Once a d-bag, always a d-bag. Even if it was a "misdemeanor offense for which he turned himself into to the police." By the way sandtrap, you left out the part where he beat his mother. Let me say that again. Beat his mother. Was it the first time? Nooo. There is precedent that he has done this before. Let me say it one mo' again. Beat. His. Muthuh. The prosecution rests your honor. :smashfrea

Me. I couldn't believe they used the word "emotional" instead of something else that would emphasize their point better, like the word "crazy."

I was going for a more out of context view of the headline. More akin to, lets say, the film "Freddy Got Fingered"...

Otherwise, I see what you are saying. Not harsh enough.

What's wrong with a little fingering? I don't see how that could be taken out of context.

At this point it is way to early to pass judgement on the kid. And I would also use the word "mother" loosely as this woman doesn't have a right to call herself that.

Leonard is a hard nosed player. But it appears the Redskins already have who they need playing safety. Bruce Allen could always bring him in, but the front office needs to keep their word on trying to get the team younger. Leonard would provide valuable experience, but if the Jets truly thought highly of him he would still be on their team, wouldn't he?

Why? We have the Reed.

Re: Around the NFL...Offseason Style

Yeah, the Jets have Landry who is already out for training camp, surprise...and they still released Leonhard? That doesn't do much for his value, neither does the knee injury.

We have plenty of competition at safety. I'm not saying talent, but we have bodies. I don't think Leonard is an upgrade on anyone.

Last 2 seasons, he broke a leg, went on IR. He tore his kneecap tendon, went on IR again. Sounds like Landry-lite.

I was envisioning a safety version of the Santana/Laveranues swap a few years back. Those dreams have now been dashed.

I think the story is a little weak, it's not like he came out and publicly declared this year as the start of a dynasty.

True. But I don't see how the "d" word can be invoked at all without a championship. And the Dream Team didn't even make the playoffs.

Exactly. While I do think Philly will be A LOT better all around this year if my Vick-in-a-box can stay healthy, you definitely can't start throwing around the "D" word without at least winning something friggin' meaningful or at least get to the damn dance.

I agree with your first point, but I also feel this story is mostly media-driven since we're in a slow news cycle. It's standard athlete-speak as far as I'm concerned. Not once have I ever heard an athlete come out publicly and say negative things about his team. Generally you can lump players opinions into 3 categories:

1. I think we can make the playoffs.
2. I think we can win the Super Bowl
3. I think we can be a dynasty.

Vick just chose the most extreme of the 3.

Me, personally. I want to gain insight into the mind of a man who would do such a horrible thing. Plus it would give me more of an idea of how to judge him post-prison. I've been torn in my opinion of him ever since he got out, from what I could first tell it sounded like he was saying and doing the right things only to keep everyone off his back, and I couldn't really tell if he was sincere about it or not. Now I tend to lean more to the "he actually learned a good lesson from this whole ordeal" side.

Seems fitting then that he plays for the team that wins the offseason every year. "Seems" like the #1 pick does not make you #1 pick. Not yet at least..

I'll reserve judgement until there's actually football on.

Are we talking about Michael Vick? Man, it's so past tense now. There's a large population of people over in Japan, China, and Korea eating dogs and cats every single day which is far worse than dog fighting and nobody ever complains about it. I get that people love their pets but as long as it wasn't your dog that was engaged, then why sweat it? Vick has paid his debt to society, rejoined the NFL, and so we move on with life. I can't believe people are still talking about this.
