Looks like people crushing the Jets at the Senior Bowl: "One topic kept coming up in talks with people around the league: Mark Sanchez's contract. As in, how could Mike Tannenbaum do it, and guarantee his salary for 2013? Tannenbaum's inability to explain away that contract -- as a salary-cap guy -- might keep him out of the league this year and for years to come." "Gang Green seemed to be on everyone's mind in Mobile, though it wasn't (just) Tim Tebow this time. Everyone's wondering the same question: How did a dynamic, forward-moving team that reached the AFC title game two years in a row turn into such a mess? It was not missed in league circles, for instance, that David Caldwell chose the Jacksonville Jaguars -- straight up -- over the Jets when offered the chance to serve as GM of either." |

Re: Around the NFL: Conference Championships Edition
The replacement refs weren't that bad, compared to the "regular refs". Until the NFL hires and trains professional refs (not the part timers they've always used), way too many bad calls most games are going to be exposed by the networks 100 on-field cameras and HD TV.

Yes, because for example replacement refs didn't make bad calls at the Panthers game and get into a shouting match with D. Hall during the Steelers game.
If those had been replacement refs, the officiating would have been called what it was. Pathetic. |
Re: Around the NFL: Conference Championships Edition
The replacement refs were a joke and couldn't control a game, remember the Rams game? Or how about the Packers/Seahawks debacle? I mean come on its not even worth comparing. The regular refs are far from perfect but they are far superior to the replacements.

Not that I could do any better myself. But for as much money as we devote to the game, including the costs paid to televise in ever greater detail at every angle possible in high def, why can't the NFL afford to pay refs like professionals?
edit: What gets me about the Packer/Seahawk game: it was the missed offensive pass interference, not the possession rule that everybody focused on, that was the wrong decision, right? |
