He is dumb. I heard when Kyle got him, trying to install the offense was a challenge. I don’t him him as a fit. |

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
At this point I am so shell shocked at the QB position. I just know I don't want a stop gap elderly person back out there or pretend known quantity back up QBs are starters. It is a disservice to one of our genuinely good players in Terry. WRs crave continuity and routine for success and if we are going to get him another 1 yr QB I see him going elsewhere. He deserves better.
At this point my preferred choice would be to trade for a younger consistent starter. I would prefer that to someone whose ceiling is high but floor is low. If not find the most pro ready QB in the draft. If he misses so what we were no worse off than if we roll out Mitch Trubisky or Carson Wentz. Obviously Russell would be nice but I doubt he comes here. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
None of this years scenarios are ideal. Not much we or Ron can do about it. His attempts to "Swing for the fences" have failed, in hindsight I am super happy we didn't manage to sign Amari Cooper to big guarantees, even Jerry appears to be regretting that signing now

Look at Kligsbury in AZ, guy stepped into the HC with first year Josh Rosen as QB. Rosen wasn’t a fit so he traded him for nothing and got Murray. They were 11-5 in a good division this year.
He didn't have anything to do with that. He joined AZ because they had the first pick in the draft and were going to pick Murray. He probably didn't even talk to Rosen. AZ GM Keim got lucky, he should have been fired after selecting a coach AND trading up for a QB both of whom were cut loose after just one year. He gets credit for creating a really bad team just when a top QB was available. Not justified WFT problem has been one of timing. Have never been so bad that they were in a position to draft a Joe Burrow (But o so close), have been uncertain as to their position when in hindsight they should have taken QB (Haskins) or have had a draft without any genuine franchise QBs (this year). If there were any supposed franchise QBs this year Ron would still have to sell the farm from 11th to get one, with no certainty of whether the guy will work out (see Sam Darnold). It is basically a crap shoot where you don't get rid of a a proven QB unless you already have a better replacement (see Cousins, Kirk) which is why I would be stunned if Seattle traded Wilson or GB traded Rodgers |

Mel Kiper said Willis to Washington is a perfect match… it’s so hard to tell anymore with college QBs. Most said Josh Allen would be a bust and he’s a top 5 QB now. I’m just hoping we actually hit for once.. we never do Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I still wish we could have hit on Stafford he is a very good QB if not also very flawed in many ways but a huge improvement. We were never going to compete with McVay though. Dude wants a SB then he is peacing out so he can collect 10 mill a year on MNF due is entertaining behind a mic. |

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Draft Kyle Hamilton or a QB at 11. I'm all over the map on the QBs. Right now I like Howell. By next weekend it will be someone else. Drafting QBs is such a crap shoot, so I'll be OK with no matter who they pick, because I have no damn clue how it will pan out. But gotta keep swinging.

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Ben Standig of the athletic made a big point…if we take the first qb off the board at 11 then that’s a condemnation of the qb position this year in the draft

He’ll be long gone by the time we pick, I say either trade down or pick the Georgia LB. |

I see Trubisky coming here .. we draft BPA at 11 .. pick QB in 3-4 round .

Kyle Hamilton at 11? There is no QB in this class we should take over Kyle Hamilton. |

Hamilton is supposed to go in the top 5 or 6 picks.

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Trubisky sucks. He's so bad he's making me have doubts about drafting Sam Howell since they went to the same college.
|
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I can't imagine Trubisky is the splash anyone in the front office has in mind. Especially after seeing the QB play in the playoffs this weekend. He should be plan Z at best.

Two positions I would rarely take in the first round is RB and safety.

Pretty glad we took Sean Taylor in the 1st round... |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Matt Corrall seems to be gaining a lot of steam in the mock draft world to us. Just saw like 3 or 4 of them last night/today. Out of like 5 or 6 that I looked at.

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
11: R1 P11 - QB Sam Howell - UNC
42: R2 P10 - WR David Bell - Purdue 73: R3 P9 - TE Trey McBride - Colorado State 110: R4 P8 - LB Brandon Smith - Penn State 189: R6 P10 - G Joshua Ezeudu - North Carolina 228: R7 P9 - RB Tyler Allgeier - BYU |

Crazy. Waste the 11th pick in the draft on Sam Howell?
Crazy. Waste the 11th pick in the draft on Sam Howell?
This QB class is tough to put a hierarchy on. I go back and forth on who I like best. I just hope we come out of the 1st or 2nd round with a QB. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I don't care where the QBs end up being ranked. The rankings almost never are correct two years down the road.
Similar to SD's thinking, just draft the one you believe can be the guy. If you're wrong, better luck next year. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Matt Corrall seems to be the one who has the "it" factor as a leader. But, like many on this board, I would be concerned about how he could physically hold up in the NFL.

Yeah, no thank you. Seen him play plenty. Maybe in the third round. Pickett or Strong I would strongly consider in the first. I like Corall but Im also concerned about his durability. Dude is tough as nails, but the NFL is the NFL. |

What if we give the Vikings our first rounder for Cousins..😂😂.

We'd have the best offense in terms of yards, but our record would likely remain the same. |
Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I don’t see Ron taking a rookie QB , he’s just not that kind of coach. He wants a veteran leader and also he knows a rookie means rebuild.. he can’t waste time on that. The only way I see him taking one at 11 is if they sign a Mitch T to play until the rookie is ready

Valid point.. It just sucks since there is no viable QB available in free agency, just like last year. The only way for us to get a good QB is to trade but the thing is it seems like Wilson, Watson and Rodgers don't even consider WFT as a possible new team for them. This is a big and difficult situation for the team to figure out. |
