Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Here would be the situation in regards to draft picks:
2011: 1, VJ, McNabb, Brown, 5, 6, 7. If your telling me VJ is not worth the #2 then I'm telling you McNabb was not worth the #3, and to me Brown is even questionable at #4. Why cause I presume people are wanting youth... McNabb is not youth nor is Brown. People are worried about VJ screwing up again and being told he can't play... I'm worried McNabb will get injured again and won't be able to play. Although I think Grossman will fill in nicely. 2012: 1, 2, VJ, 4, 5, 6, 7. We would have a full set of draft picks except for the 3rd round which is a crap shoot anyway from there on out. Thats if the Chargers would even take a guarenteed 3rd. Thats all their getting next yr anyway if they don't do something with VJ and throwing in a second rounder a yr ealier is much better then just having a 3rd round pick. |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Well whatever happens it must take place by 4 PM today. I just don't see the Redskins being a serious suiter after McNabb just had the game of his life and giving up two picks when we have more pressing issues along the offensive line, running back, and defensive line. Not happening folks.

I'm argueing for VJ. Do I think it will happen. No. Like you I think MS is happy with what he has. But if MS is truly looking at other players to see if they will make the team better.... you can't say VJ would not make the team better or is not better then R.Williams. But do I think it will happen .... no. I'm guessing the Chargers have thrown out there what their asking price is and what the Vikes offered in hopes another team steps in the bidding war. Now it's the Chargers and Vikes and as PFT put it who blinks first. Do the Chargers take what ever they can get or do they Vikes throw in more at the last minute? |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Are our receivers presently doing their job?
For the most part, yes. They appear to be running their routes, getting open, and catching passes. It's amazing how a receiving corps once thought to be among the worst in the league, can make plays like they have once they've got a quarterback. I haven't seen how they've been blocking, and I'd be curious to look at the game film to analyze it, but we haven't run a ton of screens so who knows. I just don't know how much better we're going to get by adding VJ, when we can't run the ball and don't have significant O-line depth (see HEYER). If we can accomplish all of that by next season, then I'd say go for it. I just don't know if that's possible. |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
I think someone is gonna get him today. The Chargers HAVE to be realizing that a 2nd and a 5th or 4th is better than NOTHING. Their leverage is right now at an all time low, just as ours is with albert haynesworthless.

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
I love how they argue it based on Brandon Marshall's deal.. when the Dolphins had Marshall ready for the long term contract and Marshall wasn't missing games or had the chance to be sat out a full season if he commits another league violation
I wouldn't give a 2nd and 3rd based on that |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
4pm looms soon. I wonder if they would take a 2nd round pick for the next draft 2011 and a guarenteed 3rd for 2012? We would still have;
2011: 1, VJ, DMac, Brown(NO), 5, 6, 7. 2012: 1, 2, VJ, 4, 5, 6, 7. It doesn't look bad when you look at what you got for the pick. Tell me your not happy with the 2011 3rd round pick and possibly 4th round pick. I'd say we did good. To throw in a proven WR would be a steal of a draft.
The way I see it, that is two first rounders and a second rounder in the next two years. I can live with that. All of em unproven commodities. VJ - proven above average WR in the NFL, and how often do you have the chance to get a top 15 WR in the league, and with McNabb and Cooley, imagine the things that they could do. (also way safer than another MK or DT) For a second and a third??????? Make the frikkin deal already. Gimme a break. (Everyone is all in, right? Win Now? Make the deal and lets move forward with this squad) |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
I really can't believe that SD is going to settle for a compensatory 3rd, vs a 2nd (high if it is the Rams), and possibly another conditional. It just doesn't really make much sense.

Hacksaw 10am update....Washington back in VJ talks....discussing 2-deals simultaneously to get draft picks to send to San Diego about 1 hour ago via web lee hamilton (hacksaw1090) on Twitter |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
So if this guy from SD radio is right.. we're close to landing VJ.. and sending someone out of the building
not saying he's right, as we've heard these types of reports before.. |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Could AH be on the way out?? We can only hope.
|
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Rams stepped out.

