Duke Robinson is still out there. Would be nice to get him.
I thought he was a potential late first rounder, but I don't even see him on Kiper's top 10. What happened that made him drop down draft boards? Bad Pro Day? A lot of people a while ago wanted us to trade back later in the first and draft him. |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
I wholeheartedly agree. I'm holding out hope we can somehow address OLB and tackle and still get a change of pace back for Portis like a Javon Ringer or Kory Sheets. Betts is uber-expendable IMO. He's not that fast, doesn't have great hands, fumbles too much, and doesn't block that well. Problem is he has very little trade value (5th round pick at best) and I doubt we'd cut him.
I agree with your assessment of Betts' skills but he's not really expendable until we have a capable replacement. Let's see what happens tomorrow before we trade Betts IMO. |

Every year teams reach and players slide. The first pick in the third round ends up being a pretty valuable thing. |

I think he's expendable if we intend use the pick we move him for on a RB... |
Anybody else have a sick feeling going through this round seeing all the players we would have had a shot at?
Could be worse, I wonder how Dallas and Chicago feels |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Anyone can do what Betts does.
Yeah, talk about a falling star. If Betts was ever worth anything, it would have been just after the 2006 season when he took over for Portis. He rushed for more yards over a five game stretch than any running back in Redskins history. But now, I don't know if we could give him away. |

Don't know, with 11 picks Dallas is sure to find some decent talent. I sure wish we had a 2nd rounder, we could have ended up with another automatic starter. |
Could be worse, I wonder how Dallas and Chicago feels
But keep in mind the Cowboys have ELEVEN draft picks tomorrow. So they'll have something to say before this draft is over. Chicago traded for their best QB since Jim McMahon, so they shouldn't feel too bad. |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Players that i'm looking at at #80:
Tyrone McKenzie OLB USF Jamon Meredith OT South Carolina Duke Robinson OG Oklahoma D.J. Moore CB Vandy Marcus Freeman OLB Ohio St. Troy Kropog OT Tulane |

Yeah how did Dallas lose all their picks? Hopefully this will be the last year we don't have a full compliment of picks in rounds 1-4. |

Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Not at this point. No way. There's nothing standing out right now that would be worth giving away next year's draft already.
Giants just got Beatty, the tackle from UCONN. Great draft for them so far with Nicks, Sintim and Beatty. Damn.
I think that we'd collectively mess our pants if we had 10 picks. |

lot of questions about his work ethic .. didn't he commit a crapton of penalties in their bowl game too? I watched some of the games this year and recall him getting whistled quite a few times in rapid succession |

I can't believe I watched the whole thing. Even without our 2nd, I am thrilled that we filled a definite need with a very good prospect.
Bring on tomorrow. |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
I say with our next pick we get Lawrence Sidbury, he reminds me of a young Fred Dean. I'm sad we didn't get Mack but happy Cleveland did.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Our pick at 80 has super important. It has to be right. I like BPA approach at that point but a solid DT/OT/OG/LB/C is really preferred. I like the idea of a C with Guard abilities or vice versa. We can probably get a starting C at 80. A guy like Antoine Caldwell we'd have to jump on. He can play guard and works hard. He'd projects as an improvement on Rabach pretty quick.

I agree, however no one on the Redskins seems to think Rabach is a liability. He's "entrenched" as the starter, and Danny called him "excellent" on the radio the other day. I doubt we're looking to bump him anytime soon unfortunately. |

Then his definition of excellence must mean "sucks donkey dong and gets called for holding at exactly the worst time." I guess we know GTripp is def not Snyder in disguise. |

Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
So my thoughts on todays draft...
interesting how Tyson Jackson went third overall The raiders showed classically why they draft in the top ten every year (DHB over crabtree???) Detroit had an ok draft but really should have gotten an olineman I stead of pettigrew Surprising the broncos got moreno but then again I guess they knew how they lost all there RBs last year The jags passed on crabtree was another surprise The packers had on of the best drafts and it'll probably get better Couldn't believe orakpo fell to us great pickup just want to know what position will he play here DE or OLB Sorry SFREDSKIN but you'll have to root for the browns now that your mack is going there The eagles getting maclin was surprising seeing they needed a tall fast guy and that maclin fell that far Michael oher falling to Balt and them taking him The chargers getting my favorite player in the draft in larry English, but then again they do have merriman and Phillips sooo?? Why draft him?? The colts not getting a DT or LB or WR but a RB wight they're first pick The bills getting a center Instead of a tackle Dolphins getting pat white will be great in the wildcat Maualuga not going in the first The raiders once again draft an unknown who at best would have gone in the seventh round...makes me wonder who they get with there worse picks a very fast blind man Steelers getting a DT/DE The Vikings got my RT loadholt I'm thankful that the jets got sanchez I hope tomorrow we target jamon Meredith or freeman or joe burnett or sidbury (?) to play the position orakpo wouldn't Jason watkins Jason Williams nic Harris jarret dillard Ramses barden kaluka maiava Kevin Ellison brandon Williams edwin Williams DUKE ROBINSON |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Cowboys first pick is Jason Williams, OLB from Western Illinois
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Draft Duke Robinson here and I'll be happy
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
wow, we had the pick in quickly
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Meredith, come on.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
WOW, corner is a surprise if we didn't go OLB or O-line, I would've loved to have grabbed a RB..
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
For god sakes Duke Robinson
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Makes no sense to me. Continue to ignore the depth/talent issues on the offensive line. They think Jason Campbell was the reason for the collapse? But don't pay attention to the offensive line? Jamon Meredith should have been the pick.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
there were some good OLB's on the board including my favorite sleeper Kaluka Maiava, WTF the corner is nice but not as badly needed as other positions even Lawrence Sidbury was available..again I say WOW!
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
HOWhowhow, if we are going to draft a CB, do we not draft D.J. Moore? How? and why draft a Cornerback, when Jamon Meredith is still available? I guess since Dan made such a good pick in the first round, he figured he had to negate it in the third by living up to his dumb ass reputation.
