Ekeler averaged a paltry 3.5 ypc last year and had 628 yards and got hurt. But if he is used just as a 3rd down back then that's probably good.
628 rushing, 436 receiving. not sure on snap count, but not as bad as it seems. Other sites are reporting 2y/8.4m (4.2/per) vs the 11m (5.5/per) I've seen... I'm not sure which is right (or is that just incentives?), but at 4.2 it's a much better deal. wagner is a 1-year rental, and I think it's fine for what we paid. he still had 183 tackles and 3.5 sacks last year. |

Re: Commanders 2024 Free Agency Thread
DE has some old guys like calais campbell, jadeveon clowney, or, you know, chase young :P
It'd be funny if we did the hockey thing where we sign young to 1-year deals and loan him out to playoff teams for picks every year. |
We still have six draft picks in the top 101, the second wave of free agency which thanks to these contracts we have room to be a player in that part as well, And finally there's the cuts that come after the draft that we can take advantage of. To get this many top quality starters and role players this early gives this coaching staff a ton of room to plan and build their vision.
These moves aren't the end of the plan, they are clearly foundational moves for building a strong competitive franchise.
Yeah, not sure why he's in an uproar about those FA moves. They were one year deals at lost costs. It's a win win. You upgrade what you had before without breaking the bank and allowing you to use them as stop gaps. Ertz, Ekeler, and Wagner were great moves IMO. Not much risk to them. If they flop, it was a one year deal. Nobody cares. |

If you read what I wrote I do like some of the moves and overall I like that Peters is shaking things up. There were a few that I would have passed on. Definitely not in an uproar.. These are all smart signings financially. |

rome wasn't built in a day i would think adams is trying to build something competitive for next year then to continue to build from there non of these signings make super excited that we are even playoff bound next year but its a start |

Chinn fits what they want to do, but Curl is so bright and versatile I am surprised they could not find a spot for him, especially at that price. Its not like they have better options with Percy Butler and Darrick Forrest, they are just cheaper. |

Seems a little odd we weren't willing to match that. Maybe he didn't want to come back, or maybe they didn't think he was a good fit. It's funny how our LB group looks to be the strongest position group on the Defense - for now. |
Re: Commanders 2024 Free Agency Thread
love how the off season and FA signings have gone but still two positions of need are OT and CB little surprised we have not signed either one yet , ,, thruthfully we really don,t have any OT on the roster and razor thin at CB

And the fuller contract… Maybe, just maybe the league isn’t as upbeat about our players as we are. Can’t wait to hear Kam’s dad reaction. He’s a complete bitch ass |

Re: Commanders 2024 Free Agency Thread
Maybe, just maybe the front office didnt think he was as good as some fans thought, he's a solid tackler and he wanted almost double what he ended up getting. The league showed his value. We arent missing out on anything

@CoachGCurl Market was over saturated and other safeties taking trash deals kinda jacked it up for everybody but we good with the overall situation and placement! |

Gtfo
Gotta wonder if Kam regrets signing now that Aaron Donald is retiring. LOL. Talk about fucked up timing. I wish him the best though - I think the last staff had him doing too much. If his new coordinator puts him in one position where he excels he can definitely rebound. |

Yeah those are the two positions of need at this point. There must not have been anyone out there they considered good enough and feasible enough (rebuilding smartly requires both) to bring on. They will certainly address both in the draft. The earlier the better. |
Re: Commanders 2024 Free Agency Thread
Or they're still talking. Aside from Smith there a re a few guys that could at least start at RT if not LT. Pick up a starting RT now, and get one in the draft early in teh 2nd or trade back up to the 1st.

Re: Commanders 2024 Free Agency Thread
safety WAS flooded, but it's also a low value position. If you're a game changer (again, ST/ed reed/TP etc) you get paid, otherwise you're replaceable.
What probably happened is he was holding out for more money (hence why he signed so much later than others) and the team wasn't willing to wait and hope he came to his senses before the market dried up. If he was willing to accept that deal a week ago, maybe he'd still be here instead. (and some people wanted to tag him :/ ) OT/CB - not much there that's going to help us in FA. You can get middling players or old ones. Anyone worth getting got resigned by their own team pretty quickly. |

This one I traded back with Arizona from 2-4. Dream scenario here.

Wrong thread sorry.

Re: Commanders 2024 Free Agency Thread
I'd like to see us sign some like Nijman, Jones or even Peat for T this week. Nijman and Jones have potential ceilings of starting RT if not LT, and would improve depth if nothing else. Then draft another T early, hopefully a starting calibre LT. If we come up of FA just needing to draft 1 each of T, TE and CB, assuming QB with pick #2, then I'd say that was a successful offseason if we get the guys we want in the draft.
We can't turn this team into a SB winner in one season, but it does look like the good foundation is being laid, and the approach of spending, not overspending, in FA will prove its worth in years 2 & 3. |

He was pretty bad, so imagine it was for a minimal contract. Now for the really bad news, currently he is the 2d best corner we have and, barring another CB acquisition, probably one of our starters. |

Have heard that before last year he was pretty good, last year was asked to play away from what he did best, bit like WJ3, which is why his play dropped off. Sadly, that wad still better than what we had. |