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Looking back at the 2007 draft, boy did we whiff passing on Patrick Willis, Adrian Peterson and Derelle Revis........LOL

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Go allen!!!!!!
Get him here!!!!!!!! |
So if this guy from SD radio is right.. we're close to landing VJ.. and sending someone out of the building
not saying he's right, as we've heard these types of reports before..
That's the only reason I see them for turning down the generous offer from Minnesota....if they can get a top player who can contribute NOW. (or in AH's case, who can at least be in uniform...actual contributions are a crapshoot) Minnesota offered a 2nd and another conditional pick...good offer. If we can ship Albert out and lose nothing more than an additional 3rd-rounder, I'd support it. Even if he causes problems...we'll still get more on-field value with VJ over an unmotivated AH...and we'd have a problem child either way. Seems like a no-risk deal for us. |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
two deals simultaneously to send draft picks to SD means that there's another team involved, at least as far as I take it.. so it's a 3-way deal or we're just going to straight receive something for some guy(s) from the team in order to get the picks
speculate on |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
With the RB we signed yesterday being a KR guy, releasing Johnson and saving some 2011 money plus Thomas having no role in the passing game I could see this being a Thomas-2011 2nd round pick for Jackson. Maybe also doing Haynesworth for a conditional 2nd or 3rd to Tennessee..
Who knows, I'm bored on a conference call so it's probably all my speculation. |

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
I know it's not likely related, but here is one other thought. When we cut LJ, and brought in a guy saying that ST was somewhat needed, I went hmmm. What if, we are throwing DT out there as trade bait? We certainly might get a 3rd rounder for him from some teams, who again are chasing potential.
Suppose the Rams traded a 3rd (very high probably) for DT, and we packaged that with our 2nd, for VJ. |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Ive been hearing rumblings that the titans are close to a deal with the skins for AH......like ridiculously close. Hopefully this has to do with the VJ timeframe. unload AH to the titans for a second, and get VJ only spending a 2012 third, all the while losing a cancer. Thats a great day in my book.
FINGERS CROSSED |

**** didn't see yours Paintrain. Here I thought I was throwing out a new idea :(

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
so why doesn't Schefter rule us out or in?
Adam_Schefter FWIW, 90 minutes left to Vincent Jackson deadline -- and there's no progress between Chargers and Vikings. 2 minutes ago via web |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
I like the above, and who says we couldnt get a 3rd from the rams, titans or even the VIKINGS, for Devin Thomas. Hell, id unload him for a 4th, trade AH to the titans for a 2nd, and give S.D. a 2nd and 2 4th rounders for VJ..............
In essence we lose a cancer, some dead weight and a 4th round pick (practice squad meat, and land a top 15 NFL WR. |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Checklist of the teams who have been reported in the mix:
Viking - out, they signed Hank Baskett. :cheeky-sm Rams - out. Seahawks - no news. Redskins - rumors. :smashfrea |

Shanahan on Vincent Jackson: ''It's a rumor.'' When asked if he wants to put it to rest ... ''I just did I think.'' |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Haslett said ankle is still bothering Haynesworth so I doubt he'd be involved in anything

possible I guess my gut says we don't land him, though we might be in the best position to idk |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
If we really want to dig deep, lemme go Florio for a minute on you, Armstrong not in practice, tells us to refer to Shanahan for his condition. To me that just means keeping it in-house and respecting the coach's wishes to not give away too much.

Shanahan all but shot down Vincent Jackson rumors: "It's rumor. There's no credence to it." |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
I think this FO is much more open than last year's... If Shanahan says its a rumor.. I'm prone to believe it. Much more likely than if Zorn was to say, "it's a rumor." ... Then we end up bringing like 3 dudes we didn't even need.
