Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
@BenStandig
The Commanders have requested an interview with 49ers assistant GM Adam Peters, source confirms (@AdamSchefter 1st). Lots of praise for Peters in the latest NFL agent survey |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
we have sent out request to interview the eagles asst. gm, the chiefs asst. gm 49ers asst. gm
|
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
@TomPelissero
The #Commanders requested an interview with #Eagles assistant GM Alec Halaby for their head of football operations job, per source. |
This looks to be a situation where both the GM and HC will be in equal footing.
And both report to a team president I guess. I don’t care at this point, get it fucking right. don’t give one flying fuck at this point who they bring in to consult. People giddy or mad about a basketball guy, it’s all window dressing, it doesn’t matter. Get it right, that’s the expectation Harris has set so do it without excuses |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
I know that it won't happen but Mike Tomlin would be the Guy I would go after if I owned this team .. I would spare no expense at trying to land him ..
|
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
The team can simply be doing initial interviews with HC candidates to see if they are guys Harris would like. Then if they pass the 1st round, they are guys that can be interviewed again once a new VP and/or GM is in place. Looks like they are getting the ball rolling on all positions.

Wonder if the Steelers would give him up. Let's offer them our next 3 first round picks. |

Cosmi with some good words regarding Ron's departure. I loved his bit at the end - he wants to be on a team where guys would die just to win. It really makes me wonder how many players we have in the locker room that don't love football and just use it for the wrong reasons. |

The people we know about so far are highly regarded by their peers. That's very encouraging! |

Highly regarded is cool...Results are better.
RR was/is highly regarded... |

RR was/is highly regarded...
A highly regarded coach can succeed with the current ownership. No one was able to succeed under Snyder. It's irrelevant to compare anything to what happened in the Snyder era. |

People just need to realize that everything that happened under the Snyder ownership,, doesn't apply to a normal franchise, which is what we hopefully have now. |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
Per Schefter, The Commanders have requested to interview Chiefs assistant GM Mike Borgonzi, 49ers assistant GM Adam Peters, and Eagles assistant GM Alec Halaby per multiple reports.
Gotta love what we are doing now. We definitely are not wasting any time. |

Sounds like they are turning over every actual rock in the football landscape, that is going to take a long time. Gotta start as close to today as possible. |

I would prefer to never read any more about the person you mentioned in your post. I'm not criticizing your post, that's just how I feel. For me, today marks a clean slate for my team. |

Ha Ha. Good one :D I'm just pointing out the obvious. RR's a well respected and highly regarded man and coach who didn't get it done here. I'm not saying highly regarded is a bad thing...it's important. I just want a GM/HC combo that will produce results. Time will tell, but so far, what has been reported about the search looks promising. |

The key was Snyder selling, and now we've unlocked the door. No telling how many bright minds declined an interview here because they didn't want to work for Snyder. I like to think Ron played some role in convincing Dan to sell. At some point someone probably had to convince him to take the money and run. And for that alone, I thank Ron. This time feels different. |
Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
Highly regarded is cool...Results are better.
RR was/is highly regarded...
As a person or a Coach? He got shitcanned in Carolina. 3 winning seasons in 13 years. Most people do not get the chance to be that awful for that long so yeah he is apparently a great guy. A highly respected and regarded guy. But anyone who holds him in high regard as a HC is confused. 3 winning seasons in 13 years. My goodness. |

3 winning seasons in 13 years. My goodness.
LOL, simmer down my friend. I can see the smoke from here. He's obviously highly regarded as an individual - as a man. I wouldn't hire him to be my HC or GM if I owned a NFL franchise, but I don't doubt that he is highly regarded by some as a Coach, maybe a DC, maybe a HC. He'll likely get another shot in some capacity. He was the right guy at the right time for this franchise, but he didn't get it done, obviously. |
When asked if he had a love for football, Myers said, “What’s fascinating about the NBA is the superstars. They’re so powerful. I think football, unless you’re the star quarterback, it’s a team. It’s a defense. It’s an offense. And bring together 40, 50 people trying to row in the same direction seems to me a great challenge to build out something like that. I think in the NBA, if I went to the store and bought a puzzle, the NBA puzzle is like 20 pieces. The NFL puzzle trying to put that together is a 100-piece puzzle. That’s to me the fascinating part about the NFL. There’s offense. There’s defense. There’s special teams. There’s the salary cap. The way they structure deals!”
Good read on Bob Myers. He was not responsible for drafting Steph Curry or Klay Thompson but it's clear he had a big role in making those championship teams that won 4 titles in 6 appearances. Yes - he's not an X's and O's guy but he knows leadership and what's necessary to win consistently. Another quote from this Athletic piece on him.
“You’ve got to respect each other,” he said. “You’ve got to understand that some days, you don’t have it. And your teammates need to pick you up. It’s the houseguest that stays too long. Sometimes you just need space. And it’s nobody’s fault. You need to yell at each other; you have to tell each other how you’re feeling. There’s acrimony, there’s division, there’s everything. But as long as you don’t break. You have to view it almost as like a family — that no matter what happens, we’re blood, and we’re going to see it through. But that’s a challenge, because you’re really not blood, but you’re as close as you can get, ’cause you’re with each other all the time.”
|
