I actually could see the Rams just keeping the pick only if we don't cave in.. Cleveland says they wont but then again they are even more desperate
If we do sign Manning why draft Weeden? So Manning can play 3 years and Weeden can be essentially a 31 year old rookie? Yeah I'll pass on Weeden there.

BTW if we sign Manning do you all think we will win the Super Bowl in year one or two? If not, why sign him? C'mon Free Agency.
A. I agree on the weeden scenario.

B. Why Manning? Because even if we dont win a SB w him I'd still rather be 9-7 or 10-6 for 3 years than 5-11 or 6-10. For me its PM or RG3 thats it.

I'd agree to a point with you on QB options. Basically, I just want us to improve so that Shanahan and Allen can build the team the right way. I just don't want us to tank another year, have Shanahan and Allen canned and begin again. There are plenty of teams who can be in the mid to later rounds of the first that can choose a QB of the future. We don't have to constantly suck and pick in the top five for that.

I know it seems like some here think RG3 is a sure bet but I'm telling u history has shown one of these 2 won't be a true franchise qb

Sure, and we've all been stung before by this, but sometimes you never know if you don't try. I'm willing to try, just as much as I'm willing to give PM 2-3 years while keeping all our draft picks and continuing to build the team.

That was a very different beast. Draft picks weren't nearly as valued as FA and even with FA in 2004, we definitely missed on quite a few of them. Don't get me wrong, I'd love either RGIII or PM, but I'd be just as happy keeping our picks and continuing to build the franchise with younger, better players. No one is going to confuse Mark Brunell with Peyton Manning.

Not only that, if we're as shitty as some people think we'd be with Peyton, we'll stilll have a chance at a top QB AND still have the picks to make the trade if need be.

I want RGIII or Peyton, but I'm happy with either.

I think we saw the value of PM has on a team from watching the Colts last season. That same Colts team last year is a playoff team if Peyton woulda played.

Who's to say that there will be a top QB available or WORTH taking down the road? Not every draft has multiple, or even one single, franchise viable QB prospect. That is a bigger risk then "rolling the dice" on RG3. You can evaluate RG3's ability to be a franchise QB better than a sophomore or freshman QB in college currently playing.

GTripp0012 03-04-2012 09:52 PM

Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)

I think the Redskins have a much wider range of viable options at quarterback than just RGIII or Peyton Manning. Though you'd have to search hard to find the guy that believes one or the other wouldn't work here. I believe each will come with unintended consequences, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. Just always be prepared to deal with unforseen complications.

I think that is hard to state with great certainty. They have a lot of issues that were not addressed and had a lot of injuries. Peyton Manning may be a field commander, but he's not an Alaskan medicine man with healing powers.

Yeah, well I dont know how much more faith I have in the Shannys with finding those others QB and rather just go with the guys who seem to have the most talent. McNabb and Rex/Becks choices were just awful.

There's not much history that shows any person or team can consistently find diamonds in the rough at the QB position. Packers maybe? The Shannys are no different than most personnel guys in the league. They're all grasping to some extent. Hell, Bill Walsh swore Gino Carmazzi was going to carry on the Montana/Young torch for the 49ers.

But I agree that chances are good that some team will hit on a QB taken after Luck and RGIII. My guess is it will be a team already somewhat set at QB that is not drafting out of desperation like the Skins. Their rookie QB will be able to sit and learn and won't be thrown into the fire like Luck and RGIII.

One thing I like to point out about RGIII is his ability to move in the pocket. Part of me thinks that the comparisons to Vick may have been off. Yes they have similar measureables but the playing style is completely different. Heck with the way I've seen Griffin move around the pocket he reminds me more of Rodgers then anyone else.

Personally I'm just facisinated by his pocket presence. The way he moves and eludes the rush while keeping his eyes down field is exactly the type of thing a team that struggles to put lines together needs.

I mean watch how often defenders close in on him and how well he moves to not only get away from them but set up the deep throws.
[YT]lOKtMHJ6hIs[/YT]

Now compare that to Cousins and Weeden.
[YT]owBOdv4BITA[/YT][YT]aUbkSR4wtWI[/YT]
Weeden who admitingly does a nice job against the rush but he's able to avoid sacks because of his quick release while going for the shorter quicker routes. RG3 on the other hand is eluding the rush, giving his guys time to get downfield, and then completing 20+ yard passes.

Everything I've heard about Tannehill suggest he's either going in the top 10 or the second round. There doesn't seem to be much of a middle ground in terms of projecting where he'll go.
