Didn't see that one coming. I guess they figured they wouldn't get a chance at the QB(s) they like at #8, and didn't like the idea of moving up.

I'm not sure how much better he makes them though.

As for Washington, I was told the team wasn’t very interested in Darnold. “Not looking for a reclamation project” was direct quote from somebody in Ashburn after they signed Fitz. Now Sam gets his chance to prove he’s not broken but the Jets are. We will see.

Yeah, Darnold turns the ball over more, fumbles more, has a lower overall completion percentage, a lower career QBR, and a worse W/L record as a starter. The only argument for him is that he has potential that could not be realized under the previous Jets leadership. Apparently the new Jets regime does not see it that way, but the Panthers do.

There are good reasons not to go to HPD - parallel civil and criminal proceedings are complicated. It makes it hard to settle, you may lose control over the ability to amass evidence (a witness can plead the 5th and you get nothing in the deposition), judges can require the criminal case to go first - there are many reasons. Now, there are some advantages too, and at the end of the day not cooperating is also problematic. But affirmatively pursuing a criminal complaint definitely complicates your civil case.

You make some good points. For me though, Buzbee's whole angle is "this is not about money, it's about holding Watson accountable for his actions." Right, so usually you want someone held accountable for their actions, you go to police .

Here's their problem, Teddy Bridgewater is due to make $22.9 million this season and they only save $2.9 million in cap room if they cut him.

How can Watson expect to get away with something like this when he goes after multiple women via online? Everything we do on internet always leave digital fingerprints, no matter what.

Also, being a millionaire gives you opportunities to achieve your fantasies one way or another. Watson could have easily hired escorts to act like massage therapists working on him to satisfy himself. This method would have protected Watson's career.

There will be some times where I don't understand what individuals are thinking, and this situation is one of them, assuming it is true.

I doubt moving to another city would have made any difference to this situation. And I bet a few teams that were interested did their due diligence and uncovered at least a whiff of this coming. I doubt Houston would get offered a 6 pack for him right now.

If he's guilty I doubt his career is over. Players have come back after suspensions of similarly egregious acts. BUT it likely destroys his market value and his leadership credentials. He'd have to do a massive rebuilding of his image to overcome the bad press etc., not to mention a great deal of therapy. Not saying I like that outcome (doesn't feel like punishment), but this is the NFL.

If he's innocent he'll still have people looking at him in a new light. Either way, he needs to get this moving to a conclusion soon else he could be losing his most productive years to court cases, suspension and appeals.
