I was telling my brother last year we needed to cut Doughty and he said I was crazy, because he is the most durable man alive. He said at some point every year Doughty is the last saftey standing and will end up starting. I think Golston is sort of the same thing on the Dline, so I am agreeing with you.

He was a great ST return coverage player and a good backup linebacker. Hate to say it but Alexander would be considered a luxury that the redskins can't afford with their salary cap situation.

Although I do understand that he needs to look out for himself and get paid as much as possible while he still can.

I can easily see him being in Arizona a year then being cut because of money age etc.

It will be too bad if Lorenzo Alexander leaves. But he has to do what is best for him. We have an unfortunate situation dealing with this salary cap penalty crap, but at least we will keep most if not all of our players who had expired contracts going into the offseason. We just couldn't do much in free agency. Let's hope we hit big in the draft. HTTR!!!!!!!!!!!1

Yup. Wish the One Man Gang nothing but the best. As great as he is character-wise, I believe that Shanallen are cultivating more guys like him on the roster.

Guys like Zo - moderate talent, hard workers - aren't exactly dime a dozen but are a lot more replaceable than a Moss or a Davis.

Without thinking about the cap/money - I would love to have Bush.
Mostly because with him we keep RG3 on the safer side of the line of scrimmage more often.

AW is one tough son of a gun . I wish he were younger , however he is a Buckeye ! Should he sign with the Redskins , may he be a leader and have a great year/s while in DC. He should also be a nice mentor for Crawford / Minnifield .

Winfield can't stay on the field. I'd like to see a you get less injury prone player be signed.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013

Winfield when on the field is the type of corner I think we need. I don't think we are going to go out and find a corner who has the skill set, and is an always healthy guy, and will accept what we can pay.

just a fact of the penalty.

My first reply was taking your statement at face value, but I looked up Winfield's ProFootball-Reference.com stats and, not counting his rookie year, he only had 2 seasons where he started <10 games, and out of 14 seasons, 8 he was active for all 16, 2 he was active in <10, and 4 seasons he was active and started between 10 and 15 games. Last year he started 15 games. Injuries happen, this is a guy who is a tough physical CB, even if we had to sub in for a few games, it's not like we haven't had to do that across the board. That's why depth, and rookie talent are so critical in this league.

So, if we can get a deal done with Winfield, and he passes his physical, I'm good with that.

Uh, it also state that he is going to be 36 years old in June and is 5'9"
that is too old and too short too.

I'm okay if a guy starts 15 out of 16 games in a season, but 10-14 games for half your career isn't great if you are a starter. Your team needs you to be on the field.

Yeah he made good strides, and I'd like to see what Minniefield can do this year. I still think we need to sign several secondary players, but they don't need to be 36. We want to get younger, not older and slower.
I really hope we don't sign Winfield. Didn't Crawford get on the field last year and hold his own?
He did ok, but I think most everyone agrees that we need some CBs brought in, and as a 1-2 year deal, I think Winfield would be good.

To his age, yeah I saw that too, and if they didn't sign him for that reason, I could understand it.

He is a fairly consistent player, from his stats, and would be a stable guy, even if he is out for a game or three.

Of course it all depends on the money being right too, and I have no clue what he would want in that regards.

I think you get younger through the draft, and our 2nd year guys, you bring in an older guy to stabilize a position for OTA/Training Camp/Preseason, and if the young bucks beat out the older player great, if not you have some level of confidence in the position.

Im tepid on Winfield. Id welcome him on a 1 year deal, but we would still need more help. He would still be better in coverage over Hall.

I might be up for a 1 year flier deal, just to take a stab in the dark. I understand CRed's comment about having a vet for camp, but I just feel like his age and health won't meet the price tag he is probably going to want.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013

as a reference point DeAngelo Hall would be 30 this year, Talib just turned 27....not sure we should consider a guy that will soon be 36....no way a CB can truly hold his own at that age...unless you are Darrel Green
