Yeah I think Monte/DRC could...but it would be bad. |
When I look at the Roster I see some big needs:
1. Pass Rusher 2. Free Safety 3. Quality starting boundary WR opposite Richardson 4. Left Guard 5. Blocking TE 6. Young QB Because off our poor free agency period, Bruce has put us in a bad position to have to plug holes in this draft. We must use the first 4 picks to get players who start or contribute right away.
The team in my opinion got weaker in free agency not better, especially considering a lot of the acquired players will be cut and turn into cap hits. Allen is nothing but a steaming pile of crap. |

Allen is nothing but a steaming pile of crap.
I disagree completely. I think free agency was a net gain for us. Of players projected to be starters, we lost a good-but-not-great OLB and an injury-prone receiver. For both of those players, we already have replacements on the roster drafted in previous years. We added a low-end starting QB and an elite safety. And we also essentially added an elite ILB with the news foster would not be suspended. Additionally, its not like the draft will be it for us. We are generally active in the next waves of free agency: the post-draft and post-june 1 cuts. I would not be surprised if get a really good starter who is a surprise cut by his team. I'm not saying we have had a stellar offseason by any means, but I think our overall roster is already better than we were when the season ended. |

WR sucks, TE is not much better. The Defense is much better than the O right now. |

There is still plenty of work to be done. I'm just disagreeing with the assertion that our team got worse over the course of free agency. We may have gotten slightly worse at a couple positions, but we got gotten significantly better at others. |

My final projection for next week.
15th Pick - Hollywood Brown 46th Pick - Josh Rosen Time to build this offense |
Re: Redskins Mock Draft
Let's not forget that, while it isn't free agency, we ought to get a number of guys back healthy who were out last year, and so that will be an influx of some talent (with Guice being exhibit A). Obviously, this all matters if they can stay healthy and we don't have other bad injuries (which happen every year to everyone), but getting back guys we expect to start like Guice, Quinn, Richardson, Scherff, Dunbar, Reed and other potential contributors like, Robert Davis, Apke, Cam Sims, and Geron Christian will help a lot. We had 24 guys on IR last year, or something like that. Some are healthy (and have signed elsewhere too), but we'll get some talent back.
All is not lost in April. |
Re: Redskins Mock Draft
Some of the guys we're getting back will just end up getting hurt again.

15th Pick - Hollywood Brown 46th Pick - Josh Rosen Time to build this offense
These would be two solid ways to spend on the first 2 draft pics.....but if the Redskins acquire Rosen in a trade I have a feeling that Allen will do something very stupid......like send next year's 1st or 2nd rounder to Arizona.... |

Yup....and the cycle of players getting injured could continue......I think one of the reasons this keeps happening is the practices under Gruden are light and soft and once they get to game speed on Sunday the team is under prepared because of the fierce pace out on the gridiron..... |

Is there anything tangible to support your opinion? Signing and retaining players with injury histories probably correlates more with predicting future injuries than anything that happens in practice. Consistent with your theory, Jay should have been harder in practice on players like Reed, Moses, Lavau, Richardson, Nicholson despite their history of missing time due to injury? |
Re: Redskins Mock Draft
Whomever we draft I really hope they start looking at a players injury history. We just have too many guys that can't stay healthy. What good is a stud player if he's always in the damn cold tub?
|
Re: Redskins Mock Draft
The Redskins might have fewer injuries if the refs would call some penalties on the opposing team every now and then.

15th Pick - Hollywood Brown 46th Pick - Josh Rosen Time to build this offense
Yeah, Brown is just what we need: a very small WR who'll be broken in half before the season is half over. No more way undersized players, like the 170 lb. Paul Richardson, please. He wouldn't happen to be a Sooner would he? |

Exactly, I'm not just saying it because of the OU connection, the kid is a true difference maker. |
Re: Redskins Mock Draft
The Redskins had the 2nd most Pre Draft QB visits (9) and the most WR visits (15)
Doug and Company are attacking our 2 biggest needs just like they did last yr with DT and RB. |
Re: Redskins Mock Draft
IMO wr's can be found in the mid rounds. No need to draft one in the first two rounds. W/ the first two picks.... Please draft a LB that can rush the passer, or a ILB that can make plays so I don't have to look at Mason Foster anymore, or a TE that can actually move a NFL LB off his spot, or LG and make Gruden cry. The first two picks need to be day one starters!!!
I think the Mizzo QB will be gone so wait until the 3rd round and get a QB. Rypien or Grier should be there. |

Excluding Derrius Guice the Redskins haven't had an impactful 2nd round pick since Trent Murphy in 2014.....this upcoming draft is loaded with 1st round talent at every position projected to go in the 2nd round.

I dread the Skins' typical second round pick. That's where they take the guy who "would have been a first rounder" if he hadn't been seriously injured for most of his college career. Pure stupidity over and over again. The Skins' typical fourth round pick is nearly as bad. That's the round when they reach for the developmental player they could have had later. |

Can’t say that Derrius Guice has had any impact either. As of now, he is another 2nd round non/under achiever. He can fix that this season, and we all hope he does. But so far he is a member of the Redskins’ 2nd round bust list. |

The reason I excluded Guice is because he hasn't played in a regular season game yet....but Preston Smith, Sua Cravens, and Ryan Anderson were/have been average to below average. |

Idk, I reserve the bust status for someone hyped up to excel who didn't because of attitude/work reasons. Like Doctson, who just doesn't seem to have the drive to be great. When a player suffers a freak injury in their first game and is lost for the season, it doesn't make him a bust. If it keeps happening he might be injury-prone, but that's still not a bust. We've seen how hard he works and by all accounts he seems to be a good teammate. Aka = not a bust. |
