I like most of our moves as well except for Barber, although I'm concerned about our CB situation now, I would feel better if we sign Logan Ryan. Also, I'm actually glad we were outbid by Cowboys for Cooper.
While this might seem like a bad start for Redskins, I'm happy with Riveria and FO's strategies so far. It's obviously they are not doing everything they can to get into SB this year. This strategy have always failed us for years, and it's beyond time for Redskins to go on a long-term strategy. Now, Redskins are going on this path which means we all need to temper our expectations for this year. I can see Redskins getting into playoffs this year but I think some things will need to fall together for that to happen.
I'm with you. Except Barber I like our FA so far. TE is my only real "scare", I think we can find a stop gap LT (resign Penn), and I could see us survive with our young CBs (Fuller and Moreau outside... or maybe Moreland who was impressive at times has a great camp and wins the outside job... but if you can security, Prince Amukamara and Darby are still available and shouldn't cost that much, Breeland too but I think he'll get a legit contract). What I like is that I don't think this year's FA had real undisputed exciting talent, and unless you're seriously contending for something big, I don't think reaching (in term of cap sending) for need feeling not-elite talent in FA is the way to go. |

Let’s give him a chance, I still say our best TE will be a draft pick. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
If we're not at least looking at Logan Ryan and Damarious Randall I'd be surprised. Immediately round out the defensive backfield and wouldn't be budget busting pick ups. Then we can draft O. Aside from Chase Young of course 😁

Either one would be a big help. We have the cap space and the cash money so it might be time to spend some of it. WTH, sign them both! |

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
Did anyone see the TE Logan Thomas contract Keim posted? They signed him for a purpose...2 year deal...looks like a guy they like as depth but contributes on special teams and packages. Not JAG with cap hits of 2.5 and 3.5.
I def think they identified some depth guys they liked and signed as targets in free agency knowing health has been an issue with this squad. Also another guy, JD McKissic RB he can play. He’s not here to take up a roster spot, I think they are gonna pencil him in as the 3rd down back and packages such as hurry-up and 4 wide, 1 RB |

I do like his athleticism but I'm not sure if it will enough to elevate his skills on the field. I have no doubt McKissic will be a nice weapon for Redskins. |

I’d rather see us land Ryan than Randall and the pivot to other needs, like OL in particular. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
Listening to Keim podcast with Cooley and a they briefly talked about Logan Thomas. Cooley said he had watched a decent amount of Thomas...nothing special at all, just a guy. Maybe a 2 TE. Plays stiffer than you would expect he should.
Paid a nobody and will likely get nothing... |

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
Depth is nice. Actual starters with talent would be even better. Right now I think that the offensive line they have assembled will allowed Haskins to get killed.

The interior of the line is solid, LT is definitely a concern and Moses needs to get his shit together. Our backup depth is solid, let’s see what this FA swing tackles can do, maybe one can unseat Moses. We’ll definitely draft a T and TE which are our current weaknesses. |

It’s really weird to me we have gone out of our way to get RBs and I hear we are researching RBs in the draft as well... So who are gonna block for these guys? Why the fuck don’t get a run blocking TE? |

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
Picking through discarded garbage, maybe hoping to polish it up, seems to be a theme here. Darby fuckin sucks.
|
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
I don't dislike it I just think depth. I still hope we're after Ryan too.
|
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
He's only 26, not much difference between him an Ryan "when healthy"...maybe he'll stay healthy and surprise.
|
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
Go Noles! Still want Breeland.
|
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
Like the Darby signing. Kid is very fast and was highly regarded coming out. Reasonably young also. Pretty safe pickup at this point at a position of need.

For the price pretty decent and last year he was pretty bad, prior seasons he was solid. I like the bounce back potential. He needed a change of scenery. If Fabian can step up and play like he did down the stretch...Fab and Darby outside, fuller locking down slot...i like the potential |

Nice signing IMO. Proven vet on the cheap, if one of our young guys proves ready to start outside you don't need to resign him, if he's your starting CB maybe you pay him (but not sure that's the plan). |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
Darby has track star speed. If this guy can stay healthy and is coached well, the sky is the limit. Like all these 1 year prove it deals a lot the team is dishing out. Wonder what's up with Breeland and why he isn't being courted? The Skins signing Darby today was a pleasant surprise this afternoon.
HTTR! |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
Darby "use to have track like speed". He hasn't been great in coverage ever in his career but did have tremendous make up speed at one point in his career. Injuries will be a concern with him but for the money not a bad pick up.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
As to our O line, to me we have two solid starters, Chase & Sherif. The rest is a crap shoot. Actually relying upon Moses ????? Come on. Moses is someone we should be looking to replace, not rely upon. LT is completely up in the air with not a single reliably competent option at this time. At the other guard spot at least have a couple of options, one of whom will probably prove competent. But when both of your tackle slots are as weak as ours, and there is no solid blocking tight end, you have problems both in the passing and running games.

Did you forget Wes Martin? He was solid in his rookie season and will be much better next season. I like Martin better than Flowers. |

Not expecting much from this roster for sure, OL is a huge issue.. The fact that they can't decide on TW is unreal to me.. Now there are reports that the team actually wants him back...

Darby is injury prone as hell and not even very good. Obviously a downgrade from Dunbar. I think this team is looking way into the future fir the most part and not trying to reach or break the bank. Im fine with that. Build slowly, and smartly. Do not understand this move. Build through the draft, do not take on injury prone or sub par players. Depth depth and more depth smartly through free agency. If a young healthy player we could use is there in free agency than go for it. We need corner but one who will be on the field. I feel like they just flushed a few million down the toilet just to save face in free agency. |

I think Fab and obviously Darby will be free agents in 2021. |
