So if the left is so concerned about the homeless then why don't they do something about it? Does the left need big gov. to do everything for them? Is the left too cheap to spend their own money on things like this? Does the left need the rights help to do everything to fix things they think are broken? The left likes to bitch about all the problems they seem to think the right needs to fix so I have to assume those things.
who said it was a left vs right issue? it seems like a human issue and an american issue, not a left issue. are you doing anything to fix it? why so much vitriol? |

Last time I checked, left and right both pay taxes. I think most americans want our tax money spent for schools, hospitals and infrastructure in the US and not in Iraq or pakistan. Alot of money being sent overseas or spent on overpaid overpensioned federal do nothing employees. baltimore occupy camp was shut down at 3 am a few days ago. no reported problems, site looks clean when i drove by. just a couple cops standing around, i guess making sure no one tries to reset up tents. pretty happy with the way balt and mayor rawlings-blake handled it. didnt make a big deal out of it, the protesters didnt try and block streets or anything. the police didnt surround them and create tense unecessary stand offs. let them do their thing, then when they had their time, told them to move on. |

Great insight there. Care to elaborate why you think it's stupid?

Re: 'Occupy' types
Har dee har har....
I like how Iceland captures three #1 spots. Their habitable land mass and population is how big? That chart is a joke. |
Re: 'Occupy' types
It's no big secret the US lags behind just about every civilized country in the world when it comes to little things like you know, education and healthcare. But yeah, no biggie. It's just stupid, right?
|
Re: 'Occupy' types
I don't thinks it remotely fair to compare statistics like that from country to country to country.
Regarding how our country was is/shaped by history, weather, demographics, land mass, borders etc etc....how could you possibly make a fair comparison? I have no doubt some things are much better in Sweden or whatever little country you want to cherry pick. The USA is a megalapolis compared to them. Which do you think will be easier to manage? |
Re: 'Occupy' types
Regardless of the stats things are far from being fine and dandy in the good ol' US of A. The population excuse is kinda weak. Japan for example is far from being a little country.
|
Re: 'Occupy' types
I agree the USA needs a lot of work in a lot of depts.
But I'm not going to spend a second worrying how we rate against Sweden, Luxembourg and Iceland etc etc I dont think it makes sense to gauge how good our country is in various departments by measuring it against other countries. Show me a perfect one with a perfect history and then maybe I'll be more interested. We should decide for ourselves what needs improvement and want to address it. Not because we need to keep up with Buttpluggastan. |
Re: 'Occupy' types
it's a pointless chart. How do you rank freedom of the press for example? because there are legitimate laws does that make a country's press less free? or high speed internet, when you have a country that is like South Korea in size versus the US. India is the smallest prison population, what does that mean.
All that aside the fact that the US spends around 43% of the world budget for military expenses(per SIPRI), indicates that we do have some priorities outta whack |

It drives me crazy when people say we need to spend more on the military. We could cut our military spending in half and still be the biggest badass on the block - while also having better schools, health care, etc. |

"The rat that we find in D.C. is indeed the Norway rat," said Najma Roberts, a spokeswoman for the city’s Department of Health.

Until we as a society truly desire to be #1 in the categories listed in the chart above, we will never attain that status.

My mother made that doll for me as a joke in an effort to use up some fabric she bought.
She made some pillow covers and stuff with it. I know you guys want to think I play with dolls but I just create weird pictures out of boredom or to get reactions from people. :cheeky-sm |

Rats in D.C.
When I started work at the Washington Navy Yard a few years ago, I heard prople complain about the rats... The Admiral explained that the rats were here first! |
