have you heard any rumblings about draft trades? i know there is about a 5% chance of us getting rid of the number 4 pick but it would be nice to bounce back in the second and get into the third. |
Hate this move. Running backs should be young and cheap. LJ could barely gain a yard with KC last year, but as soon as he left the YOUNG AND CHEAP Jamaal Charles went on a tear, including a 259 yard game at the end of the season. He was the 73rd pick in the '08 draft.
RBs are a dime a dozen. Get them young and cheap and avoid 30 year old locker room cancers.
Well we did have two young...and cheap running backs: Quinton Ganther and Marcus Mason. They simply weren't that impressive. I'd rather they be young, cheap, and good. And we released two 30 year old backs in exchange for a much better option at the same position, Larry Johnson. Now if you just flat out don't like LJ for whatever reason(s), that's okay too. But I think the price was right and you get a proven running back that doesn't have as much mileage as some pretend. Bottom line, singing Larry Johnson shouldn't be viewed as neither a long term commitment or a long term solution at running back. I trust the front office on this one. |
Re: Redskins Sign Larry Johnson
I keep hearing people saying something along the lines of waiting a year until "a young RB takes over". I believe this league is moving away from the one RB system, and going towards a multiple RB running game. While I do hope we can find a good back in the later rounds (I just noticed that Sproles, Michael Turner, and Tashard Choice were all either 4th or 5th rounders), I think we are always going to have a combination of older and younger backs to share the load of the running game.

Re: Redskins Sign Larry Johnson
I have no problem with the Skins signing Johnson if he can return to form from a few years ago... we'll have to wait and see. The problem I do have is that they still have no RB with speed. CP has certainly slowed down and doesn't hit the holes quick enough anymore... he makes it easy on the opposing defense to move in for the tackle before he even gets past the line of scrimmage. I'd like to see some RB with good speed to complement Johnson's power running.

Re: Redskins Sign Larry Johnson
I honestly don't know what to think about this signing. Larry Johnson can be a great addition or a locker room cancer. Right now, I'm just going to have to wait and see what he does. I would have preferred to draft a back.

Re: Redskins Sign Larry Johnson
I echo the same concern exit0 has, it really depends on which Larry Johnson and Clinton Portis show up next year. If we get the 2009 versions we are in deep trouble. Father time is not on the side of these two aging stars. It does not matter how many carries or miles they have or don't have. Ultimately it comes down to how hard they are willing to run and if they do not shy away from contact. We should not forget Portis' concussion was severe and he is now more prone to this injury. I do not want two Shaun 'tip toe burglar' Alexander type backs that fall down behind the line of scrimmage at the slightest presence of a defensive player.

We probably still will. I think what this signing does is signal that it doesn't matter who you are, you have to earn your starts....even Clinton Portis. And I think it's about time. |
Re: Redskins Sign Larry Johnson
This guy has made a career out of beating up women. I'm sorry, but I'd rather the Skins lose than win games with a-hole thugs like this.
Get real Son. Johnson does not have the miles that Shaun Alexander had on him. LJ has alot to prove since his career the last few years have not gone well.
we shall see. Im sure he has sooooo much to prove. yeah him and portis will work well together. RB coach needs an immediate raise and weekly psych evaluation. |

HAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Maybe we could get a female manikin for the locker room so Larry has something to beat the shit out of, and Portis has something to dress up. And if we get Clausen, he'll have something to snuggle with thats better looking than that heifer of a girl in his picture!! I'll be here all week ladies and gentleman!!!! |
Re: Redskins Sign Larry Johnson
What's up with all the LJ woman bashing bull? Seriously. You guys are real trip.
If the truth were really told, if LJ kicks ass (the opponent's, that is), you guys would be the first sniffing his jock and you know it. |
