Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft
I wouldn't mind seeing Bell here. I would be fine with going into the season with Bell as the starting RT and Brown as a backup.
Jamaal Brown, according to Mike Shahanan, has to prove that he can stay healthy. He's making entirely too much money to be a back up. Unless Brown restructures his contract to that of a random back up, expect him to be either released or perhaps traded. He's either a starter or he's on the waive wire. |

Sounds right to me. Yet it's also perplexing...I can't really think of a time when Brown looked like a bona fide starting RT during his time in DC? |

The Skins will get no cap relief from releasing Brown and no one is going to take a chance on him, so the team will just need to bite the bullet and keep him. |

Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft
Uh oh........Bell's price just got higher
Free-agent tackle Demetrius Bell is scheduled to arrive in Philadelphia on Saturday night to visit the Eagles and will spend the night in town, a league source told the Philadelphia Inquirer. Bell visited with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Bell's visit was the Steelers' first with a free agent this offseason. |
Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft
After the Redskins draft RG3 or Luck with the first pick, Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan would be wise to turn their focus to the right side of the offensive line. They should draft a RT in the 3rd round.

This. Period. Get the best you can while you can. |
Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft
With the 69th pick the Redskins select Bobbie Massey RT Ole Miss. If not him Schwartz will be the one.
Count on it. NFL Videos: 2012 combine workout: Bobby Massie |

Count on it.
Haven't seen Mitchell Swartz play, but Massie is a great player that got overlooked cause he was on a bad team. Nate Potter people. Thats the guy you should keep your eye on. He was considered a top 15 pick 2 years ago. He isn't a LT like people had viewed before, but he is a guard/ Right Tackle at the least and a very good capable starter at that. |
Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft
People keep talking about this Swartz kid from Cal. What about Willie Smith, a decent OT that we already have? The only thing about him is he hasn't played on the right side.

Depth. Willie is a defensive end turned OT. Could be great. Drafting a RT who has played that position and ready to play the position is glaring need. If he is good enough to start at that position then he should be drafted. Redskins have no depth on the OL and it's time all that changed. Two offensive lineman in rounds 3 and 4 and a safety in round 4 not necessarily in that order and we will have done good. |

You cannot expect undrafted free agents to be ready to take over RT position in their second year. That's exactly how not to assimilate RG3 to the NFL. The reason he went undrafted is because he is a major project who needs alot of coaching, practice, etc before he can be depended on. Yes he did all right last year and got great experience but Massie and "the Swartz"(may the Schwartz be with you) are both still better players at even this point and have higher upsides to be full time starters in this league. |
