Good for him. Hope it's not with us. I think he wants to get paid. |

For one thing, he is a human being. Of course he wants the most money for his work. That does not make him greedy. It makes him stupid to sign a contract for a team that went 2-14 the previous season for a lowball amount because of some misplaced sense of loyalty to a team that isnt even being "loyal" to the qb that turned the franchise from a cellar dwellar into a contender for the super bowl each and every year. In short, just cause he wants to see if he can get more money or get into a different situation doesn't make him greedy. |
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
I would take a look at Castillo if he's released, I've always liked him, a high motor type player.

Peyton Manning wouldn't be any better than the second best QB in that division totally healthy, and in a physically limited state, he's not even as good as Carson Palmer.
You're saying a "totally healthy Peyton Manning < Philip Rivers?" And you're not just saying, you state it as if it's an undeniable fact. I'd be very curious to see how many gm's around the league, given the choice only between Rivers, Tebow, Palmer and Manning, would choose anyone besides #18. I watched Philip Rivers this year and he was just not the same player as he has been in years past. I could see if your case was "over the next 5 years..." but you're saying that TODAY, Rivers is better than Manning at 100%. I know you do the analysis... but no way can I buy into that. |

But if you go far enough into the past, then yeah, Manning over everyone else in the game makes sense to me. He might have been the greatest to ever play in his prime.

why do you think he's better than Carriker and Carriker had 5.5 sacks last year...not bad for a 3-4 End. |

I like Castillo but he is 28 and recovering from a broken leg. |

You are right, Carriker did play good last year. But let's compare both careers stats; Castillo: 210 tackles and 19 sacks, Carriker: 124 tackles and 9 sacks. Carriker is only one year younger. But Lotus did bring up good point, I forgot about the fact that Castillo broke his leg last season. I would not be upset if we resign Carriker instead, I'm just saying that I think we should check out Castillo and see if it might work out for both. |

Which, I mean, someone needs to tackle the quarterback, or you don't get the sack, but whoever would have been playing LDE instead of Carriker would have had the same opportunity.

Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
Actually, on second thought, what if Tebow loses the starting job in preseason? That would make the lulz factor in the NFL's regular season kickoff go exponentially high.
Great, we get a dose of Tebowmania right from the get go
I assume the NFL network with have at least one cameraman fixed on Tebow at all times as he warms the bench for whomever the broncos opening day starter is. |

wow, kinda disappointed. The Tebow story is great, but to kick off the season? lotta eye-rolling by fans today hearing this news. Super disappointed they didnt pick the Green Bay game to start the season. |
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
Tebow may not be the starter come the season. He's had no guarantee's........

Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
Whoooops!
I got schedules mixed up as I was talking to a former colleague about the MNF schedule plans Anyhow, it's not the Broncos vs. Giants. Giants' opponent has yet to be determined but it will 100% not be the Broncos as they don't even play each other next year |
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
I'm guessing Giants - Packers or Giants - 49ers
|
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
or the Saints
|
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
49ers are an option as they're no longer really a "lock" for the Monday Night opener
|

Monday night opener? It's being considered |
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
Monday night opener? It's being considered
I was actually considering the Wed. Night game as the opener. Since the Giants are schedule to play that opening night game, I would find it a real ratings grabber to have the two brothers play head to head to open the 2012 season. Although the networks may want to save those two games for later in the year as the opening night game will always get ratings. Needless to say a Manning vs Manning game will have the networks clammering to get those games. |

Cardinals vs. Saints Hall of Fame Game
|
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
Why would the Saints want to play in the HOF game?
I guess I should preface that by asking if the Saints were the team that requested to play during that game (which I believe they were). |
