forgave enough for that hook & lateral in the Detroit game & decline the penalty also. He was just asking for it then |
I see so you would like to have 2 Chris Cooley jerseys, a Redskins grill, 5 hats, 2 wrist bands, a cheerleading calender, a hoodie, 2 leather caps, and a foam finger shipped to you in late April or early May?
Ya know what that sounds even better. ;) Thanks. Cause depending on whether they pick up players of a needed position or simply pick up 3 more receivers, a LB, and 2 CB's might make up my mind. :) No don't be rediculous. I was just saying that for the last 2 yrs I have been on my own (small) boycott of Redskins gear. Now with Vinny being gone (supposedly) I actually have more hope that this team will be handled more professionally. But having gone to the store many times over 2 yrs looking at Skins gear and forcing myself not to purchase I find myself still reserved. Just wondering if anyone else is feeling the same way. Clearly your not. Chalk one up for the "No" side. Look I'm starting out like the Skins....0-1. :) |

Yeah that was straight Zorn trying to screw us on Monday night, and did just that. After they knew we were faking it was stupid to not just bring out the offense and go for it. I liked Zorn up until then he's still getting 2 million dollars to do his job, I say ship him and his hip hip hooray ass back to Seattle.. |

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
Poor Zorn, I truly feel bad for him, but he gave Snyder the ultimate F you in front of a national audience... maybe for the way he has been treated this year!

He proved why he was NEVER a head coaching candidate. Snyder's implicated for aiding and abetting and known idiot. |
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
When Danny Boy fires Zorn, he needs to be the one doing it. Allen can be there, but this is Danny's mess. Then Danny needs to admit that he has made mistakes and that he is responsible for the mess he has made of the Redskins. The team he loves, but the one he has dragged down to the pits since day one of his regime.
After that Danny Boy may start to reedem himself in front of his fans and future coaches and players. We got Zorn because no one else wants to coach the skins and deal with Danny Boy. He has to change his image by doing things right. |

i really don't get this whole thing on why people think zorn called that play in order to give snyder an FU. too me that would just be stupid on zorns part.zorn needs to show that he is capable of leading a team and has the ability to be a head coach in this league if he ever wants to be a head coach again. zorn had a trick play before half time in the first game against ny, this was nothing more than another attempt to get back in the game by trying to fool the g-men once again. this attempt just failed miserably. |

I don't think he did. I think he was told it was his gig again so Allen could make his own decision and be able to say he gave him the last few games to show what he could do with the team. I think Zorn just likes to incorporate 1 or 2 trick plays in a game and he likes to try some of the old school stuff that nobody has seen since forever. I'm not making excuses for Zorn. The game plan, plays, and timing of those plays screamed Zorn. It did not look anything like Sherm Lewis. It looked like we time traveled back to prior to our break and Zorn in control of everything. Which is why I believe Allen may have given control back to Zorn in order to say he evaluated Zorn on last yrs performance, this yrs performance prior to the break, and the last 4 games and decided Zorn was not getting it done in order to cut him. |
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
Sherm was still up in the booth so unless he was sitting there doing nothing I doubt Zorn was calling the plays again. Plus anytime they showed Zorn you didn't see him calling plays.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
Here's the scoop from SS who texted me:
-Shanahan was not in DC today -Terms of a deal have been in place for a while now, the holdup was he didn't want Vinny in a decision making role, he doesn't want to take over during the season, and he wants to wait until after the Texans season is over to bring his son Kyle with him. -He's also waiting to see what will happen with Dallas, but his focus has shifted to the Skins now. -Skins are also interested in bringing in Doug Williams but it probably wouldn't happen until March, if it does at all. DW might not be as interested as the Skins though, thinks he may have more upside with Tampa.
thanks for the update and thanks to SS too. merry christmas to all .. |

maybe sherm was nervous,lol. he had allen standing right behind him the whole game. |

In that situation I think Lewis isn't involved. That had the makings of a Danny Smith call that Zorn gave the go-ahead to. Smith reportedly has a reputation for drawing up insane plays at practice. Regardless, it's a moment that we won't soon forget as Redskins fans...unfortunately. |

Whatever, I am just ready for this season to end

He must be worried about the media perception of the move. He must not want to take another round of in season criticism. |
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
Firing a coach during the season doesn't accomplish much. Snyder isn't dumb, he doesn't want two coaches fired mid-season on his resume. He probably wouldn't have fired Norv if he could do it over again.
|
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
Dont forget, Bruce Allen is supposed to do the firing now.

Bruce Allen will have alot of firings and hirings to do over the next month. |
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
we already look like a joke. firing Zorn now would just add to it. whats another 7 days. another off season filled with hope. what sucks is lately the off season is the only thing we have to look forward to.
|
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
Firing now, is not the same as when Turner was fired. That team still had some level of legitimacy. At this point, Zorn is gone, and keeping him in does nothing to establish Snyder as a patient owner, because everyone knows that the Rooney Rule has been met. And again 0-6 in the division, losing to Detroit, and a list of other grievances give Snyder or Allen lots of leeway in letting him go.
|
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
If Zorn was going to be fired during the season it should have been done weeks ago. Firing him now would be ridiculous.
|
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
the biggest change i want from this franchise is a culture change and the way they do buisness period.
enough is enough.. |
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
I'm happy Zorn hasn't been fired, what would that accomplish other than give some small measure of satisfaction to the fans. Why not be professional, finish out the season, and then fire him like other, better GMs would do? You think Bill Polian would fire Caldwell after a 4-11 season with one game to go? Nope and that is a GM you want to emulate

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
I wonder if John Fox gets fired, could we lure him to be the DC for Shanny?
|

i wouldn't mind that. but im sure he has his own guys ready to rock

~~~~ The Panthers have turned it around the last part of the season and the win yesterday in The Meadowlands definitely showed that Fox deserves another year in Carolina. |
Same goes for DelRio in Jax. They do just enough to survive. |
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
I like Del Rio, but he needs to get the boot from Jacksonville. They have too much talent for them to be always around .500. Norv eventually got the boot for the same stuff.
