That saying would apply if Reid and JLC were just making stuff up and one of their fabricated stories just happened to be true. However, it doesnt jive with reality. Reality is that JLC had actual SOURCES telling him Haynesworth was unhappy and wanted to be traded. Now, the majority here chose to stick their head in the sand and foolishly pretend that these were just rumors and the sources were crap. They foolishly chose to believe what Haynesworth, whose teammates refer to him as an "actor," said instead - even though anyone with any sense at all recognized that Haynesworth would be saying the exact same things whether or not he wanted to be traded or not. Hopefully, in the future, people will learn from this and not discredit JLC simply because they don't like what he has to say.
Everybody new AH was disgruntled that was no secret. The "rumours" were that the 'Skins were actively attempting to trade AH. JLC consistently indicated that the front office was attempting to trade Haynesworth. In light of Shanny's statements, JLC was either simply wrong or making intentionally deceptive reports. I find Shanny's statements credible as they seem consistent with his personality and with the FO's attempt to reign in attempts by players to run the team.

JLC's multiple reports that the Skins were trying to trade AH were clearly coming from team reports that AH's agent had contacted the teams. Unable to verify from the source, JLC simply created the "fact" that the Skins were seeking a trade.

Your consistent beef was that the front office mishandled things b/c they let everybody know they wanted to trade AH. Apparently, not so much.

JLC is a rumour mongering little nudge w/ an ax to grind against Snyder. Regardless of his sources, when it comes to the Skins, he is going to spin it his way - damn the facts.
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=529...goryid=2459789

according to Schefter (10:00 AM today). AH is making a major mistake.

By not reporting to camp today, he puts at risk not only the $9M in guaranteed money for the future, BUT also it could open the door for the Skins to go after about $25M in monies ALREADY PAID.

Pretty bad miscalculation on the part of AH and his agent.
Edit: People are getting so confused about all this.
Until he misses training camp, the 'skins can only fine him day by day. And even missing training camp the Redskins have limited options (in part because the bonuses were converted from signing bonuses), it's not until he misses games that they can really go after the money.
It's still funny to me how many people took the "move along, nothing to see here" approach when AH skipped all the voluntary stuff. For all the times I heard, "but it's voluntary! who cares??" This right here is why so many of us were concerned. This is the type of guy AH is.

Sadly I'm not surprised one bit by this. I hope no one else is either.

I was one of those "nothing to see here" people. I figured he would be a problem or issue but I just didn't think we needed to discuss it then cause it was voluntary. I still feel that way. Mainly because I'm always looking at the legal side of things and legally AH didn't have to be here so no harm no foul.

Since it's manditory camp now and he has not shown up now is a great time to discuss it and complain. I think we all kinda expected it but he had a right to sit at home.
Let Haynesworth rot at the end of the bench.

I would never trade him, bench him until his contract expires.

There should be a section at Fed-Ex dedicated to booing and belittling Haynesworth where the end of the bench is.
I totally agree -- let him rot the rest of his career riding the pine as we own him. After all, it would appear that letting him be a whiny bitch is having him "play to his strengths." For $100M, I would run headlong into a wall for 60 minutes 16 times a year.

I like the dedicated section for booing this jackhole -- and folks could get jersies from a whole bunch of different teams with Haynesworth's name on the back, so as to underscore that he might have been traded somewhere else had he a professional bone in his body.

Surprised? No. Clearly, anything was possible from AH. Disappointed? Yes. I admit to hoping he was actually interested in playing for the Skins.

Sure he had a right to sit at home. So did every other player who showed up to all the voluntary stuff. With a regime change as positive as the one the Redskins just went through, it is so important to have everyone present and buying in to the change and commitment to improve and learn. Every single other player recognized this, except our highest paid player, who just happened to collect a $20M check this spring.

To me, his absence for all things voluntary was a huge red flag.

He has officially surpassed Landry as my least favorite player.

Although I argued differently before, I think Casserly is right.

a) if AH gets his head screwed on correctly and shows up ready to play, play him
b) if he eventually shows up but is not ready to contribute, let him languish on the bench
c) if he never shows up, don't trade him. Put him in the closet and Sean Gilbert him for a year. Let him be everything that he doesn't want to be: unproductive and forgotten, with a wasted year shaved off of his career.

To me, not so. Don't get me wrong I totally agree with you 100%. But I grew up watching football and the players didn't report until training camp. You would hear about 1 or 2 players who stayed with their teams (not the Skins) and worked out all year cause they felt they had to be in the best shape. Those people were looked at as being crazy.

It's a different time I know and now most players stick around the facility and train yr around but the rules are still in place from the old days. Basically the players don't have to be at volunter camp. So I see no need to start ruffling feathers when he doesn't have to be here. Now that he is supposed to be here and not, everyone can ruffle all the feathers they want.

But I too agree that everyone was here trying to get better then last yr and be a team. Thats not a way to act with a new HC and GM.

Fckn scumbag.

Unfortunately we have very little recourse here. I'd send him Lav's flat screen and let him stay home for the next couple years.

Our money is already a sunk cost. The worst thing we could do is trade this pr*ck to another team so he could have another pay day.

Obviously we have a new front office, but just in case they needed a reminder, this is why you build your team through the draft and not free agency.

Fat Al should not be allowed to play football for the Skins again. I want the entire 20 million back. Should be interesting to see what Snyder and et al do.

F*ck him. What a POS.

I trust the new FO to do the best they can with this shitty situation, but they don't seem to have much leverage. We'll see.

These are the teams running a 4-3 this year. Giants, Eagles, Raiders, Seahawks, Rams, Bengals, Lions, Vikings, Texans, Colts, Jaguars, Titans, Falcons, Panthers, Saints, Bucs.

If he is to be traded this what he is looking at. As long as he isnt traded in the division its fine with me. He needs to buy his way out first. If not, give him a Gatorade bucket to sit on cuz he doesnt deserve to sit with the rest of the players.
