Re: Sean Taylor Shot in the Thigh: CNN News
I haven't posted all day maybe cause I'm still in shock. I pray that Sean comes back to health to at least take care of his family, who cares about football. If there's one thing that has occurred due to this tragedy is that it has brought all fans, members of the Redskins team (players, coaches, trainers, etc) closer as a family, we all feel this tragedy deep inside our hearts. As for our season, I say dedicate it to Sean and his family.

Everytime I go to Redskins.com I am not seeing Williams press conference or Gibbs? Can you attach a link so I can see this? Thanks. |
For anyone who hasn't watch the interview with Williams on Redskins.com. Go to the last 15 seconds and you'll see Williams get really choked up, say "I just want him to be alright," and have to leave the stage.
That was pretty touching. Williams loves ST - has repeatedly said ST's the best free safety he's ever coached. |
Re: Sean Taylor Shot in the Thigh: CNN News
Here at work I was watching a direct feed to the press conference (so basically what is going on when the cameras aren't rolling). And one guy there, don't know who it was I only heard the voice, said that Gibbs, Williams and a couple other guys were in Gibbs' office and they all just sat there and cried before Gibbs went to address the team.
All of a sudden football doesn't mean shit and the loss yesterday really doesn't mean anything. I'm just so bummed out. |

Is anyone going to the vigil at Redskins park?

Re: Sean Taylor Shot in the Thigh: CNN News
Watching SportsCenter- Mort just reported that there wasn't much optimism amongst the Redskin folks he spoke with, and that people are just holding out hope that his youth and athleticism save him in this case. Ugh.
I hope so. Believe Washington. Pray for that man to recover and brought back to full health. |
Re: Sean Taylor Shot in the Thigh: CNN News
Is it just me or are we nervous everyone is going down to see him? Like the end maybe in the near. UGH!

Re: Sean Taylor Shot in the Thigh: CNN News
In a way I almost feel like this HAS happened to someone in my family. Maybe it's just b/c I'm emotional right now. But I grew up in DC. Some of my earliest memories are of my Dad taking me to Skins games at RFK during Gibbs 1.0. I still remember the 3 SuperBowl parties my family threw for our championships.
Redskins football is and always will be something that brings my family and friends together on Sundays. I love this team with all my heart, I keep up with them every single day of the year, and as I've grown up I feel like I'm a part of them and they're a part of me, as cheesy as that may sound. And Taylor is one of my 2 or 3 favorite players. I still remember cheering and running laps around my living room when we drafted him over Kellen Winslow. I wear his jersey every Sunday. I'm devastated.
Very well put. Most of us have the same types of memories and the Skins are definitely a major part of our lives/personalities. When they are struggling or hurt, so do we. But none of us has seen anything this tragic happen to someone who is part of the organization. Even Dexter's troubles weren't anywhere near this magnitude. That's also why most of us are here to help each other through this. This is the most awful thing I can remember happening to the Skins since I began being a fan in 1972. Keep praying and think positive to help ST. |

Just needed to go back into it, instead of just hitting refresh. Thanks for the help though.... Williams was a great interview and it did choke me up. Get better soon Sean, we are all praying for you... |
Re: Sean Taylor Shot in the Thigh (UPDATED 6:54 PM)
Jurgy was just on the news on Washington. He and George Michaels spoke about how Sean was cautious and reserved with the press, but if he trusted you (as he did with Jurgenen, Michaels (he asked Michaels to be his daughter's God Father) and the local NBC4 crew, he tended to be more open. Obviously, he was not as trusting of Wilbon. I hope better news is coming. There is a candlight vigil outside of the Ashburn training facility as we speak. We should all wear our 21 Jersey's Sunday. I don't care if its the Mike Nelms - 21, or the Terry Allen - 21. I would love to see as 21s as possible

Thank god. at this point we have to say f football and just hope this young man can have a normal life after this and get to see his daughter grow up. if he can play again that's awesome but far from what's actually important at this moment. |

Re: Sean Taylor Shot in the Thigh (UPDATED 6:54 PM)

Wow! This is really good news (responsiveness)...especially this quickly!
What a strong mf'er....yay for Sean! |
Re: Sean Taylor Shot in the Thigh (UPDATED 6:54 PM)
Thank God. This is easily the best news I've heard all day. I hope now that he can move without a wheelchair or anything, then maybe we can talk football. But first things first, I hope this guy has no extensive damage to his body or brain and can live a full and healthy life.

Yeah you're confusing us. |
Re: Sean Taylor Shot in the Thigh (UPDATED 6:54 PM)
A Positive Sign (UPDATED)
Les Carpenter, who is working the story for us in Miami, heard rumblings that Sean may have opened his eyes. I have not been able to get that confirmed but just heard from a team offical that Sean is now responsive, which is obviously a turn for the best. I will continue working away to get more details, but this is obviously a turn for the better after Sean spent much of the day in a "non-responsive and unconscious" state. As the person put it: "Finally, the first good news all day." Let's hopes it's the first of more to come. Redskins Insider |
Re: Sean Taylor Shot in the Thigh (UPDATED 6:54 PM)
JLC now saying (unconfirmed) that he has in fact opened his eyes, and a call from Vinny Cerrato is coming momentarily. Looks like the next hour or so will be an active one, hopefully positive...
