Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I posted earlier that the redskins need to throw money at Vincent Jackson and acquire him. This isn't as Cerrato-like as most would think. My reasoning behind this is - Jackson is by far the best free agent wr. And the redskins need to be aggressive with at least one free agent at a position of need for the next 3 seasons because this would more than make up the price of attaining RGIII.
Vincent Jackson would be acquired in place of the traded 2012 2nd round pick. Also this would give RGIII an athletic playmaker to throw to. |
Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Well, since you were so epically wrong on a trade for the second pick & the level of interest in RGIII, I'm not sure I can trust anything you say anymore.
I am soooo confused. What happened SS? I ... I ... I used to rely on you, now [SMH], I just can't. I just can't. The world has stopped making sense.
Really the only person you should ever listen to us CultBrennan... How would you feel about Tracy Porter? |
Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
... then all other possible free agents this offseason should only be acquired with a decent contract.

Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
SS, have you heard of any rumors on who might replace Landry in the likely event that he doesn't get re-signed?

How would you feel about Tracy Porter?
For real, he was money for the past two seasons when he was rooting for us to lose so we can get Luck (I kid of course). So Tracy Porter eh? Are we interested in him? And was he involved in any of the bounties? |

Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Tracy Porter is the poster child for toast, he's way over rated. He got lucky in the SB and that is all, I don't know if you guys remember a game a few years ago against the redskins where he was repeatedly burnt.

Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Speaking of CBs, Aaron Ross will be a FA. Are the Giants going to have any corners left other than Prince A.?
And a video of BA's interview with some reporters.... The Redskins Blog | Bruce Allen On Trade, Team’s Free Agents |

I remember that. I've seen him play well, too. Porter is inconsistent. |

He was a rookie and it was early in the season. Rookie secondary players are usually a liability on the field; Amukamara was too. |

We already have Hall for that, we don't need another inconsistent CB. |

Yeah, I agree. I live in Saintsland so I've seen a lot of Porter and haven't much liked what I've seen. I suppose he wouldn't be too bad as purely a nickle back, though. |
Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I was just asking out of curiosity re: Porter.

So we are trying to sign Fred to a long term deal? Good news

Fred Davis and Chris Cooley will be RG3's best friend next year.

How would you feel about Tracy Porter?
Haha I feel your sarcasm. Remember when I broke the news of my neighbor who works for the skins telling me that we are going to draft RG3, I haven't seen him in the past couple days, I'm going to ask him now about getting Carr, since he's become my very reliable source. |

I can see them going for 50 receptions and 700 yards each. |

No joke. Either Davis or Cooley should make a good fantasy pickup. |

Also excited about Hankerson. Is it football season yet?

Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
im hoping we can find an agreement with Fletch and LaRon. Sure London's age is a problem but hell hold up a couple more years. Even if his level of play drops a notch in a year that's still solid because he played elite this past season.
But on another note.. We should seriously consider Carl Nicks. Dudes a wall. Protect RG3. |

Not a low ball, just what's fair and what he deserves. As far as LaRon, I think you might want to say your goodbyes. Nicks was on their list, but he wants too much $$$ so he isn't coming. |

I presume they are thinking, after tagging him that they could save more money now by getting him to agree to a cheaper contract so the saved money could be used on another FA? Because it really doesn't make sense to tag someone then try to come to an agreement prior to FA opening up. They could have used the TAG on someone else. Fletcher maybe, or just not used it at all. |

They have until July 15th to work out a long term deal if they wish. Using a tag can buy a team more time to work out a deal. It's not uncommon to use it that way. |
And Gaffney will change his number.
I thought Austin was going to be a good one. Sigh.
Gaffney might not be willing to give it up so easily, I guess he's worn that # since high school. Though I'm sure he has a price. |

Nicks, Jackson, Wallace. Call it a day.

Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I like the fact that Courtland Finnegan will hit people. I think we need agressive DB's on this team. I'll would sign Finnegan in FA and take FS Markelle Martin, who is also a hitter, in the third round of the draft.
We don't need players like D. Hall. He avoids tackles better than Barry Sanders. He is such a finesse player (that is a euphemism for a word that ends in "ussy") that he makes me sick. I would sign Finnegan and then trade Hall for a ham sandwich. |

Then it will be interesting to see how the numbers shake out. Maybe for an unforeseen reason Griffin won't mind a fresh start with a new number. Or maybe, as you say, Gaffney will get significantly richer. |
Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Jimmy Clausen didn't give up #2 to Cam Newton so he just took #1 funny cause he's the number 1 QB and Clausen is number 2

Good for Clausen though, why would he just hand his job over? He's a competitor. As for Gaffney.. If he wants to replicate last year, he'll most definitely give up his number. |
