The replacement refs weren't that bad, compared to the "regular refs". Until the NFL hires and trains professional refs (not the part timers they've always used), way too many bad calls most games are going to be exposed by the networks 100 on-field cameras and HD TV.

But for as much money as we devote to the game, including the costs paid to televise in ever greater detail at every angle possible in high def, why can't the NFL afford to pay refs like professionals?
