DeMarco Murray's deal with Eagles is expected to be 5 years, $42 million, including $21 million guaranteed, per @mortreport and I.

So Chip Kelly is paying Murray $8.4 M a year.

Points and laughs....talk about teams' FO playing fantasy football.

There is so many problems with the way this is coming together with the Eagles team, its gonna be fun to watch this fall.

My best guess is Jerry is on the phone with Minnesota and CJ Spiller's agent.

Re: NFL Free Agents Signings

Chiefs acquired LG Ben Grubbs from the Saints in exchange for a 2015 fifth-round pick.

It's wheeling and dealing season. Grubbs was in danger of getting cut by the Saints due to his insanely-high $9.6 million cap number as he enters year four of a five-year, $36 million deal. The Chiefs have lost a ton of offensive linemen in free agency the past two years. Grubbs, a two-time Pro Bowler, will solidify it. He hasn't missed a start in three seasons as one of the league's better guards.

another smart move by Reid

But CK has sports Science.

Plus 3.0M/yr for recently signed and oft injured Ryan Mathews.
Plus 4.1M/yr for Sproles (even if they cut sproles, its a cap hit of $3.5M).

So, replace Shady/Sproles (~$15M) with Murray/Mathews/dead cap Sproles (~$14.9M) or Murray/Mathews/Roster spot Sproles ($15.6M).

For all those saying the Shady trade was about cap space ... I beg to differ.

I would rather have three good diverse (runners & pass catchers) Rb's than one really expensive one that has a history of concussions. Your single $15M Rb gets another concussion and your team is screwed. There is an advantage to numbers and depth. Especially with how much CK wants to run the ball.

Maybe, but all three are just as big injury risks, and as one goes down the load on the others just gets worse.

Yeah but you have three for the price of one. What would want? 1 or 3?
Murray, Matthews and Sproles are pretty good trio.

This sums it up.

@JFowlerESPN

Basically, Chip Kelly flipped LeSean McCoy at $10M per for DeMarco Murray/Kiko Alonso at $9M per.

I think the risk assessment on their roster is probably off the charts.
